The manager is not learning. Victory despite his best efforts.

Watching at home. Tense beyond all sense and reason. Thinking we had done just about enough to hold on only for Sims and Long to send me into Orbit. The noise must have been heard for miles..... Mind you, I think I heard a house just across the road also screaming in delight. At work the next day I couldn't stop smiling, knowing we had a cup final to look forward to in the very same season we had already been to the San Siro!

If we are keeping our manager, then it makes sense to give him the players he wants to fit how he wants to play. A constant cycle of hire and fire only leaves squads bloated and unfit for purpose. So, it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Good luck to Carrillo.

If we beat Brighton.... Spurs were below their usual level today, we couldn't raise ourselves to make the most of it and showed no improvement over our already known weaknesses. (Defensive assertiveness and forward threat, Spurs scored for us......) Wish I had your optimism but I cannot see us getting out of this hole.
-
I understand your reasoning, but we are getting to a point of absolutely needing to make the most of opportunities like today. Time is slipping away, and so are the chances to earn another season at this level. The point was not good enough.

A draw was fair, but that was an extremely unsatisfying result. Clear missed chances again, coupled with Spurs also lacking a ruthless streak. A good result on the face of it with a reasonable showing going forward but it provided further emphasis of our existing weakness, which are not being dealt with. Pochettino said after the game that our position in the bottom three was a temporary state of affairs. No, we are there by right.

Yes, bring him in.

Shades of Andy Reid in Jan 2005.

Halcyon days.

Hojbjerg. The only player to improve under the current idiot/manager.

What is going on!?!?

Winchester City v Saints U23s Senior Cup Qtr Finals
Colinjb replied to Master Bates's topic in The Saints
Wish I had known about this game. Would have been easy to go and see it. -
In defence of Calum Davenport (Not intended as a pun, but still felt odd to type...) I remember him being a totally different player with us to the one I had seen play for Coventry City just a few months previously. He was calm, dominating and a superb reader of the game. The player we gained was not him. Agree with the parallels.... Players losing their mojo. No-one seeming to improve. Things just feel inevitable right now.

An excellent, well considered and entertaining blog. Look forward to more.

It would be hilarious if we got Balotelli. That it may not be funny for good reasons doesn't discourage me.

Here we go.
-
Probably not. But, such are the times we live in.
-
But, knowing our methods we'll get Julio Gamblio from Portuguese division zwei.
-
I reckon. Just personal opinion, would prefer him to our current f*cktard.

Same ****, different week. Good first half and go backwards in the second. Baffling substitutions, no tactical feel or clue. A needless stay of execution for Pellegrino.
-
One moment yesterday. Hojbjerg pushing out from the back.... Only to have no options and to pass back to the defence. He was angrily gesturing to someone, anyone afterwards to make a run for him to play into.
-
But, he starts off by saying: Sacking Puel on a feeling despite there being a firm plan? What a load of sh*te he comes out with.
-
Alex looked decent. Nothing much to do at Old Trafford (MUCH to the credit of others) but what he did he looked comfortable... and he commanded his area well, very well. Deserves a run in the side now.
-
That was decent. Possibly better for having players in the side who care. McQueen, Yoshi, Hoedt, Stephens, Romeu, etc. "Hard work fails when talent fails to work hard." Lets get back to basics, take our resources and push on.
