I personally feel that a clear out is more likely to happen organically next summer with McCarthy, Stephens, Smallbone, Aribo, Stewart, Bree, Taylor, Fraser, Onuachu and Bella-Kotchap out of contract. Some could still go this year of course, but the value of most of those will be low, and so a lot of mediocrity will naturally come off the books. If we get promoted this season, we are in a good position to build a competitive team.

Spud Bros, a Lancashire firm selling jacket potatoes, are Preston’s front of shirt sponsor this season. I just think it’s neat when local business partners with local clubs, much like P&O’s link to Southampton and their position as our front of shirt sponsor.

He did not want a new contract.

Expect joys such as - Middlesbrough away 8pm kickoff on a wednesday - Wrexham away 12pm kickoff on saturday (moved by Sky) - Millwall away 8pm kickoff on a friday night with a bank holiday on the monday

Good player, surprised he ended up staying after 2022/23 to be honest. Likely more a victim of his environment though, England isn't exactly short of full-backs. Anyway, all the best to him and hope he lands a decent move.

Reading Brentford's forum it is funny how completely opposite Ankersen is perceived compared to here. They affectionately refer to him as 'Ras', for us his name is more akin to some kind of slur.
-
Not sure if they were prepared for Frank to leave. To be frank (lol), it would be great to see them go down. For the health of the league if anything.
-
Anyone know if Smallbone is recruiting?
-
They've just signed Ragnar Ache who scored 18 in 30 for Kaiserslautern as compared to his 10 in 29. Might be looking for opportunities to be a starter and not a bit part player.
-
At the very least I don't see signing for Galatasaray particularly helping his chances. The league is weaker than the Championship and they will just get dumped out in the group stage anyway.

Think you’ve been hoodswinkled there mate.

Shankland

Fair play, thanks Juric. Probably the best thing he will have done for us and he’s not even the manager anymore!
-
The clear out begins. He'll kick on there for sure, 15 goals in 21 appearances for his loan is not to be scoffed at.
-
Not making our money back on him but stump that up to £12-13 million and I'd say that's fair. Personally I don't know if he will amount to much in English football due to his poor end product but his pace may shellshock teams in slower and weaker leagues.

I really do like how passionate Dragan seems to be towards the club, and it's good that he's committed. He has a lot of faith in Spors, let's hope for our sakes' it will be well placed.

It’s bloody hot lately, isn’t it? https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/about-us/news-and-media/media-centre/weather-and-climate-news/2025/met-office-report-details-rising-likelihood-of-uk-hot-days We hit 40C in 2022 and the Met Office are advising it may become more of a trend. This is pretty worrying. Of course some will be loving the heat, but many won’t be! I remember that summer three years ago and it was uncomfortable even being outdoors at times. In classic mild-mannered English fashion I’ve always preferred temperatures in the mid 20s. But no matter how you feel about it there may some very serious economic ripples headed our way: - The cost of rebuilding critical infastructure to accommodate high temperatures, burdening us as taxpayers and as homeowners doing private renovations - The cost of requiring AC units to run on some of the most expensive electricity in Europe - The impact of increased asylum applications from increasingly sweltering areas of the world - Increased medical emergencies especially among the elder generations due to the heat, putting pressure on medical services - Failures of refrigerators and other temperature critical devices under extreme heat - Potential productivity loss as people struggle to cope under the heat and likely more!

The trouble is that those who pose that Reform are the unknown renegades promising to rip up the establishment and kick start a new golden age often fail to scrutinise the performance of Farage et al at a more local level. It’s reactive and not proactive

Wow, the Championship in sixth place. UEFA should start letting us second-tierers into the Conference League instead of the 7th placed Prem team to make it fairer

I suppose ignoring the obviou$ incentiv€ the idea of the CWC is some ultimate competition that goes above continental cups like the Champions League. However, as everyone knows, and as Infantino is trying to ignore, clubs outside Europe range from mediocre to downright awful. World football is not at the level required for this idea yet, and dare I say it won’t be for decades.

They tend to be alright when not talking about football.

Fraser on 40k. Jesus that is appalling. £2m lost for sentimentality on just one player. Some of these guys really need to go this summer to free up the wage bill and quite a few can go next summer on a free as well

Ah yes, the famous Stewart Armstrong jersey…

Two shades and plain back spoils it. Sorry Saints, you’re not getting my money this year either!

I don’t believe O’Riley would come. Downs looks like a good replacement for Onuachu, I appreciate it’s difficult for a club of our standing to acquire a solid striker so I would be willing to take a chance on him. What’s importance is his reactivity, and conversion, picking up a decent striker who has underperformed due to poor service from midfield/wings is the way to go. Of course, easier said than done
