  1. we are missing ross stewart - not been the same team since his injury
  2. will we have another shot ?
  3. I’m all for not winning football matches and with 2 wins in 28 or so in the PL we are adept at that but I would like to know from the club what the plan is for the next few seasons. It’s great to be a part of this footballing experiment but I’d like to win a game or two along the way. I hear a lot about the players liking this style of football and why wouldn’t they ? It’s a style which likely means you will have been part of one of the worst sides in PL history and who wouldn’t want that on their CV. No doubt we will sell all our decent players at the end of the season and buy Patrick Bamford to join Ross on the injury list ( we miss his goals) so that’s something to look forward to and Baz will be back so that’s another positive. However I can’t help feeling that a couple more wins this season would give us some real momentum for the boys to take into next season, so hopefully Russ and the board recognise it’s not all about playing great football, making defensive gaffs and not scoring many goals - us fans do like the odd win.
  4. I think we’ll bounce back from the defeat on Wednesday and continue our improvement securing a 3-1 defeat with a first goal of the season for BBD and only one horrendous gaff at the back Russell martins red and white army……
  5. I think that’s a lot to do with why we are so uncompetitive. Without those we would still be struggling given player quality but we’d be in the game so to speak. Giving the ball to players in tight areas under pressure means we make lots of mistakes but that’s a hallmark of the RM approach. Its a pretty depressing state of affairs really if we are intending to persevere with this crap
  6. Another defeat and that was dire but I still remain hopeful of at least one more win this season in the league. First half hour thought we went toe to toe albeit the second goal was a disaster and I see we now top the most goals conceded from total fuck ups stat. Thought it could have been more in the end but Lumley did ok apart from the first and second goals…. Stephens as our Captain sums up the amateurish set up. Sent off for pulling hair ! Been supporting Saints for over 40 years and cannot recall a time when we have been less competitive and as a premier league club we are not at the races. RM at the end in the interview seemed quite serene and relaxed despite the defeat and having now won only 1 game in 14. You’d have thought he would be embarrassed but seemed to be enjoying it. Nothing to be done but wait for relegation to be confirmed and people will presumably stop going soon this season. What a dreadful season. Russell Martins red and white army……
  7. I agree it’s not the result that matters anymore as by my reckoning we have won two games out of the last 27 in the PL. We won’t win tomorrow but am hopeful we will see another win before the season is out and we head back down again. I was reading an article in an Irish paper that Bazanu is still some way off a return so that’s something at least. Russell Martin’s red and white army (repeat)…..
  8. no he’s a poor coach
  9. Thought it was a good second half on Friday. Am increasingly hopeful we will get a second win before the end of the season to give us something to cheer
  10. Wonder what random changes we will see tonight Will go for Manning in place of Fraser, Archer for Armstrong and Sugawara for KWP
  11. I’d say there have been multiple points of failure where recruitment is concerned Larios, Stewart, Bazunu, Orsic, Edozie, BBD, Sulemana etc etc
  12. We’ve missed his goals in recent weeks
  13. Imagine next season if RM is still here, we are still passing it from side to side and back again and Baz is back between the sticks Don’t think I could face it
  14. agreed the season is effectively over. feels like we are now in a holding pattern until he loses so many games he is sacked.
  15. We were better today but still conceded three against an off form liverpool I can’t see him being here at the end of the season whatever crap SR come out with about ten year plans, but it will be interesting to see how many games will we lose before he is sacked because we are going to lose a lot between now and the end of the season if he stays
  16. Thought we were competitive, but still conceded 3 and another defeat. We will concede far too many and that’s always typified RM teams so not sure what the club is looking to achieve by persevering
  17. good half apart form the usual balls up multiple subs at 60 mins to ruin the rhythm seems crazy it’s taken until this game for TP to start
  18. sulemana has had a lot of opportunities and has generally squandered them save for the liverpool game two seasons ago. he’s been a total waste of money, along with the likes of larios, edozie, bazanu, charles, orsic etc I agree on TP however and given our dire goals scored beggars belief he hasn’t played more
  19. You have those teams that entertain with their free flowing football, lots of goals but have defensive frailties and struggle, yet stick to their philosophy and win friends for their entertaining football. We on the other hand stick to our philosophy, are naive, play really dull football, have scored the least number of goals in the football league and will go down with a whimper, with other fans only sorry to see us go because we are an easy three points. It’s difficult to now see what the club is hoping to achieve by persevering and feels like we are in a holding pattern until we lose so many games they have to fire him.
  20. That’s the great thing about the PL. We know Liverpool have the better players and, we are missing our best keeper ( bazanu) and striker ( stewart) but they are coming to our home pitch and they won’t have faced our level of intensity and bravery before in the PL, so it’s been going to be close but I’m going 8- 6 saints and we will double our goals tally for the entire season in one single game
  21. we will certainly miss stewart’s goals
  22. Is there any chance of Ross being back for this one ? Feels like we have missed him since his injury at arsenal.
  23. Having checked the league tables in all four divisions, I see that we have the least number of goals scored by some distance. I appreciate we don’t have the best forward line in history, but it’s a sad indictment of the way we play the game, that it generates so few goals.
  24. What’s the point in spending a lot of money in January, they keep repeating the same mistakes. Suspect by January we will be cut adrift so hopefully they don’t bother and save their cash and spend it more wisely next year, as this season is a write off.
  25. I cannot see us getting 20 points. That assumes we play to our strengths but we won’t so I think we have to assume a hefty discount for the fact we are so badly coached. Looking at the fixture list by the time we get to xmas there’s every chance we will still only have 4 points. Over Xmas looks more promising but we will be effectively down by then so god knows what morale would be like. I will go for low teens - ramsdale will play a couple of blinders and there will be some meaningless matches in the Spring where the other team will be on the beach and that gives us a decent opportunity to pick up a win or two. What a season this is !!!
