Surely as new owners they'd still have to pass the test? Genuine question, not a dig. It's reasonable to assume they'd pass easily given their track record, but that must take a day or two at least. I wouldn't want Pompey to see go under completely, but I reckon you're pretty well screwed for the near future whatever happens. You're only a plausible investment whilst you are in the premiership ..that's your only asset really in professional football terms.. so spending big money to take over your debts from Gaydamak when vthat staus is far from guaranteed would be a hell of a gamble for anyone. Dein's not stupid, and I don't see him as having been a closet diehard pompey fan during all those years at Arsenal, so he'd want a safe return on his investment. K.

...apparently. Paper version of Echo today says Holmes is injured, and quotes Pardew as saying he does want to keep him and Holmes does not want away. K.

According to http://www.opm.gov/EXTRA/INVESTIGATE/is-01.PDF both countries allow dual citizenship, and he does meet UK requirements for naturalisation. So there must be some further complication beyond just the work permit issue. Like maybe he or we changed our minds! K.
-
Half-answering my own question now I've googled it, since he has been here the required 5 years he can indeed apply to become a UK citizen and thus would not need a work permit. So what's the problem? Would he not still be eligible to play for Tunisia? We allow dual citizenship in the UK don't we? Besides he isn't getting picked for Tunisia any more. More than meets the eye to this story IMO. K.

Last I read on here we hadn't even applied for a permit because we didn't expect to get one -- I think becasue he's played so few internationals lately-- so we can hardly appeal. On the other hand can't he apply for naturalisation as an UK citizen now he's been here 5 years? Either way I'd have thought we'd have signed him by now if we were going to. K.

Quite. Thanks. Some of you lot could start a fight in an empty room. As I said I was merely curious. There was no implicit, let alone explicit, criticism of Liebherr. K.
-
So for that matter, was he at huddersfield? How keen is he on playing with his new 'train set'? The more of a fan he becomes the more he'll get sucked into spending money! K.
-
What it says in the title. Am simply curious to know is he going to be sufficiently committed, and interested in us, to attend every game, home and away? Or will he just pick and choose games? K.
-
Hadn't heard that. He's had some great games for us ... but of course he's missed so many. Is he simply never going to be really fit, or does Pardew just not rate him? (as seems to be the case with Gillet). K.
-
How about Lee Holmes, or Kayne McLaggon when he's fit? K.

They appear to have decided they are too busy selingg tickets so that there isn't time to post out forms to generate more sales (another problem the bloody pinnacle timewasting caused)...nor for parking season tickets either, but I did get an email with prices ..after I'd renewed! K.
-
Me too. Not much of a discount was it? Just got visa card statement today which brought the point home. 2 season tickets, 1 extra £10 for Ajax on top of the 2 frees plus a season's parking ...total c £840 . Not cheap for 3rd division, and not much reward for my 17th year as a season ticket holder. Still ..we've got a club eh! What else would I spend it on? K.

Was very worried by the fixation with 4-5-1. Putting Paterson on the wing was especially daft. Anyone else wonder whether maybe Pardew asked Henderson to play 4-5-1 so he could see how the team played in that formation? Can't imagine any other reason why he wouldn't have changed shape during the game. AP said they'd spoken a few times before saturday. BTW is Gobern not fit? Holmes? Was surprised not to see either on the bench. K.

Last play off place, by skin of our teeth. K.

And a 'press conference' or two? K.

Don't beleive a word you post given your recent record. I'd get yourself a new user name if you want to start more silly threads. K.

I understood that Liebherr was close to doing a deal when Pinnacle got exclusivity. Liebher is quoted as saying he was interested in May. "Pipped by a few hours" according to the Echo. In effect Pinnacle delayed the eventual takeover by about 4 or 5 weeks. K.

Errm, well there was the time you told us there was one single multi-millionaire purchaser behind you, and the time(s) you told us you were going ahead any day now, etc , would definitely be buying the club for certain regardless, etc. Came pretty close to rubbish in my dictionary. K.
-
Well if he is peed off it surely must be with Lynam etc, not with the new lot. K.
-
Interestingly Solent this morning said we hope to make an appointment by Saturday, and also South Today implied similar last night, in contrast to them both recently saying maybe this week, maybe not. It's a fine semantic difference and maybe I'm clutching at straws, but ...... Maybe we should ask Lynam. ;-) I see he reappeared on 'the Oldknow in no hurry' thread, and people are still taking him seriously! K.
-
I'm sorry Pilchards but I'm really struggling to decipher this. Are you saying that the rumours indicate Strachan, or wise , or that you've heard both rumours? Subsequent posters on this thread seem to be interpreting either way depending on how they want to read it! My view for what it's worth, is: Strachan ...wonderful! Wise ...bloody hell. You must be joking - old school, poor man's Redknapp, and not very bright. The 2 together .. can't see Strachan agreeing to that personally. K.
-
Err no, not exactly. Has built up own business empire worth billions, admittedly after an inital leg up from family. But then apparently Alan Sugar's parents helped him at first too ;-) K.

+1 k.

Quite. Remember the excitement when we were led to believe that Keegan was going to be manager? That excitement would have sold more season tickets and generated a high all round that would have given a real boost to the start of the season ...albeit with no guarantee it would last if results disappointed! On the other hand, apppointing someone like Adams would deflate the initial enthusiam, but he would soon win us over if he were succesful. The ideal is a popular keegan type who is then successful. No problem eh! K.
-
The difference is that Shearer has virtually no managerial experience, so whilst he hasn't proved himself yet, nor has he failed yet, whereas Adams has proved himself to be a failure as a manager. Personally I don't care that he's been at Portsmouth .. red and white specs irrelevant. It is the fact that he is no good that is relevant! I thought we'd be hearing definite news early today. Am very surprised that (apparently) the new owner had no one lined up to replace Wotte immediately. Why then did Oldknow sack him immediately? K.
