How you can welcome back a movement which on January 6 which tried to overturn an election through violence is astonishing to Europeans in the 2020s and puts America increasingly into the Russia and China sphere for me.

The demographic to watch is non-College educated women, especially comparatively older ones. Used to vote Republican often but the group apparently breaking for Harris. Striking down Roe Vs Wade might be about to rebound on the GOP. Trump has been trapped on the issue a bit like Corbyn was with Brexit - as soon as he says anything vaguely pro-choice, the GOP fanatics and evangelicals have kicked off. Even if they aren’t of child bearing age any longer, they have daughters and grandchildren. And women vote more than men in America by an average of 4%.

Being cynical it helps offset the NI increases and tucked away from the main budget statement.
