I find it interesting that Still goes and Baz is straight back in goal. He’s become a bit of a totem for everything that is wrong with the club and perhaps only when he leaves can we say we have turned the corner. Again tonight he looked a small ish bloke playing in goal despite having none of the attributes of a professional goalkeeper.

The first half was awful. No discernible style, laboured passing and just terrible football. So boring. Two decent goals but after the Baz howler we went to pieces. That last 15 minutes was so bad it was funny. No game management just 11 men in the box hacking it away anywhere. We seemed to have no idea how to control the game - it was pure panic and we lost all shape and composure. We won and that’s about it. The thing is if the interim coach beats the owls I believe he will have as many wins as our last 5 managers each achieved and which must put him in pole position to be our next coach ! He’s already reinstalled Baz and Stephens and managed to get Downs back on the pitch. He also looked like the sort of guy who would do what he was told by whichever fuckwit(s) is running the club.

At times in that last 15 minutes we didn’t look like a professional football team

Baz and Stephens back ! You have to laugh - what a total shit show

I am happy to predict that the new manager will be someone we have never heard of, has never managed in England before and will sacked before the end of the season
-
We are going backwards in age. Has anyone ever managed a championship side in their twenties ?
-
Hopefully we will get someone with a bit of experience from the Hungarian second division Have zero confidence we will make a decent appointment. Nothing will change until SR move on.

Think this sums it up

Blackburn 2-1 Saints - Match Threads

seems inexplicable that Bazanu was ever preferred over McCarthy -
Put simply - not everyone need do it; just us.
-
Yes but those squads were assembled for a small fortune - those who can’t spend that big have to compensate to some degree with physicality and athleticism. We didn’t do that. remember the crazy gang ?
-
Not convinced anything will change until whoever decided to give stephens a contract extension, have Bazanu and McCarthy as GKs for the season and appoints mangers who play 5 at the back moves on. If we are going to sack Still appoint someone who is experienced in this league and has a strong personality and clear idea of how he wants to play and it’s not 5 at the back. Feels like although Martin has gone we are still playing the ‘Southampton way’ and that has to come from upstairs at the club.

I feel nothing

I read above we have won 4 out of 47 games If we fail to win the next game we will have won 1 league game for every 12 we play and that stretches back way before Still. It’s soul destroying stuff and I no longer expect us to win a game. I wonder if any other side in league history has had a worse run over such a lengthy period. Thought we did ok today in the first half and would have won that with a decent No.9 and that’s on SR. However we are clearly less than the sum of our parts.

I’m hoping the club can make at least a 30% return on their investment on Charles - if they can then that’s a great outcome and we can all celebrate a superb bit of business. Maybe I am getting old but it’s difficult to see us ever building a decent side under SR as if by chance we buy someone decent we sell and more often than not we buy crap/mediocrity which just adds to the doom loop we are in. I just don’t see how we will ever build a side that can compete at PL level but perhaps that’s not really what SR are primarily concerned with. The days of lower/mid table PL seem a very long way off now

Nice to win a game. Pleased to see Still has had the gumption and balls to drop Baz and Stephens and good to see Stewart scoring. Still looks very disjointed abut there doesn’t look to be a stand out side in the division so maybe there is time to gel. All that said does anyone really want to spend next season in the PL with this team or one anything like it as it would be carnage again -

Good save - stayed big -
If I had to pick his worst aspect it would be his positional sense. Like you I played as keeper to town standard and I watch this guy and think why does he take up the positions he does. He doesn’t have the size or athleticism to make up for that. The justification for playing him when RM was here was that he was part of the club’s philosophy to play out from the back but RM has now gone but he’s still playing. I find it inexplicable. I suspect he will continue playing until the end of the calendar year and the club will then replace him with McCarthy and take him out of the firing line again. If the club’s plan is to put him in the shop window to try and increase his value ( what other reason can there be given our business model) then it’s not working and I can’t see who would pay money for this bloke at the moment. All that said the last time we were in the Championship, Baz was the weak link, whereas this time around he’s got some competition.

Continuing to play Bazanu, new contract for Stephens, the signing of downs, not signing a decent CF- nothing has really changed at the club. y 2 wins in gods knows how many games Watched the game yesterday and felt nothing when we conceded.
