Any expansion would rely on fans being Able to walk to the ground. I can't see fans from Eastleigh or Winchester diving in as the traffic congestion would be back to thier front door. The trains are jam packed. On the plus side more beer sold and burgers. The Northam bridge needs expanding, by the time I get to train station the away fans are already there. If the club don't buy any new players then £32m is a bargain

Whatever happened to the captain organjng and directing the team as the went along. You hear parents at junior level just constantly telling thier kid where to stand, when and where to run, who to pass, when do shoot. It's remote football may just as well play FC24. Tablets, PowerPoint printouts bits of postit notes, shouting makes no difference if the tactics are wrong. And doesn't help fans watching boring football

Very unlikely RM will go as Saints won't spend on anyone who can get a run of wins Potter etc would be crazy to take job. Looking at previous tables at 1st Jan teams 3rd/4th bottom had 12 to 14 points. Can Saints get 3 wins soon? It's a massive task to get 32 points let alone 36. Lots of managers play back to keeper and that's been proved to not work so new manager could get us less points. The other problem is new manager won't have a budget to get any players, unless we sell 3 or 4. We can't get out of this situation as too late in season.
-
Can Saints make the record of goals conceded by us passing, setting up the opposition to score. 9 goals setup so far and nearly another 3. Is there a stat for this?
-
Changed my mind going for Villa 1-2 Saints think the wind will assist Saints.
-
Surprisingly, some fans like possession football, it's even coached at all levels. Hours of boring world cup, champions leaque and Premier leaque football over the years won't get fans of many clubs complaining.
-
I can't see another win for rest of season and that's based on Saints spending most of the game in our own half/area/6 yard box. It's possible to score goals which we have and some good ones. But that's only a small amount of the math time, rest is negative, high risk back passing. Villa 4-0 Saints. Doesn't matter who is in team or how many red cards, even if we had 12 or 13 players still be 8 players in 6 yard box for goal kick.

Boring football 70 mins a game, stupid passing to keepers who don't want the ball. How can a keeper be expected to be as skilfull on the ball as a midfielder?
-
0-0 best result for Saints but realistically 0-5 as we won't have the capacity to get forward, create something unpredictable and dribble past chelsea players. I can see a VAR red card also and more terrible decisions. Formation 1-6-3-1 once the game is in 10 mins.
-
The Brighton player who lunged st tge valley was playing with Saints players on side. It can't be off side ref flag or ref decision. The offside rule is complete nonsense. Get it back to tge 70/80s simple design making. I can't wait for Championship football.

Sholing v Winchester - Saturday 3pm - £5 for Saints ST Holders

I went.great win for Winchester city. Best chant by winch , capital of England you'll never sing that. Good facilities, grass parking bit boggy going out. -
Thanks the Cardiff game. In that case he won't be playing for Saints, God forbid a player at the back passing sensibly.
-
On the basis that Saints don't spend much time in the opposition box no. I'm surprised we have 5 points as it is. Factor in the ref and VAR then maybe 5 more points. If anything the 6 yard box keep ball we play it's luck we haven't let in another 6 goals.
-
ABK has left, wasn't he sold ages ago? I don't remember him being on any of the team sheets do far this season. CFC will walk it 4-0 or rather we will walk it in our own 6 yard box and Xmas wrap the goals. Can we still get players after the Jan window on loan deals?
-
Oh well, we can still achieve the lowest points record. 10 points looks a long way off playing dodgy passing in 6 yard box.

Sholing v Winchester - Saturday 3pm - £5 for Saints ST Holders

That's good as going anyway to watch Winchester city. 6 pointer. Come on you Citizens!! -
Draw at best. The Liverpool game highlighted the problem of passing back to a keeper who makes saves but not FC24 type skills fir outfield players. Is big Paul out, he held ball up well and dribbled passed a few players which we need.
-
Ramsdale, THB, Fernandes, Downes, Dibling could go in Jan window. Wouldn't put ir past Liverhampton, Man u or Arsenal bid for £40m we are a selling team and pay too much for players so books never balance.

Saints 2-3 Liverpool - Match Thread

My son is playing at 12 KO, so even if he plays just 1st half then we try to get from Totton through Southampton's world class traffic congestion the game could be 5-0 when we get in ground. No trains again and bus last time took 1 hour to get from station to Cumberland place. So not looking forward to this match on all fronts. It won't be as good as the 4-4. Just seen video of tall Paul goals on loan, why can't we get the ball to him! -
Aaron Ramsdale - Official: Loaned to Newcastle

Strained back from picking ball out of net. Or possession fatigue. -
POLL - Should Russell Martin be moved on?
die Mannyschaft replied to AlexLaw76's topic in The Saints
Realistically he is not going to go as, a) there isn't anyone we can afford Potter, Moyes far to expensive, b) new manager won't play possession football and our players would tgen need to change style, c) we won't by any players in Jan window. The owners will want some dosh from investment and prem money provides that. December is too late for new manager and if we don't get 6-8 points soon we won't get out botyon 3 anyway. -
If we accept relegation then any goals or shots are a bonus. At what stage of the season with under 10 points have teams not been able to avoid relegation. I'm guessing 10th Jan.
-
I'm completely board each game at St Mary's. OK last season as we had a decent amount of shots over the season. But the style and tactics dictates, stop, wait, pass then repeat until pass back to keeper. The few dribbles and runs forward we have don't end up with a shot on target. Wolves are not a top 10 team so that's our bench mark for aggressive attacking football.
-
How can you let a goal go in within 2 mins on a 6 pointer must win game. Saints struggle to get a few shots on target when it's 0-0.
