I'm over there in 2 weeks - everything is lined up but to close bank accounts I have to be there in person 😬

Jesus...God I need to complete on my place before this house of cards falls. How do his cheerleaders on here feel about this?

And that is what the US is good at refining and most of their refineries are tailored towards (heavy crude). It's why they want Venuzuela's oil, and why they are always so interested in the ME.
-
It's not worth it, he doesn't get it. Suffice to say, if we want more energy security then renewables is the way to go.
-
No it couldn't because the UK Government: (a) can't extract it (b) can't refine it (c) can't choose where it then goes That's even before the fact that there's not much there.
-
You're still not getting it. The only way to get energy security is to have the fully vertically integrated network. That's something that was taken away from us by Thatcher and no amount of increasing or decreasing the amount taken from the North Sea will change that.
-
No, you posted the following in response to my post about looking into increasing our renewables for more energy security: "We could obtain more of our own energy from the North Sea in the meantime." Just admit that you didn't understand how the energy markets worked in relation to our North Sea reserves and we can be done, or we can go through all your other posts showing your misunderstanding and that at no time in those posts were you discussing the fact that Thatcher and her Tories fucked it up for us. After all, "energy security is not solely about price."
-
Doesn't really help us from an oil point of view or increasing our energy security as claimed by Alex.
-
You said "We could obtain more of our own energy from the North Sea in the meantime". How would that work?
-
Why? Whoever extracts it will take it somewhere to be refined.
-
But we can't refine a lot of it, so that doesn't really matter.
-
No it wouldn't, the private companies sell it where they see fit based on global oil and gas prices. That's the issue. Have a read of something other than X: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-67945281
-
Don't we have an issue with high cost of extraction, the fact it is extracted by private companies that sells on the open market, and the fact that we can't refine a lot of it?
-
Yet again we are going to see issues with inflation and shortages due to the geopolitical landscape. The quicker we transition to more renewables the better for our security, but unfortunately whilst we continue to race to the bottom from global trade shocks like this will always be around. Capitalism needs a reset.

As I asked you, if the poll is a genuine, non-doctored poll, what are the issues with it being used? You understand the difference between a poll and facts presented by an organisation I would assume.

Sorry, what's this saying? I'm not on X because it's a mouthpiece for cunts, run by a cunt and read by cunts. -
Oistins down to St Lawrence Gap in Barbados is great - we really enjoyed the Bougainvillea out there (and preferred it to Sandals). St Lucia is also great, The Landings is a lovely resort, as is the Windjammer. Antigua we loved Carlisle Bay but that can be a bit pricey. All islands though I would suggest renting a car so you can see the island. Roads are piss poor, but people drive so slowly it's fairly safe. Also, make sure you don't eat all the time in your hotels, the people are lovely and the food is varied and great. We're early 40's that act like we're 60's, so would probably work well for you... Edit: In Barbados the beach that has the Radisson on (Pebbles Beach maybe) is utterly incredible, you can swim out and see the turtles swimming underneath you, and when my daughter and I went swimming by the pontoon we swam over a reef shark, which was very cool. Great tortoise sanctuary as well on Barbs.

As long as it's not a poll of Daily Mail readers that's meant to be a poll of a cross-section of society, then yes that's fine.
-
I think the question really is "Does having an agenda make a poll less valid as long as it is not doctored? The poll subject will be leftist, but that's it.

We have a very large property with 9 inch non-cavity walls and 3 meter ceilings. Downstairs we dug out the floor and put in underfloor heating, but upstairs we have rads - although not a lot and quite small. For us to get proper use of an ASHP we'd need to increase the size of the radiators to ridiculous levels.
-
Unfortunately our place, being a 250 year old farmhouse, is not suitable for them. However, we do have 16KW of solar panels and a 20kw battery which means in the Summer our bills are about £9 a month with our buy back tariff.

Don't be stupid, they use Davy lamps in that part of the world.
