Saints 2-3 Liverpool - Match Thread
Andrew Watson replied to Weston Super Saint's topic in The Saints
The only question is how many goals will Liverpool score on their 2 visits to St Marys and by the way I despise them as much as I despise Bompey. My guess is between 6 and 10,especially with a make shift defence. -
Unfortunately washsaint we appear to be stuck with a manager who plays the polar opposite to the way most fans want to see. I thought we would finish last, but did expect us to have a go when we are behind, it is beyond depressing,I expect us to lose every game and that does soften the blow a tad.
-
The above post by S - Clarke is absolutely spot on,we are a rudderless shambles of a club, run by a bunch of clueless chancers. God help us.
-
Spineless dross against another very poor side, we will be lucky to pick up any away points this season. On the brief highlights did not look like a foul on Archer before their 2nd goal.
-
Watching 3 minutes highlights we were incredidibly lucky to win, however we were probably due some luck, I just hope that we have not used it all up in one game. Well done for the win Saints.

Saints playing as badly as they ever have

Stud mark of doom, between 2010 and 2017, I agree with you totally that the quality of football was in the main excellent. I meant to say that I am critical of the football since then, when I believe that we have barely won 30 percent of our home games in the premier league and as for the tippy, tappy turgid dross under RM,which really is the worst I have personally ever seen. I have to admit that I have been lucky to have seen so many home goals in the sixties and seventies, especially at - The Dell. -

Glad some of you agree and I have been watching since 1963. Saint- Jonny and Saint86,you are obviously entertained by the rubbish on view and entitled to your opinions, but to call the headline - sensationlist bullshit is over the top . We should have more points, but the managers intransigence and inability to change tactics and the slowness of play will see us relegated with a record low points total. -
Having switched off the tv last night after Stokes equaliser [ I think I did well to watch for that long ], I have come to the conclusion that this is the worst team and the worst football the club have played in many a year. The turgid dross last night against Stoke City reserves was utterly depressing and even worse than the end of Ralphs tenure and the hoofball style of Jones. I had a season ticket between 2009/10 and 2019/2020 and saw some pretty poor performances and plenty of defeats, but last night really took the biscuit. This manager has turned the promising players we do have into jibbering wrecks for having to play this tippy tappy bollocks, especially across the back line. Everton of all teams will give us the run around on saturday even with limited possession and we will be further down the road to a record premiership points low. I really pity those who paid out for season tickets [ I live in Cornwall luckily and have an excuse not to waste my money any more ] including 4 of my mates who have had a gutful already. Plenty more I could say but the likes of the knowledgable Derry and others have articulated things very well.

Well that was awful, conceding 2 goals against Stoke City reserves and doing our best to gift them a probable winner, before Bree scored. We really are a poor side who will lose again on saturday, probably 1 - 3.

Aside from all the talk about the game,I reiterate mine and other comments,a firing on all cylinders Haaland would have scored 5 yesterday and we would have been hammered 5-0. The rest is all a load of codswallop and as for Guardiola [ the best club manager in the world ] to spout utter garbage is pretty unbelievable,
-
Very lucky that Haaland was not at his best,he would have scored 5 on another day. At the end of the day it is another loss, but I am sure that some on here will see positives like that clown of a manager, you really could not make it up.

So sad and predictable, cannot even get annoyed, then what do we really expect with the worse squad and the worse manager in the league. Even more sad is the fact that we do not have any one in the club who could get a decent manager in,even if one wanted to come, give it to AL on a temporary basis,.with some other ex players who actually love the club. Feel sorry for Mr Solak, having his pants continually pulled down by a load of clowns.

Eric Martin for me,a top keeper with a dreadful defence.
-
The one certainty is that Vardy will score,we were awful against them last season and made them look like Brazil. Surely it cannot be allowed to happen again next week.
-
Having just watched game on Sky - Match of the day,the effort was there, but had the ball dropped more kindly for Arsenal in our box,the game would have been over in 15 minutes. As for the tippy tappy at the back, what a total nonsense and we gifted them all the goals, the manager talks utter nonsense and god knows what game he is watching each week.

I believe RM does his fair share for charitable causes, that makes him a decent man as far as I am concerned. I have to agree with the above assessment of his managerial abilities though, the worry is that we do not have any one at the club with any football nous and there fore when it eventually happens,we will end up with another manager way out of his depth at this level. The other point that has already been made,by others and myself,is who with any management skills would want to ruin their reputation by joining our shambles of a club.
-
The owner was interviewed straight after the play off final and admitted he knew very little about football and continues to have his pants pulled down by the charlatans running the club,he also said that the club is a 10 year project. Bournemouth manage to get in a good manager and a good if elderly american owner and some decent players. What an utter shambles of a club we have become.

We are making Sheffield Uniteds 16 point haul last season, seem a good effort. The manager,a decent human being, but a clueless manager, will be similar odds to Ten Hag to be first premier manager to go. Having seen the Ipswich goals, how do they get Delap and Clarke and we end up with BBD and CA. Bompey have recruited well,we have very little idea. The club has become a total joke from top to bottom, very, very sad.

Well done Hants for an excellent championship season. Lets face it Surrey are the Manchester City of cricket, having the most money and the best squad of players and will be very difficult to get above in the championship. We need to keep one senior bowler on next year to lead the attack, will be interesting to see if we do that,or go for two new overseas players, hopefully Currie will come back ready to push on in all 3 formats.
-
Unfortunately agree with the above 2 comments. Lose 3 -1,with a goal from Dibling.
-
I do not dislike the manager as a human being, but am not in any way or form enamoured with his management skills. The one proviso is that I doubt there is one manager any where who can teach our woeful strike force how to hit the back of the net. Dibling as a very talented 18 year old cannot be expected to bail out 3 of the worst forwards to ever appear in the premier league.
-
Let us hope that his parents are more interested in steady progress and not a large pay packet at this present moment in time, after all it would be very surprising if they do not have a say in his future. Hopefully his agent thinks the same way,but very much doubt it.

Spot on saintant, I said the same thing a couple of weeks ago, that Mr Solak is having his pants pulled down by a load of chancers.
