I think we should be looking at it as Badger says, what they did for Saints, not how good they were throughout their career. I have to agree with the Paine / MLT / Bally trio ... way ahead of Keegan, although his signing made a great impact on letting the world know who we were, he was only here for 2 seasons, and was crocked for half of the 1st one. I would put Lambo ahead of KK and on par with Bally in terms of contribution to the team. He should really be wearing number 9 in old money though shouldn't he?
