I’m not saying we shouldn’t have loaned him out, that’s exactly what we should have done. My point is as a lightweight 19 year old with very little experience it isn’t fair to compare him to Downes. He did start off well but got worse, it appeared his confidence dropped badly. My impression was he would become a very good player, which is why it doesn’t surprise me he is getting good reviews.

Why do you say that, I don’t know too much about him. He didn’t have the same level of resources that Martin enjoyed in the championship, but still gave it a go?

He’s a kid
