  1. Excellent pod as always. Looking forward to the live one from St Mary’s in a couple of weeks times. Haven’t missed one since maybe period 130? Even my wife, who likes football but supports Man United (despite never being north of London), enjoys listening and find it constructive and very funny. Keep it going gents 👏🏻👍🏻
  2. They discussed it and was answered for you. Maybe ask the club directly? For clarity, the chaps on TSP are having a discussion, like we are, as fans. They do not work for the club. 😂
  3. It’s amazing when you look at the amount of strong players who’s careers died in the last four years. Bazunu’s was never going to take off after the last couple of seasons. Likewise because of where we are now I wouldn’t be surprised if this was say Finn Azaz’s peak of his career. There’s not many in our squad that will go on to better things. Ryan Bertrand was still strong, Oriol Romeu too. JWP after his transfer. Players that were was exceptional in their own way and own club one year early suddenly tanked in value. Chelsea is an example of where a lot of players careers die. See Axel Disasi, Raheem Sterling, Danny Drinkwater. It’s amazing how the wrong transfer can ruin a career just like tha.
  4. I didn’t say wasted money, but generally you buy players to help the team for years to come. The list above is players we’ve bought and sold under SR, and then loaned out or sold not long later. (Signifying the failings of the recruitment at this club). The fact that there is so many says it all. Armel Bella-Kotchap - there’s another. How could I forget!
  5. I’m going to take a different approach to this - I don’t think it matters who we get 😂
  6. They fucked up the recruitment alongside RM That summer
  7. What’s your conspiracy theory? They literally discuss it in detail.
  8. The Ronald Koeman era was the obvious one. What was it - three points off the Champions League places? Coincidentally that’s when transfer started going wrong too. In recent times, two years ago. Yes we should’ve been a certainty of the autos but I remember going to every game thinking we’ll score at least three or four. You could ready the game, patterns of play, we had impact subs that would make a difference; and above all we kept going until the final whistle. Equally I remember us going into the play offs and thinking we would be steady at West Brom and we’d demolish them in the second leg. The powerful social media content going into those games was some of the best around. A passion, a pride. Then on the morning of the final I remember turning to my Dad on the way up saying “we’re winning 1-0 today, it’ll be scrappy and backs to the wall, but we’re going up”. I’ve never felt so confident going into games. As much as Russell Martin was an absolute chancer and is full of shit, having seen us get a promotion under him and a style of play we and the players would be familiar with, have him over Tonda Eckhart.
  9. On the topic of the 80% of Saints fans want SR to stick around, working in Southampton with a lot of Saints fans, I don’t know a single one that wants them to stay.
  10. If someone said to you in just over a years time you’ll have a revolving door of managers and a circus of players…
  11. Cheers, MLG. Also, Juan went on to sign for Goztepe so the multi-club model is also a HUGE SUCCESS!
  12. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but over a year on from his sacking I’m convinced that Russell Martin staying would’ve meant we got more points in the Premier League and we’d be in a better position now. We’ll never know but surely consistency has to be better than the chopping and changing from Martin, to Juric, to Rusk, to Still and now Eckhart?
  13. Ipswich were below us. They’ve made very few changes over the Christmas period, none of this rotation bollocks. Now they firmly hunting down the autos. Ipswich will win the league.
  14. It got me thinking of all the keepers I’ve seen play for us - Jones, Niemi, Paul Smith, Blayney, Richard Wright, Keller, Bialkowski, Davis, Boruc, Gazzaniga, Gunn, Forster, McCarthy, Stekelenberg, Bazunu, and Lumley. What an era! 😂 Where do I start the rankings?
  15. Just a loan then. They haven’t got £8m they can shell out on a keeper.
  16. He’ll be shipped out on loan next season. Most probably be at Coventry after they get promoted.
  17. Great PR for Sport Republic “we’re doing it right guys” 😂
  18. I see. Well almost no fans will be doing that 😂
  19. What protests?
  20. BACK FIVE WILL RETURN! ITS TONDA TIME! Peretz; Fellows, Harwood-Bellis, Wood, Stephens, Manning; Downes, Bragg; Scienza, Armstrong, Archer
  21. This exactly. I have a cousin from the other end of the M27 who does exactly the same thing. If you feel the need to post about your rivals regularly then you’re probably craving for the attention or recognition that you don’t deserve. Needless to say, we don’t speak. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  22. Agree with Kitch. I didn’t want him to get the role but he made it hard for him not to with that run. It was excellent. But what we’ve seen since is nothing short of underwhelming, careful, fearful and incompetent. Abysmal game management of players over the winter period too.
  23. Just shows Tonda is full of shit in his press conferences; but als sees what we see I suppose. A new GK brought in as soon as possible. The supposed “number one” for us loaned out with almost immediate effect. McCarthy doesn’t even get in ahead of a GK that signed two days earlier and had hardly played for six months. Shows what he thinks of him. Dog shit or cow shit analogy springs to mind
  24. I think most managers, or my mistake, “head coaches” are all doomed to fail with Sport Republic here.
