We all want the best players possible for us, but is there an elephant lurking in the room... how much can we afford to pay in wages? I sort of get the impression that we won't be/can't be among the better payers in the league So does that mean we will only be able to attract young or journeyman players?

exactly. Looking at my crystal ball we won't exactly be lighting up the Premier League next season so possibly our expectations in the calibre of player we will be signing would be commensurate with this. We are definitely not going to get the best signing for us, I suppose it's how far down the quality scale we go to persuade players to actually come here.

I think I would be in favour of this. I've always thought that there is no substitute for experience and that somebody of his standing in the game would have a lot to pass on to the younger players, I think that players like Charles would pick up a lot from being around him.
