So that's why he was so widely reviled.

God, you can see the different sources for those two articles, can't you? Or at least, you can see where the second one comes from - Storrienet in its final throes. How unfair of anyone to suggest that poor old Peter was ever actually running the club or responsible in any way for anything that happened there! I'll believe there's a retraction or correction coming from Andronikou when I see it - which I won't.

I think that, whatever happens, the PL will only be willing to advance the first year's parachute payments to Pompey - nothing more than that. Doing this would keep them staggering along till the end of the season, after which they magically become somebody else's problem. It's worth noting that the PL were completely unwilling to do anything for Pompey until they were officially in administration, with nine points deducted - thus ensuring their relegation. I'd guess that Andronikou was told in no uncertain terms that he'd better be a good boy and not gripe about or contest the deduction if he wants the PL to be nice to Pompey. If they were to advance future monies (ie those beyond next season's payments) then they'd face a furious reaction from other clubs, and probably the Football League too. Plus, of course, they simply wouldn't have the money around to do that. In fact, I'm not even sure where the money to advance next season's payments would come from.

Yep, my reading of it too!

Very different tone from so much of what's been in the media up till now. Clearly the absence of Storrie makes a major difference, though they do have that priceless quote from him at the end. If you look at the main points it's far more realistic: First, they're accepting the points deduction, just as we knew all along they would have to. Second, they've received nothing from Lloyd's mysterious consortium (compare that to reports at the start of this week that £3m had been paid and the group was about to enter a 14-day period of exclusivity. Third, Andronikou is clearly very dubious about Lloyd's group. Fourth, he's pointing the (fish) finger unequivocally in Storrie's direction - and is very clear about Storrie only being around for the very short term. To cap it all, he is very scathing about the way that Pompey have been run - an example of how not to conduct business. I think that Andronikou is finding out more and more with each passing day and, as a result, liking his work there less and less.

One of those games where it just didn't happen. Too many Saints players had poor games - Davis, Thomas, Fonte, Jaidi, Hammond, Schneiderlin. Harding was OK, Lallana too, Lambert and Barnard so-so. Puncheon just couldn't do a thing right, and the same went for James for the brief time he was on the pitch. Too many passes went astray, we were beaten to the ball far too often. That said, we might well have won if we'd taken one of our chances in the first half. And the goal was shocking comic cuts stuff - dreadful ball from Fonte, pinged around then ran forward for Austin, with no defender within several yards of him. Swindon, while hardly giving a footballing master class, still did enough to win the game. We weren't given any time on the ball, and they always seemed to have two players on Puncheon and Lallana in particular. But we should be good enough to counter that. Tonight we weren't.

Yep, I saw that programme too, and very good it was - if a tad mind-boggling!

Ooh, I don't know. I think maybe Hoddle would have been better than Hoddle. If not, then Hoddle would certainly have been better.
-
I've no idea if he's interested in moving into a coaching role, but if he is I could certainly see him playing a part there. If he could pass on even a fraction of what he knows about positioning and reading the game it would be of great value to the likes of Aaron Martin.

Yes, he does go on a bit about how much we hate him, doesn't he (W******d that is, not Atticus Finch of Maycomb). Surely he's regarded more with a mixture of pity and amusement - it would be hard to bring oneself to hate such a sad case.
-
Quite right too. Watt were you thinking of?

All together now: One team in 'ampshire, there's only one team in 'ampshire, one team in 'ampshire...

I thought the most remarkable thing was that, at the time he changed his name by deed poll, he was actually married. Wonder where his sister is now...

We're always ahead of the game on here! I notice that in the News article it's stated that Lloyd's consortium is "in the process of handing over a £3M bond to administrator Andrew Andronikou." How long will this process take I wonder? Presumably the handing over part wouldn't take too long, so I can only assume that the main part of the process is actually finding the £3M in the first place.

What you want people to 'face up to' is your view of events; you have no monopoly on the truth. Given Hoddle's managerial failures since leaving Saints, there's good reason to suppose that he would have failed here in a putative second shot at it. At least as good as your assumption that he would have succeeded. I'm sure you're not a wind-up merchant, but references to your 'campaign' such as those above certainly make you look like a knob.
-
Do you honestly think people feel intimidated?

When it comes to contesting the points deduction, Andronikou has one thing (and one thing only) going for him, which is that it's something that has never happened before to a Premier League club. From his point of view (ie as an administrator trying to get as much for the creditors as he can) he's quite right to attempt to test both the PL's rules and its resolve to enforce them. I'm sure he knows full well that his chances of staying the PL's hand are negligible or more likely non-existent, but he wouldn't be doing his job properly if didn't at least try. I think the PL board has to meet to ratify the deduction, which is why it hasn't happened as yet; a meeting was scheduled for two weeks ago, but was postponed owing to the HMRC action.

Assault and rape count as minor crimes then, according to this particular ex-copper? And, for that matter, ones which would have been prevented by using stop and search?
-
Oh dear, oh dear. Time will tell and all that, but this really does look frighteningly* like Pinnacle - the sequel. Not just all the hype, meetings with supporters and so forth, but that bit about the £3M being 'in the system with the solicitors' - when, if ever, will it find its way to the administrators? And does nobody at that benighted end of the M27 think it odd that this saviour has met some supporters before leaving as much as a calling card with Andronikou? * On second thoughts, maybe 'frighteningly' isn't quite the word. How about 'hilariously'? Yes, I think that works much better.
-
My but that's good to hear.
-
I think this case is simply to ascertain whether or not he is owed the money he claims to be owed. If he is, he joins the list of unsecured creditors. If not, he doesn't. Nothing more or less to it than that.

You can also do it with just Alt Gr+e - this works for other vowels too. á é í ó ú

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Storrie has a contract which would make it very hard indeed to get rid of him, administration notwithstanding. I'm sure he knows full well that if by some miracle they do get new owners he'll be out of the door pronto, but no doubt he hopes he'll end up getting a nice big envelope to trouser at the same time. I really hope he gets to spend some considerable time inside. I'm not vindictive by nature, but - to paraphrase the great Leonard Cohen - for him I will make an exception.
-
I think that's an error. If they get wound up they'll be placed in receivership, not administration.

It cost a fortune, and has a major design flaw

I thought you meant the plans for the new Fratton Park, which for some reason show the stands facing the pitch.
