Whether you bought your house or not is irrelevant. You chose to pay money getting a roof over your head. That's the choice here. The other choice was homelessness. igsey has to choose to be in debt or waste potential going forward. Again, not really a choice. Interestingly, both of you had to get help from a bank to make your choices. Neither of you could have done without it. Isn't it weird that neither of you really had no choice?

Hello Andy; which Liberals are the ones that are pro-Europe? I got this through my letterbox this week.

Turkish started a thread on this on the UI and has been largely positive. Positive it is, then.

That's a decent enough rig, Colinjb. I expect that the next seven nights will involve:- 1) Looking through Steam library 2) Identifying games that ran like poo on your old PC 3) Installing games 4) Playing for 5 minutes and thinking "ooh, that's nice" 5) Uninstalling 90% of installed games. Fun times!

Can we lose the deafening silence motif? Most days, the club says bugger all. Doesn't make anyone deaf, doesn't mean anything in the big scheme of things. I completely accept that there has been a lot of speculation on the back pages. However, I also wonder what happens if you've got a four-page sports section and one page's worth of actual news. Actually I don't. Experience suggests that the tabloid dailies will not only fill their back pages with unsubstantiated shíte, but they'll then spend the next day with an article completely contradicting yesterday's unsubstantiated shíte. Anyone looking to solve the problem of the perpetual motion machine should take a look at the nation's back pages to see how something can feed itself almost entirely on its own shít. I'm not your traditional happy clapper. I accept that we're going to get offers for our players, and that sometimes, those offers are accepted. That's football; almost no club is immune, and as fans, we've no problem collectively coveting players from other teams. As long as we're sufficiently renumerated and have done our homework on our targets, it really shouldn't matter over the long term, particularly if the spine of the team has grown up playing with each other. I'm really not sure what you're expecting to hear from the club, especially since we've got recent experience with this sort of thing. Look at the way AoC left the club. Did we show weakness because we let him go? Should we have forced him to stay? The answer to both questions is no; he had his reasons for wanting to get out and it was clear that he was going. In that situation, may as well take the money. You're making out like the board is the ultimate arbiter of whether a player stays or goes, and in a purely technical sense, you're right. However, there are teams that can offer our players opportunities immediately that we can't offer them now. That has almost always been the case. What if Lallana or any other of our stars really want to go? Players aren't unthinking pawns that can be arranged as you see fit. They're people with aspirations and ambitions. I hate to say it, but Lallana and Liverpool are perfect for each other. If the board comes through this period retaining both MPs and ALs services, they'll have done well. There are reports today of them trying very hard. For me, that's all the more reason not to expend board efforts on providing a steady stream of inconclusive information to placate a handful of transfer-fearin' acolytes.

Now I've never called for people to get banned; doesn't preclude me from finding it funny when it happens, mind you. I put subtitles on this video ages ago; no-one gave a f**k. It's got 20 views on YouTube. However, both these posters are now gone. Now I'm not claiming ITK status or nowt like that, but in classic Viz style, do I win my £5?

We've heard it all season. Keeping Poch is the key. We've heard rumblings that many players are waiting to see what he does first before making their own decisions. If this overture is in any way serious, it's good news for everybody. I'm not coming from the perspective as someone who thinks that Poch is some kind of uber-manager that'll guarantee success. However, he's the only person in the world that can provide a bit of short-term assurance to our restive players, especially if that comes with guarantees of spending. Osvaldo aside, I think he has done well in the limited transfer business he has done. Wanyama and Lovren are both players of huge potential - and no-one gets it 100% right. He's also done brilliantly getting the youth players established. Jury is till out on Gallagher, but Chambers and Shaw have progressed beautifully. Ward-Prowse is looking like a very good player too. My only worry is that 6m per year is a hell of a lot of money. It's only really worth it if MP can convince players to stay and can buy enough depth in the squad to take us forward.

When I eventually learn about football, I'd fancy myself as a man who could spin you a bit of info about far flung leagues. As part of my training, I thought I'd watch a Colombian Premier League game (or whatever). Big mistake. Adverts throughout. They don't stop the game; they just dedicate about a sixth of the screen (and all of the audio) to the advertisement. Happens every 30 seconds or so. That is the hell that awaits us.

1) Chill the fúck out 2) See how it goes 3) If it goes well, be happy 4) If it goes badly, be less happy.

Resurrecting this for two reasons. 1) The elections are this week 2) The More UKIP Bother thread is providing a rather one-sided view of the situation. Serious discussion is encouraged here. We don't know it yet, but these elections could be a seminal point in modern British history. Others have argued that UKIP and other anti-EU parties will make no impact on Westminster. In terms of seats won, they are absolutely correct. The system is rigged against any of the small parties; I seriously doubt whether UKIP could command majorities. In terms of seats affected, they are absolutely in the wrong. While some may be fully aware in the differences in electoral system, turnout percentages, etc - I suspect the vast majority that vote UKIP in the EU elections will do the same in the general election next year. They won't win any seats, but can stop others gaining majorities. People have also argued that the results of these elections are meaningless. Again, I'd disagree, but I'm happy to be proved wrong. Strong anti-EU sentiment will be impossible to ignore. If anti-EU parties secure a decent share of the vote, it'll be interesting to see what comes next. I've often floated the theory that one party may break ranks on the issue, but given the lengths that major parties have gone to avoid the issue, I've virtually no faith in it. Returning to the present, I'm just interested in seeing how these elections go. I'm not sure we've seen much like them.

Farage left flustered and irate by LBC interview
pap replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Lounge
I'll have to tell my grandad he's now an Islamophobe. He'll be thrilled. -
Guly will always be remembered as the player that got Glasgow the ban-hammer.

I'm back on zero infractions, despite the one-time threat of an insta-ban.

I'd probably have different choices for best score and best soundtrack. For me, and I suspect many others my age, John Williams is the king of movie music composition. I take on board Chapel End Charlie's Enrico Morricone's advice and would wholeheartedly agree with it, but John William's music added so much to films I really love. I could list Jaws, ET and Star Wars and be done right there, but I especially like the way his music is used in Raiders of the Lost Ark. There are few composers who manage to feel as in tone with the movies as Williams does; perhaps that's because he's had a great deal on input in setting the tone. All of the classics I've just listed would be vastly diminished without his contribution.

Deserves an embed. Got a little emotional there. Good luck Guly; this crop of Saints fans will always remember ya.

Disappointed that there was nothing in this. Quality keeper.

You are of course, to be commended for your latest round of junior arithmetic. On this occasion, like so many others, both the answer and working out are incorrect. Even if you didn't read or hear anything UKIP have to say, the level of coverage this party is receiving is staggering, only matched by the hypocrisy on the other side. "Wah! Nige isn't spending his allowance on EU matters!" "Wah! Some bloke who said Muslims should undergo some kind of loyalty test back in 2006 says the same things now (when we specifically target and cajole him". "Wah! This one party member is racist/homophobic/something-else-I-don't like. This means all of them are" I must confess, I haven't gotten around to looking at the "UKIP is being targeted by media" theory, largely due to all the practical examples I've seen lately. John Denham had the right of it; this kind of negative campaigning, the wholesale labelling of "racist", etc, is going to spectacularly backfire. A lot of people are thinking of voting UKIP. Calling UKIP racist is like calling the prospective voter racist. In a handful of cases, that'll undoubtedly be true. In most others, it'll almost certainly be wrong and the surest way you can deliver them to Farage and co.

1) Dune used to have a thing about grassing (e.g. was against it), so if that were the case, he'd also be a hypocrite or a liar. 2) Possibly. @deppoinexile claims to have five accounts here. Grey Crab could be one of them. Tried to get him to verify that little snippet ( by posting from each of the accounts ). He got a bit sweary at that point, bless. Nothing I've seen on that thread backs up the Tokyo killed Deppo theory.

This is good bidding, and where I'd hoped the thread would get. SO16_Saint is now in the position where he:- 1) can keep £200 John Lewis vouchers, and buy anything that John Lewis sell to the value of £200 2) take the £151 cash, and be able to spend it on whatever he wants, including narcotics and hookers. 2) wait for a better offer than £151, and be able to spend £whatever on whatever he wants, including narcotics and hookers. How many others of us can say that at five to one on a Saturday morning? Think you've got a win here SO16_Saint. PS. Why so keen on cash? Narcotics and hookers?

Here's Deppo's ban thread. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?30618-Deppo/#.U3aOpE2KBKI I've read all 12 pages. According to mods then, it was a build up of infractions leading Deppo to get banned twice, and thus permanently. The only time Tokyo is mentioned is when he himself posts, calling Deppo a ****. I appreciate that posts may have been deleted, but this thread seems to back up everything Tokyo is saying. Nothing about insta-bans. The only weird thing seems to be that Baj forgot to ban Deppo permanently on the second ban. Calling someone a grass is a pretty serious charge. Is there any evidence that elevates this above pure WUMmery?
-
Can we change the thread title to "More (and more) UKIP bashing" please, mods? Entirely justified on the content.

Yawn. Me and my conspiracy theories. Yawn. You and your conspiracy theories.

Having covered this seminal event from the various bits and bobs of information, I have this to say. I agree with the mods. Deppo was perfectly capable of getting himself banned. The Tokyo tsunami thread provides a reminder of his posting style, which I've got no problem with, but can see how others might. Following on from that, it doesn't really seem fair to blame Tokyo for his exit. For example, I could complain to the mods about Colinjb every day from now until eternity, but I'd never get him banned because he's not the sort of poster that produces anything banworthy. My complaints would rightly be thrown out, because there is no basis to complain. A lot of the stuff Deppo posted was on the edge of taste, or over it, depending on your point of view. That said; I'm not sure that Tokes' "report button defence" is particularly relevant. There are plenty of other ways to express dissatisfaction, and besides all that, I haven't really got a problem with the report button anyway. Occasionally someone will be an utter c**t/bore and needs to be dragged back to their senses. Report button is the clearest way to indicate a problem to the mods. Still, we return to the crucial question. Did Tokyo get Deppo banned? Nope. Even if all the charges laid at Tokes' door are true, and he's a moustache-twirling little bastard responsible for pushing Deppo off the plank, Deppo greased the plank to begin with. Considering this sorry affair, I'm reminded of having to deal with my kids talking about a disputed event. Neither give you the whole truth. Tokes' detractors forget to mention Deppo's posting style and likely trajectory. To be fair to Tokyo, I think you can see acknowledgement that he was hot and bothered at the time over on the Beef Tracker thread, but the focus on the report button here yanks that olive branch back a little. Ultimately, I wonder whether this issue has any relevance other than a stick to beat Tokes with. If it is, it's unnecessary. He provides plenty of questionable material day-to-day, and besides, @deppoinexile says he has at least three accounts on here, including Tokyo Saint. What have we lost, exactly?

Why? He's not using EU citizens

Speaking purely about my own professional practice, I almost never bother sending anything unless announcing that something has been completed. There's no point, and it opens the door for trouble and hysteria. If there's nowt conclusive to report, why make a statement?
