Well, I think that Ads certainly got more than a sour reaction today. What was Rodgers doing taking him off during the game? That really can't have been nice for him.

Too many things not working at the moment. I have no confidence that we're going to benefit from corners or free kicks in advanced position. Passing has been frequently heavy, consistently for the last few games. These are all chances gone begging. Perfection is a bit much to ask for, but seems to be a lot of careless play in the final third. Convinced it's a confidence thing; our players have all the attributes to score goals,. I'm not sure that there has been a problem tactically; we're in dangerous areas almost all game. Poor technique is letting us down, and it's not like these players lack the technical ability. They are just not firing right now. Tadic failing to beat the first man at corners, wingers skinning full backs but deciding to pass it back to someone in a much less dangerous position instead of having a go at the last man. JWP's deadly set piece deliveries leading to nowt. That's not to say there aren't genuine problems that can't be addressed with confidence. We have no set piece free kick taker that looks capable of bagging us some goals from those opportunities. Instant game changer, and we don't have it. We also need another out and out striker. Pelle's carrying too much of a load atm.

He has come from the Eredivisie and is now playing in arguably the most difficult league in the world, and is our only guy who can do what he does. Maybe we need to look at changing the system, because although he's doing his support role well, the goals have dried up. He looks frightened when he gets the ball now, a far cry from the bloke who bicycle kicked our way to victory against QPR. Don't think it is just him. All of the attackers lack that tiny bit of confidence. They're all capable of beating a man. I don't know why they're not trying to beat the last defender after they do the full back.

Not a great game. Didn't seem to be at the races at all, and the route to goal seems ever more cluttered. FFS, employ Matty as a coach and teach some of these f**kers to shoot from distance.

Also, david in sweden, I think you're on shaky ground with "I'm fine". In an urban language context, it can be just as self-congratularory as I'm good (fine assed b!tch, etc). When uttered by a fine assed b!tch, or indeed any female, "fine" can mean literally anything.

Reminds me of an incident in a bar in Northern Ireland. Last orders, my mate asks me if I want a beer in earshot of the barmaid. "Nah, I'm cool", I say. Barmaid immediately pips up with "You may not want a drink, but you're NOT cool.". Love the Northern Irish.

Agreed. Let us hope that the team is equal to the task. Feeling as enthusiastic as a kid atm. So damn excited.

The gods of motorways have been good and I am in town for what I consider to be our biggest game since either Coventry or Portsmouth, back in our Championship days. I am delighted that both Ads and Lovren are going to be playing. Think we'll see an open game. Liverpool can't park the bus, either implementation wise or if they are to realise their own aspirations. Huge opportunity to prove a couple of points today, and get all three. Come on you f**king Saints!

Love it when you hear "favourite left foot" instead of "favoured".

True story. The old man and I were on the shuttle bus to the Britannia. We're the only Saints fans on the bus, which we don't really bother hiding. One of them says "we love your eat off the floor chant". Then they all start singing "We eat off the floor..." Total respect

Keep practising. In time, you may be able to give Georgie Porgie a run for his money. Let's not expect miracles overnight, tho'

In this instance I have no problem with repetition

That's an interesting line of thought, Phil, and not inconsistent with what'd be an ideal situation for Israel in the region - a defanged or at least distracted Iran. Apart from Syria which has its own problems right now, it's the only country on the block that still (from their perspective) isn't playing ball. The US detente with Iran has not gone well, and rumours have persisted that the relationship between Obama and Netanyahu is frosty, the worst US/Israel relations have been, recently exacerbated by the Obama administration listening to the overtures of the reforming Iranian president. I did Google the oil sale business. Seems that a lot of it is going through the Kurds:- http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/nov/19/-sp-islamic-state-oil-empire-iraq-isis http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/6c269c4e-5ace-11e4-b449-00144feab7de.html#axzz3SQAprrgJ Various parties responding to accusations of buying IS oil.

I agree with you on the Titanic, but that's surely tasteless commercial opportunism rather than an example of scousers crying their eyes out. I don't share your view that scousers are self-pitying. You're mistaking solidarity and shared concern, I reckon. When the Grand National got called off, I seem to remember scousers taking stranded strangers in, not p!ssing tears because a huge burden had been placed upon 'em. The tenacity on Hillsborough was both admirable and justified. What else would you put in the pantheon of pity?
-
That's disgraceful, and needs to be called out as such. Of course it counts. Why wouldn't it? There's more than a touch of the injured white man about this remark, so take it from someone who has got a few genuine black mates (e.g. not an imaginary counterweight in a sentence beginning "I'm not racist, but..."), we've got it easy. Stopped and searched all the time, never knowing whether a stranger is going to be a racist and perhaps violent plank, having to bite your tongue through slight after slight. If someone is discriminating against someone else on the basis of race, it's racism. Doesn't matter what the inputs and outputs are.

Conflation of Jews and Israel. We're seeing all the classics today.

Ask him whether he approves of people concocting anti-semitic slurs so that they can attribute them to others.
-
What do you think is an appropriate mission for the armed forces? Defence of the realm? Component of an EU army? A projector of power?
-
Based on what, exactly?

Ah, the old trick. Conflate legitimate criticism of Israel with anti-semitism. Are you still getting results with other people on that? Do they wilt when you trot out these vile attempts to smear them? Personally, I need a few more tried and tested taglines before I can get my "Play Bingo With Verbal on SaintsWeb" card complete, so I'd like it you could continue throwing them out, underarm and underhanded as they may be. Three or four new phrases from the playbook would be ideal. There's a lad. Don't hold your breath waiting for a Hague quote. The bloke was on every TV channel militating for some sort of action against Assad. Arming or fighting alongside the Free Syrian Rebels would have placed us on the same side as those we're now looking to defeat. I only really have to back up the things I've said; not the things you insist I prove. I didn't say shít about Hague making a comment about IS (which didn't exist then) or Al Nusra. Oddly enough, your content in this thread is most anti-semitic. Check yourself.

Judging from the content of this post, it seems that you fit the profile of a UKIP detractor. You still as keen on naming names?

The UN? http://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/New-UN-report-reveals-collaboration-between-Israel-and-Syrian-rebels-383926 I like your style, Wade. Too few people feel confident enough to comment without reading. We need to see more of it.
