Mark Dennis' mullet deserves a place to imho. Maybe a scrolling ex-player banner next time might satisfy everyone's requirements.

moving interview: his last public interview I understand.

The sort of sportsman that you thought you knew, the sort of character that (along with many others in snooker's heyday) made you want to be good at the game. Maybe (probably) it's my age but has the game ever matched the popularity and had the characters of the 70's and 80's since? Not just the game of snooker but the world of sport is a poorer man today. I little voice inside my head just said to me "he won't be happy with that" in a forced whisper, a hark back to the good old days of 'Pot Black'. RIP Hurricane (blimey, 2 hurricanes in one day)!!!!

In my opinion the plan to have a Spitfire tribute in the city should be reviewed. Watching the (vid above) silhoutte made me think what an awesome sight it would make at the very bottom of the M3. As impressive, if not moreso, as the Angel of the North. Perhaps on the Chilworth roundabout but that might cause to big a distraction, then again, that is where the City boundary sign is.

Well my two-penneth fwiw, Pards has kept his powder dry to some extent thus far in pre-season and today he could not possibly have risked further injurues so I'd bet they were intructed not to go that extra yard. although tbf I was not there myself. Being a clever chap and is some posters are to be believed, recent results can only strengthen any plea for more signings when he sits down with Nicola.

The ugliest new car award goes to .....

Good call CEC, I am no connaseur (sp) but have never ever liked any of the new Mini range. Partly (I admit) due to loving the old one so much, but they just look to me like very nice cars, good finish, good engines just made to look smaller than they actually are by stealing another designers lines. -
To my eternal shame, our postman delivered a letter from Hants Police yesterday to let me know I'd been caught by a speed camera on the A31 a few weeks back!!! No excuses, I was speeding and have only myself to blame. I don't often go much over the limit but I'm guessing that 39 in a 30 limit is viewed as pretty serious as I've been invited to take part in a 'driver awareness' programme. Anyone have any experience of them and know what the cost might be? I guess it's a toss up between having 3 points and a fine or pay for the course. My nipper reckons you have to stand up in front of the others and say why you did it and what a pratt you have been, but I can't see what positive impact that might have, especially in front of a room full of Sooped-Up Clio driving, baseball-hat wearing, gum-chewing, gangsta stylee, tattoo'ed, pierced and generally bad boys. Then again I guess that I am no better and fully expect to get 'loll'd' at by them all for being a hairdresser's car driving, grey haired, bearded, short-arsed, speccy, pipe-smokin', cardigan wearing, Beatles-lovin', old ****. Please advise....seriously, what should I go for, classroom or points and cash?

Do I know you? I ask as you have many accuracies in your post.

Nope ESB, the authentic leather folding one, apparently it 'suits me' and mrs h sometimes makes me wear it to bed. She say's that it makes me look like 'the sherriff riding into town town kill the baddies'. She has some extremely strange fantasies, I just go along with her for the quiet life. It was not cheap btw.

Anyone at a loose end, I have 3 suggestions to suggest: Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Fair: http://www.netleymarshsteamandcraftshow.org/red-devils.htm And the one mrs hamster and I shall be at.. The Newbury Water Festival in Victoria Park and on the K&A: http://www.newbury.net/ It#s the 200th Anniversary year of the Kennett & Avon, coinciding with the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Tom Rolt, without whom we would probably not have the canal system in it's current state. He travelled around the cut on his nb Cressy during the early war years and published his classic book 'Narrow Boat' which spelt out just how bad a state they were in. Bemoaning the bleakness of the towns and villages along the way which were the very foundation stones of what the industrialisation of this great country. Following this journey he went on to found The British Waterways Association. Top man (if a little bit of a moanypants) The birth and growth of the railways (later the road system) rang the death knell for them and the men and women who silently went about their business of conveying all manner of goods around the country. Even in ther war years they came into their own as an efficient and quiet way of moving provisions and munitions, there was a second great community that grew out of this. There's a lovely sculpture at Stoke Bruerne in memory of the women who made this role their own and worked damned hard to keep the waterways working. Anyway, I shall be there on Sunday, look out for the cowboy hat.

I was privy to a cabinet release today re 'the future', it may be in the public domain already (it was not marked confidential) but I shall check before posting any details. Suffice to say I did not photocopy it as it could have totally ruined my weekend had I read too much. Promise to post if safe. Or hint at if not.
