  1. who are you thinking of ? Dave Basset or Jim Smith ? Someone like that ?
  2. We score .75 goals a game and concede 2.25 goals game I wonder if there is any team in the football league where the gap is as wide as this. I think our forward recruitment was poor but he is a terrible defensive coach and on these numbers we are on to concede nearly 100 goals this season.
  3. In our last 6 games in the PL we have conceded 3 goals in 5 of those. We are clearly not good enough to stay up and have not won a game in the PL for 21 matches but I think the club need to acknowledge that if they stick with RM there’s every reason to think we will be setting new records for the worst Pl season. I think it would be a legitimate question to ask RM if he believes we can actually win a game this season in the PL and if so why when we are conceding on average more than two goals a game and scoring less than a goal a game.
  4. the forward recruitment wasn’t good enough and we bought too many middling players rather than a few stars
  5. he could be both dreadful and waiting for a gig with a bigger club, if he was deluded as to his abilities
  6. ‘in all probability’ is admirably optimistic think its more a case of ‘beyond all reasonable doubt’ That was it today - game over it’s just a question now of how embarrassing is this season going to be as at the moment i am finding it difficult to see how we win a game
  7. I think replacing Rasmus has to be the starting point but until that happens we haven’t hit rock bottom
  8. Had to laugh when the third went in - we haven’t won now in the PL for 21 games ( half a season) and we clearly aren’t competitive at this level so there’s not much to say really is there. Seems odd though that the seasons effectively over in October.
  9. must win game and really bad decision not to play TP we have no one to hold the ball up again.. small guy up front and where we won’t play balls in behind. difficult to see where a goal is coming from with that side and we will concede and so need two to win
  10. stating the obvious but we have to win otherwise we will lose to city meaning we go into the everton game with no wins in 9. we have to win if only to create some sense of hope that we might stay up whereas at the moment it all feels pretty bleak. Would be depressing for the season to effectively be over by december how many games is it now since we last won in the PL ? must be twenty plus I think.
  11. that’s a relief On the rare occasions he has played in the last 12 months he’s looked ordinary, slow and a poor touch. Obviously he hasn’t played any football for some time so maybe that’s to be expected but TP showed in twenty minutes he’s a far better prospect than Stewart. Has he had a shot yet ?
  12. If he’s sacked it won’t be because he got us promoted There’s a feeling we were promoted despite Martin and not because of him Thought he did well in the play offs so i’m happy to give him the benefit of the doubt on that but this season has to date been a shit show and if we don’t beat one or both of leicester and everton it could be very grim indeed
  13. Did you watch us last season at Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hull and Leicester ? There were times when we were tactically naive and overrun. There were also times last season when we were good but against teams who pressed high and attacked at pace we struggled and that’s what we are facing this season and have looked totally out of our depth so far. I don’t think most of us are surprised that playing the way we are with the players we have is producing these results. The reason we did ok last season was we had a bigger wage bill and better players and now this season we don’t and at the moment RM’s approach is not delivering and I cannot see it will. He’s showing himself to be a limited coach who can’t set up a team to defend and if you have an attack as poor as ours then it’s not a good mix
  14. He’s not done anything this season to show me he can keep us up, allowing for the fact it was a tall order anyway. As a coach he’s always had a poor goals against record and now he’s got a below average attack he’s not going to win enough games. The warning signs were there last season - Hull away for example where we were blown away by a high pressing side that attacked with pace and it was key stone cops at the back. Fair enough it’s Arsenal but on Saturday Flynn was overwhelmed in the middle of the park trying to get things moving forward. There was a glimmer when TP came on and see you could see there was a finally a focal point for players to make runs off. God knows if he will play him from the start against Leicester. I find it bizarre that instead of TP he played Stewart from the outset who has looked very ordinary - has he had a shot on target yet for Saints ? Equally there’s no point sacking him unless there is a decent replacement and the record to date has been poor.
  15. I believe we haven’t won a match in the PL now for 20 games or so with that record it’s not a surprise it feels a bit depressing at the moment
  16. When you see him in the flesh you can see what an imposing figure he is and I surprised how nimble he was. Given the obvious lack of a focal point in attack so far this season, seems odd that it took until the 60th minute or our 7th game to give him a go.
  17. Think when he has played he’s looked very ordinary so I don’t see it’s an issue for the team. TP looked a significant improvement yesterday and seems negligent to not have played him so far
  18. RM sees the players in training and so how on earth does he conclude that Stewart is a better bet to play the lone striker role than TP. been said countless times before but the passing out from the back is suicidal and will continue to gift teams goals. I do think we have a real issue as well with the midfield not taking responsibility for taking the ball of the defenders and moving it forward.
  19. Watched this from the arsenal west side and he was good - not great but a proper target man who could hold up the ball and was surprisingly skillfull. far better than stewart and god know why he started above Tp. has to start next game
  20. Got tickets for this and feel we have been so shit to date that this might be the game where we actually put in a decent performance and maybe nick a point , but probably wishful thinking and just trying to justify the money i’ve spent on the tickets. Defence picks itself but god knows who plays up front this week and in what formation as the choices are pretty shit and I think RM knows it. At the moment it looks like we had a better forward line last year with Che there. Are any of the current choices better than him ? Can’t see they are.
  21. I knew it would be tough but I have been surprised how poor we have been and how we look totally out of our depth. We have only been competitive over 90 mins against ten man Newcastle. I dont think it will even be close as even if we change the manager for a decent coach we havent the quality up front to score enough goals to stay up. Maybe a new manager could try and go long to TP and RS and play two wingers but that’s desperate stuff really. Fees like we need to try and keep things respectable and wait for next season which is saying something on 1 October….
  22. At the moment we average a goal every other game so would rather save our goal for the Leicester match as might be of more use
  23. We look out of our depth sadly. Similar to the Huddersfield, Norwich teams that came up and never looked like staying up. Ok Ipswich and Leicester haven’t won a game either but we look the least likely of the three to make a proper fist of it and I can’t see how we win a game at the moment. I don’t think RM is a great coach and his style of football is being shown to be naive and totally unsuited to grinding out wins when you have inferior players.someone said last year he was a flat track bully and it looks like that wasn’t far off. Was listening to a podcast with Graeme Souness and he was talking about the need for experienced senior pros in any side and for there to be succession planning for the baton to be handed on - who are our ‘senior pros’ ? Jack Stephens and Bednarek who were not able to cut it last time in the PL.Who else ? We are so short of proven PL experience in so many areas. The recruitment at the club over the last two years has been shocking and you can’t blame RM entirely for that. The kids we signed from City have been a disaster with the exception of Lavia and I can’t believe we signed BBD and Archer when we were crying out for a top quality CF. You add to that the likes of Sulemana, TP and Orsic and it just looks like the management at the club can’t pick a player. We are constantly shopping in the ‘potential’ isle and for a club our size you can’t afford to get recruitment so badly wrong and expect to thrive. We are crying out for some established PL quality players and we have signed one In Ramsdale. Our only other experienced PL quality player is KwP who is now on the bench. We look so lightweight. We need to 4 points from Leicester and Everton but I can’t see it and we could easily be on 1 point after 10 games.
  24. to be fair none of the promoted teams have to date won a game but we look the worst of the three after the weekend games
  25. I wouldn’t get rid. I’d bring in an experienced coach to work alongside him and who has avoided the drop in the past. Thinking of Dave Basset, Jim Smith someone like that from the 90’s who can shout a lot
