Today was a travel day, with Wednesday and Saturday as game days. So there's only three solid days of training to be had: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (and maybe a bit of today and Sunday on top, if they fly later?) If a player is injured and isn't participating with the group, why would you stick them on a plane drag them over to Girona for three days of training which they can't even join in with? May as well leave them with the larger medical/rehab team back in Southampton, with access to better facilities, and get them to rest up and rehab for the games that actually do matter

Yeah, Coufal went. Both of their starting full backs are African internationals now (Diouf with Senegal; Wan-Bissaka with Congo) so KWP is some good insurance against AFCON as a minimum, with ability to be much more - and can play on either side obviously
