Yep, if it’s going to be a 10th-18th place season of consolidation and freezing out some of the wankers in the squad, let’s at least have some players like Robinson, Sesay, Dipepa to give us some hope with the better older heads to support them.

We’ve had a PL-type pre-season and Spanish sunshine to reward apathy and abject failure was typically tin-eared. Should have been Eastleigh, B Rovers, Crawley, Reading, Cardiff and Huddersfield. Tough, physical, competitive warm-ups to get ready for what’s to come.

This is what you get with ‘project signings’. We’ve got to re-set our expectations, top half would be good going.

Has done pretty well, at least showed some energy and moments of quality in the middle which we’ve been starved of as supporters. Basics of football really. Bit different to facing a very experienced operated in O’Brien next week though.

It’s a pointless fixture as well, if L1 and L2 hadn’t have been starting a week earlier, playing Cardiff, Luton or Peterborough would’ve been a better idea. Should have been more of those sort of games in pre-season more suited to our worst squad for 15 years.

Apart from Charles, Downes when fit again, possibly Downs, AA and Archer if Still can get them going again, the squad assuming MF and TD off is hugely lacking in top 6 Champ quality. Need a lot of new faces quickly.

Shaky after the disallowed goal but it was a decent first 20. #1 keeper signing a pressing priority as is some pace and width.

There are some positives to add 4-5 automatic starter signings to - Downs has looked tidy when he’s actually had any service. Stephens and Bree very poor, Baz ok first 20 but very shaky since the disallowed goal. Can’t see him coping with the derby game in September.
