The Iraq War and Afghanistan are relatively non-issues. All parties would have supported the deployment had they been in power. This is where the LDs get easy votes from non-war supporters. And I don't say I support the war... it's just decisions.

Stoke has a lot of issues IMO. Lots of BNP which defocuses things. I'm not being rude Dune (not you VFTT) but you must realise that the BNP is a socialist party, albeit a nationalist one. I'm so surprised you haven't picked that up Dune.

My Lab MP is standing down - Bev Hughes. Her replacement candidate was from an all-woman shortlist and is from London. The Tory is relatively local although from Altrincham which is far posher than my bit of Manchester. The Lab candidate will win but I would have preferred a more open candidature Lab for my seat. That said, I think the Lab candidate is very good and will do a good job as an MP without prejudice.

Clegg has a dilemma with a hung Parliament because his MPs are divided. I would imagine that Vince Cable is a pragmatic and will view the situation equally and advise Clegg. I would think that prob most LDs ar more Lab than Con. Prob the most high profile leaning-right is Chris Huhne and he will lose Eastleigh to the Tories anyway. I would think that if it is very tight after the election Clegg will support Brown. But if the Tories have a definite advantage over Labour Clegg may feel forced to deal with Cameron first of all. That's politics!

+ 1. He's been an absolute rubbish MP as Respect. He rarely shows up to Parliament and has one of the lowest voting records. He will argue that he does stuff in the constituency but that's what local councillors are also for really.

Applying these figures to the BBC Online election seat calculator results in the following: Labour 276 seats; Conservatives 245 seats; Lib Dems 100 seats; Others 29 seats. Many more twists and turns of course. The obvious one is that the LDs are going to come under more scrutiny and it's probably fair to say they are a mixed bunch.
