Don't beleive a word you post given your recent record. I'd get yourself a new user name if you want to start more silly threads. K.

I understood that Liebherr was close to doing a deal when Pinnacle got exclusivity. Liebher is quoted as saying he was interested in May. "Pipped by a few hours" according to the Echo. In effect Pinnacle delayed the eventual takeover by about 4 or 5 weeks. K.

Errm, well there was the time you told us there was one single multi-millionaire purchaser behind you, and the time(s) you told us you were going ahead any day now, etc , would definitely be buying the club for certain regardless, etc. Came pretty close to rubbish in my dictionary. K.
-
Well if he is peed off it surely must be with Lynam etc, not with the new lot. K.

Interestingly Solent this morning said we hope to make an appointment by Saturday, and also South Today implied similar last night, in contrast to them both recently saying maybe this week, maybe not. It's a fine semantic difference and maybe I'm clutching at straws, but ...... Maybe we should ask Lynam. ;-) I see he reappeared on 'the Oldknow in no hurry' thread, and people are still taking him seriously! K.

I'm sorry Pilchards but I'm really struggling to decipher this. Are you saying that the rumours indicate Strachan, or wise , or that you've heard both rumours? Subsequent posters on this thread seem to be interpreting either way depending on how they want to read it! My view for what it's worth, is: Strachan ...wonderful! Wise ...bloody hell. You must be joking - old school, poor man's Redknapp, and not very bright. The 2 together .. can't see Strachan agreeing to that personally. K.

Err no, not exactly. Has built up own business empire worth billions, admittedly after an inital leg up from family. But then apparently Alan Sugar's parents helped him at first too ;-) K.

+1 k.

Quite. Remember the excitement when we were led to believe that Keegan was going to be manager? That excitement would have sold more season tickets and generated a high all round that would have given a real boost to the start of the season ...albeit with no guarantee it would last if results disappointed! On the other hand, apppointing someone like Adams would deflate the initial enthusiam, but he would soon win us over if he were succesful. The ideal is a popular keegan type who is then successful. No problem eh! K.

The difference is that Shearer has virtually no managerial experience, so whilst he hasn't proved himself yet, nor has he failed yet, whereas Adams has proved himself to be a failure as a manager. Personally I don't care that he's been at Portsmouth .. red and white specs irrelevant. It is the fact that he is no good that is relevant! I thought we'd be hearing definite news early today. Am very surprised that (apparently) the new owner had no one lined up to replace Wotte immediately. Why then did Oldknow sack him immediately? K.

Plus I have every intention of occasionally clapping politely from the kingsland ;-) K.

New striker is called Billy Tell, and new mascot is Heidi something. K.

Ok, but no music after goals ! K.

Given that the William Tell Overture (that's the Lone Ranger theme music for the old but uncultured!) is just about the only Swiss song anyone knows , and that 'Markus Liebherr' almost scans, we surely must start singing: Mark -us Mark-us Mark-us Leibherr Mark -us Mark-us Mark-us Leibherr Mark -us Mark-us Mark-us Leibherr Mark -US! ... Mark-us Leibherr over and over again. K. PS I make no charge for this brilliant piece of creativity ;-)
-
It's Markus! With a k. Let's get the bloke's name right at least. K. ( ;-) )

LOL A few Swiss flags might not go amiss. K.

Blimey mate. Did you go to any games last season? Yes he was a bit dodgy when he first came , but once he got his confidence back he got better and better, and last season it was only his keeping that stopped us being completely humiliated, let alone relegated. K.

From what's been said, don't expect silly money. Mind you just to stop losing our best players would be something. Really chuffed to keep Kelvin. K.

I think you need to re-write your 'location' statement Art. You seem to feel above every sunshine there is a cloud. K.

We never needed one. That was nonsense supposedly ITK people posted on here when they invented the possibility that pinnacle were fighting a further points deduction. The only possible 'debt' now may be a promise to pay the creditors less now and more later. Pinnacle's bid was repoertedly relatively low to begin with (it became obvious why!) but with promises of further installments if/when we got promoted. As far as I know no one has spelt out the details of Herr Liebherr's deal, but at one stage Fry implied that whoever took over would have to take the form of contracts prepared for pinnacle because there wasn't time to re-cast them. So who knows if Markus has paid all the £12.5 million (?) upfront or is paying in installments? Either way it will have been agreed with the creditors and we will no longer have mortgage or overdraft interest payments to cover. K.

Which is part of the FL's justification for the -10. By going into administration we (eventually!) gained a financial advantage. K.

So maybe this thread will make 150 pages after all? I thought from last night's news that we'd have heard by now of the time of a formal announcement --- the mythical 2pm press conference. k.

No. Unlike chelsea who have borrowed vast sums from Abramovitch (after he bought them from previous owners) to buy and pay players, we won't owe the new owner anything. He will have paid that much to buy us. That money has gone towards paying the creditors some of the money they were owed. Once done, clean sheet. His shares are then worth whatever someone else might want to pay him. The club won't owe him anything, any more than anything else owes its buyer. I bought a newspaper yesterday. It doen't owe me anything, apart from a moral debt to have less irrelevant crap in it about dead pop stars and live soap ones. He could of course choose to lend the club money in future however. K.
-
He seems to be wealthy enough to be able to invest if he thinks it is worth it, as opposed to being strapped for cash and owing big money back to the bank that he borrowed to buy us like others might have been, and really that is all that matters. Having even a mega-rich owner doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a big spender. Remember all those QPR fans waving tenners at the chelsea fans? Look a bit silly now don't they? Abramovitch *lent* chelsea so much, allegedly in order to move money out of russia, rather than just to improve his 'train set'. I can't think of any other rich owner throwing money at a club since Jack Walker at blackburn, and what he spent would seem peanuts by todays' standards. So the main point in the saints v other club boasting argument is we aren't broke and we aren't owned by a crook, (or, as far as we know yet, a nutcase.) K.

IMO we might have kept Surman, but even for him the draw of premiership would have been strong. But I dso think Kelvin would have stayed ...or is he still going to? Anyone got an update on him? K.
