Will there be any narrowboats there? I've never been but it's well pubicised in all the nb publications. Is it really as 'hippy' as they make out ie funny fags and naked dancing by moonlight?

You missed a cracking set last night. Stones, Who, Credence Clearwater, T-Rex, Bowie, AC/DC, Golden Earring (sp), Sabbath .................... absolutely my kind of gig. It was rocking, beer flowing and a beatiful lady dragging up to dance every 5 minutes like a loon.

We're off to a wedding on a couple of weeks that has been brought forward, it was going to be in 2 years time. Originally the costs, as I am led to believe, were going to put my sis and bruv-in-law into some pretty serious debt. As we all know when the old heart rules the head we all make crazy decisions this was one such case imho. However the couple had a massive change of heart and decided that they just want to be married to each other, result. E-bay for the dress, Register* Office service, cars courtesy of friends and family (I'm taking the GP's in the yellow beast), reception in new In-laws house and garden. They wil in my opinion remember their special day for all the right reasons. The ring on the finger and the tender looks that bond you through that little piece of paper with your two names on it are ALL that matters. Having your two names on a credit agreement can imho delay your enjoyment of what you have embarked on, being a married couple. Fair play if you have the wonga to splash but at the end of the day people who go nuts really do not impress anyone, in fact in my experience it is the big do's where you find guests dissing the the event and is where you hear the most *****iness, rather than the budget one's where people have no air's and graces to put on so just take it for what it is. My first wedding was not over the top but cost my ex FIL a bucketload (Romsey Abbey no less). When mrs h made me marry her my Mum did the cake and altered the dress which was from Plummer's closing gown sale, my suit was from a Burton's sale, she arrived by taxi after her mate's car broke down en-route, bubbly (99p a bottle) was from that little convenience store in Millbrook and the **** up was in a WM club where my old man put a couple of hundred quid over the bar. We even had to put people up on our sofa and living room floor over the weekend. Conclusion: wedding number 1, complete and utter waste of monet and my precious time. Wedding number 2, well, it all hinges on whther she gets off her lazy arse and makes me some toast. Might give it another day. * It's 'REGISTER' Office NOT 'Registry' you lunatics.

If someone genuinely does have a jocular, lighthearted and generally positive side to their personality AND a more serious, (some might say) cynical, deep-thinking side to them, I can't see a problem. Mors people have split personalities than would admit to it, not that it is a crime of course. I can't give an example of course as I am the most level-headed person with no personality flaws that you are likely to meet on here. I cannot speak for my alter-ego as he is currently tucked up in his padded cell. Seriously, I canot be the only one here who does the old two finger 'log-off, log-on (Jekyll/Hyde)' manouvre every now and then when I want to tell someone what i really think of them and their vitriol? Surely!

WANTED - Disabled supporters in the New Forest area

Cheers for all the good wishes and cheers Ponty for sticky'ing it. You'd be surpised just how awkward and more so expensive it can be to get to events like football when someone has mobility issues. Actually, some of you may have seen us towards the end of last season parking up in Granville Street, as part of the pilot scheme. Last few games we were running two buses and for the JPT we took three, again thanks to HCC and John our volunteer. On that note thanks also to the chap (on here) who swapped his two seats so that John could sit with his wife. Unfortunately due to budget constraints we can only be afforded one driver on a Saturday for the time being but the more popular it becomes the more leverage we will have when requesting more paid drivers on a regular basis. I obviously do it through work so it's a real labour of love to be honest and the first game we attended brought a lump to my throat, hearing the buzz on the way home and the excitement was palpable. Any other suggestions for events that people might want to attend please feel free to let me know. A few weeks ago I took a photography group on a narrowboat trip in Hungerford, and I'm sure it hasn't escaped people's attention how much I love narrowboats. -
The Flowerpots should be offered first refusal for any contract going, local beer, local pub, local jobs. Most importantly a great range of ales, wirh some right crackers in there too, something for everyone and as independant as you'll get in Hampshire. Them an The Itchen valley Brewery of course.

It is not a very tall hedge, the one out the back is much taller. ;-)

Strabge fact just came to mind, did people know that when you snap a piece of spaghetti it atways breaks into THREE pieces just like that pole did? Try it, it's pretty cool fact to know for dinner parties that might be going a bit flat.

WANTED - Disabled supporters in the New Forest area

Cheers Matty, I can't take too much credit as it was spawned by an idea that was put in my head by a colleague who I really had tons of respect for, he died in very sad circumstances last year and I thought it would have been such a shame for it to be shelved. I thought it would be handy for Saints fans initially; I would go to work after a game and be inundated with clients asking me about the match, it was a natural progression and as I said Adult Services gave the green light so how could I refuse, my line-manager (Rob, a Spurs fan) has been more supportive than I could have ever have imagined. It's actually grown, even at this early stage, into something potentially quite large. We have interest from all sorts of other local disabled people's groups. If anyone knows of any other groups or individuals that would like to join, please give them that e-mail address. We renamed the group to represent our aims of supporting all adults with disabilities to take part in and attend sport AND leisure activities, there's not many activities that I can't see us including to be honest; from watching football and cricket to a group of mates who want to go to watch some live music down The Brook. Venue accesibility and facilities is probably going to be the second biggest hurdle, after finding volunteer drivers of course. I should also mention that The Club have been fantastic too, nothing has been too much trouble. -

Thanks for the suggections, as predicted I had no say whatsoever in the decision, it was in fact made in my absence. Meet.....'Buddy'! What a stupid name for a dog and I shall not be clearing up after a dog with a stupid name like that, the others can do it them buddy selves.

Any ale would suffice compared to lager and gassy beers for me. Please no Honey, Christmas Special or Chocolatey ones though Nicola. Can I suggest a Saints Real Ale Festival with the top ale's getting the prize of a contract , hold it next summer on the concourse and get some local bands in.

Well deserved, the chap who gave him the break has done well too, initiative is a good trait imho. Below is a true story: Only yesterday mrs h had a chap knock the door asking if we wanted our front hedge trimming, he had an electric hedge-trimmer in his hands. When she began telling me this my initial thought was that he was sussing out the area for empty prooerties to rob (shame on me). Stramnge thing was, half an hour prior to this a different chap had knocked asking the exact same thing, saying he'd do it for £3 (no hedge trimmer in hands though). mrs h thought this a very strange coincidence but all became clear when she got chatting to him. He was living with his mate who had told him to get off his backside and earn some money. His mate was obviously leant him the hedge-trimmer and going ahead of him lining up work to prove that it could be done. He baulked when mrs h offered him (only!) £3 but she told him about the other chap and the penny dropped. She made a cuppa and gave him a fiver when he'd finished, he did a good job and cleared up all the cuttings. Top bloke. My only problem with this is that when I do jobs around the house I get sod all for my troubles. Well, maybe I get the odd 'favour' but that's part od the marriage past imo.

Hi, If anyone knows of any Saints supporters in The New Forest area who have problems with travel to Saints home matches could you please ask them to contact me at s.l.s.g@hotmail.co.uk We (Sport & Leisure Support Group) are planning to run accesible coaches to home games initially, with a long term view of attending some of the more local away games. This is a door-to-door service. Costs will be 'not for profit' and carers/enablers will of course travel free of charge. More details of our aims, rules of membership and our constitution are available on request. We are also very keen to hear from anyone who may be interested in becoming a volunteer driver. We can offer free MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training and the possibilty of a gratis match ticket, subject to availibilty. I should add that this scheme is not limited to the New Forest area, it is just that we have one member in Tiptoe and at the moment it is not financially viable to run a coach for him alone. Other areas that the Group currently run services from are Eastleigh/Bishopstoke and Hedge End/Botley areas. Currently these routes are run on a first come/geographical basis but again they will in time hopefully become more frequent/reliable if and when we recruit more volunteers. Southampton (East and West) is currently catered for by the local Dial-A-Ride scheme so please contact them direct for details of their transport schemes. In the current climate it is quite challenging to secure income streams and for that reason I would like to take this opportunity to thank Hants County Council Adult Services department for their wholehearted backing in setting up and running the scheme. Also I must recognise the small but dedicated team of commitee members who have been invaluable in getting the Group up and running. Mention also to 1-Community in Eastleigh for their ongoing help and guidance. Any enquiries concerning supporting the Group with donations or offers of funding should in the first instance be made to the e-mail address above please. Sincerely hamster

Was it not at Tranmere that some chap's nipper was told off for jumping about and then proceded to sing that distasteful 'Harry Roberts is our friend' ditty, then, defended by his apparently "saints through and through" Dad, was ejected? I could be wrong of course and expect some find the song just to be friendly banter. But it would not endear us to the authoritues perhaps. Also, and although when I saw it occur found it relatively harmless although strictly speaking against the law, we did have that kiddie who was attempting to break the record for the most pitches invaded.

Yep Ponty, bargain. They be worth 4 times their face value in Tesco Deals. As long as you would be buying the item anyway of course, it is a massive saving. For example, we use them when looking for hotels, if we were to stay soewhere costing £200, it has cost us just £50. I may be thiick Ponty but I ain't stupid. You can buy them on E-Bay. Red n White, do you ever see people 'Wombling' in the car parks? I used to do it fervently much to mrs h's embarrasment.
