  1. The new Anders Svenson for me Has all the skill seemingly but just can't seem to get hold of a game and really impose himself on it. He's only young though so plenty of time. I look at players of a similar age like Wilshire and Ramsey and wonder why he can't be as effective as them. They are playing a similar role to him and yet have more dynamism and look for the space a lot more than Gaston. He runs into cul-de-sacs far too much. Perhaps symptomatic of our style of play?
  2. I've got a pal getting mine today but am miffed I he can't get a child ticket for me. So I'm having to cough up the cost of an adult ticket for my 9 year old or risk not getting any at all on Wednesday.
  3. Agree MoTM to Lovren. Superb and a real competitor. Tenacious in the tackle and no soft touch. Pure class. Thought Clyne was superb too and never troubled. Pace to burn. A little disjointed first half and scrappy as others have said. The fast start to the second half was excellent. At last some quality on the ball and a nice bit of pace moving it around. Very easy winners in the end. Palace look in trouble already.
  4. No running down the tunnel today from Ozzie
  5. Hmmmm.... Unlucky by palace there... Always feel a little uncomfortable talking about the game being done and dusted with 10 mins left
  6. Love Lovren... Tackles hard! A winner and leader at the back there.
  7. Pace is the key. When we move the ball quickly we unsettle the oppo. When we slow it down we struggle. Premier league we're havin' a laugh loud and clear now.. Assume that's saints Rather than the palace fans.
  8. Very happy with this. JRod hasn't really hit the ground running this season and I see the industry and endeavor of Davis winning the ball back a lot this afternoon... hopefully we can get it moving quicker in the final third and create a load of chances.. can we take them that is the question. A fired-up and fresh JRod coming on the final 20 minutes is also a good option to have.
  9. Interesting seeing Osvaldo's tweet on Saturday night that he is growing anxious to notch his first goal for us... Hope he can get off the mark soon... be a great fillet for his confidence. "Yeah ! Well Done Saints! I am really happy for the victory! And I am a little anxious for the goal that does not come.." *for those that hadn't seen it.
  10. DRAW - Palace h LOSE - Swansea h LOSE - Utd a WIN - Fulham h DRAW Stoke a WIN - Hull h 8pts which means we slightly drop our points per game (ppg) average from the first 5 games (1.6) to 1.33 which isn't so bad in the Prem IMO. In fact 1.3 ppg = ~50 pts which in the past 10 years has been top 10 finish with the exception of 05/06 and 06/07 when 50 pts was only good enough for 11th.
  11. Have cancelled my AJ subscription... was never perfect for me anyway... back to Bloodzeed on Acestream... perfect HD 2000kb/s stream yesterday for the Manc derby. Good old Dave and Big Adam on saintplayer will also do for me. I dream of giving the club money for live tv converage of thier games. Won't happen anytime soon I know.
  12. He's ****e at overheads though... not good enough!
  13. Liverpool some decent pace in Moses and Sturrdige.. tough game up there I think.
  14. Coutniho looks a terrific player... I like the fact that he's a tough little cookie too... full of tricks and rides a tackle well. No lying about on the floor either. Would of loved to of seen him at Saints.
  15. Damn you!!! My apologies
  16. Some of the comments here are genuinely laughable. Fact is we should of beaten them today (Osvaldo's miss from close range was a great chance TBF). My reasoning for feeling we should of won is based on the fact they had key players out up front and came to spoil things. They did their job superbly whilst not really threatening (due to their missing players). Job done by West Ham. Keeper had a blinder and got them the 3 points. Credit where its due. To call what West Ham did today anti football is derogatory. Saints were unlucky and lackluster in equal measure. We'll beat better teams than West Ham this season and lose to worst ones. Instead of blaming individuals I am looking forward to Pochettino solving the issue of how best to set his team up to beat teams that play like West Ham did today. As some have discussed it seems genuine width is missing. I am still convinced our full-backs are key but were not allowed to play today. Fair enough. It'll be interesting to see how he aims to get them more involved. From a non-knee-jerking, non-clapper non-wrist-slitter. As you were...
  17. Hmm... got to say... Wanyama has given the ball away a little too much and been surprisingly weak on the ball. Does anyone else think he under hits the ball when he tries to pass as well??? I'm not hammering the lad just an observation also he's not the only one guilty of gifting possession. A bit of a mixed bag really. I think we are struggling to move the ball through midfield and we can't get Clyne or Shaw into the game further up the pitch to link with Adam and JRod who are both going looking for the ball too much... A lot of this ugly disjointed play has to be attributed to West Ham's excellent spoiling tactics. Dare I say it a little Pochettino-esque albeit without the players to move into dangerous areas quickly.
  18. I love a visit to KUMB twice a season when we play them. I love how we get hammered on there as delusional bumpkins who think we are Barcelona... Brilliant stuff from them. Saying all that this is a home game and therefore a game we should be winning. I don't care if they play some nice stuff mixed with the direct stuff. Mixing it up is also something we employ at times when necessary. Simple fact is: we should win this one. They would feel exactly the same in the reverse fixture. 2-0 Lambert, Morgan
  19. Am I the only one who thinks Ukraine aren't all that?? They are better than Scotland and Moldova but they are not Germany or Spain. I think England should be confident of getting a result tonight and I also think Rickie will get chances. Up the saint!!
  20. Welbeck really is pretty average. Lucky he plays for Man U I guess. Sad indictment of England is that this useless chump will get 50 caps. Oh aye well in SRL !!
  21. I feel for you man... I genuinely do. To be so negative in almost any situation re the club must take it out of you. Seriously, just try and smile and think happy thoughts. Think of you kids, think of how great life is.. Go on.. Do it now.. The world ain't so bad and its only football mush despite what that idiot Shankly said(sic).
  22. I don't think it was an Adkins invention playing with wing-backs last time I looked. Haven't most top teams in Europe been employing these tactics for several years? Having two fullbacks that are good enough to play this way is the real key. We are extremely lucky to have arguably the two best young English fullbacks in the country. You bet they are important to our system. They are the system! With those two in the side and playing well we become an offensive 1-2-2-6 team. Yes we are susceptible to the ball over the top into the channels but I thought that was where Wanyama comes in with his ability to snuff out those kinds of counter attacks. Time will tell. I'm staying positive. When Shaw and Clyne come back in we will see a different Saints to the one that has stuttered to get going this season.
  23. That's brilliant... absolute quality
  24. Clyne and Shaw return = different look to Saints. That's how important they are to us. It's as simple as that. You can quote me back when I'm right. Thanks HTH blah blah. Yours Forum superstar wannabe. P.S. I realise I need to seriously increase my post count by about 20k to be considered for the above position.
  25. One of the best posts I have seen on this forum in several months. Perspective, no agenda, insightful and just bloody honest and a fair summary of the facts. Top, top post benjii.
