That is quality, It reminds me of those old hitler spoofs about storrie, if anyone has the know to make a remake of that, I'm sure this thread could offer a couple of good lines.

Having gone from fairly consistent product purchases, food, household items etc. to what seems like continuious change (Apparently down to what is on offer that week), I realised we have completely changed our shopping habits, with the exeception of just a few things (Washing powder, toothpaste etc etc.) Is this the same for everyone and does that render advertising useless if it just comes down to which competitor has a deal in any given week?

Welll it's taken 28 years but at least that's a little bit of pay back for that little tosspot. I hope pulis is the one to give away a freekick, that was never a free kick and the opposition score

THE man who could become Pompey’s new owner this week says he is concerned with how much some players are earning. Sicilian American businessman Joseph Cala, who revealed to The News his intentions to take over at Fratton Park, claims there are eight squad players between them earning a total of £1.1m a month. He told The News he will be ‘fiscally responsible’ if he takes over at Fratton Park this week. Mr Cala said: ‘I am shocked by what has been left at the club. It’s like someone is drunk at the bar and the bar man gives him more drinks. ‘The club is in trouble because they spent too much. You have to spend what you have. ‘It’s not sport, it’s gambling. ‘Everyone needs to stop thinking about money because that’s why clubs are going broke. ‘I am going to spend money wisely. I don’t want to own a club because I am going to pay £2m for a player worth £200,000 just to show off. ‘If someone wants to show off they should go to Las Vegas.’ http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/great-matches/cala_concerned_over_pompey_players_salaries_1_3431093 Pay the Fiver Rallyboy, your work / style is getting World recognition

Actually without making myself look stupid, You can have non cash warrants on a set of accounts, that go right down to the bottom lin and are non cash deductable, that will show a loss, even when the warrant has or cant be executed. (They only example I can give is when VC's exercise stock options or sell stock during or after an IPO. Screws the books for a quarter, but there may be a tiny bit of truth in what he says. .

May be, just maybe there is a little bit of sense in all this nonsense. Cara comes in and pays 14 million quid (As per the Telegraph article) and slashes the wage bill to have the club running within its means, the parachute payments may or may not cover the CVA, but parachute payments come in over two years and the CVA lasts for five, so perhaps a few million on his hip for a couple of years. His pitch to the FL, is slash the wage bill, no investment, club lives within its means (Would have to, can't borrrow money and cara unlikely to put all his wealth into a journeyman pro looking for a final contract) ....and that's probably enough. pompey living within its means, is a mid table league one club..........so the Championship get to say goodbye (In the sameway as the Premier League) and any pending points deductions are irrelevant as if he is slashing the playing squad, then relegation and living within its means will happen at some point either this season or next. Cara gets a club (Chuck in reverse takeover, which gives cara corporation some revenues) and everyone is happy.

The rest of the article......(it is early! lol).............Andronikou has confirmed he is hopeful of completing a deal soon, but would not specify with whom. If it is Cala, his involvement is likely to spark questions among Portsmouth’s embattled supporters. Cala’s publicly visible business record is not overwhelmingly successful, with the undersea casino project the most eye-catching of a number of ventures. On his website www.undersearesort.com, Cala claimed that his “undersea residences” would transform leisure travel. “The change will be so dramatic that it will be compared to the Wright Brothers and the birth of aviation,” he writes. The idea was to bring visitors face-to-face with the marine environment in $500 million (£325 million) luxurious glass-bottomed boats equipped with spas and casinos. Investors appear to have been less certain about the project’s potential than Cala. The Cala Corporation’s most recent filings to the Securities and Exchange Commission, filed in August last year, show an accumulated deficit of $14.3 million (£9.3 million) and raised “substantial doubts” about the company’s ability to operate as a going concern.” On Tuesday night, Cala dismissed concerns about his business background, claiming to have private wealth dating from his involvement in Japanese-backed hotel projects in Hawaii in the 1980s. Cala also said Chainrai would not have let negotiations reach such an advanced stage if he did not have the money to pay him off. “The undersea resorts was never more than a research and development project,” he said. “I do have money, I will be the sole investor in Portsmouth, and I have provided proof of funds of more than £20 million to the administrator. “In the 1980s I was a broker between banks and developers in Hawaii and I operated on a fee of 30 per cent of equity on successful projects. I was involved in major hotel developments including the Grand Wailea and the Western Maui.” Cala, who claims to have played for Inter Milan’s academy side before his family left Italy for the US, warned that he still has reservations about the Portsmouth deal, principally the wages paid to leading players. He said he would undertake massive cost-cutting exercise if he takes control, and will live and work full-time in Portsmouth as chief executive and president. “I am 90 per cent certain [about the deal] but I do have some reservations, mainly about the player contracts. It is my desire to close the deal as soon as possible. “Portsmouth have eight players who earn £1.1 million a month between them. That is in a league with an average budget of £8 million a year,” he said. “Without these eight players the club is healthy, in fact it would be profitable. “I will not come in and spend money just to prove I have it. I say to the fans, trust me, I will spend what we earn.” After five owners in less than 30 months, Portsmouth’s fans will reserve judgment. On Tuesday night Ashley Brown, the chairman of the Pompey Supporters Trust, said: “After everything that has happened to Portsmouth I would trust that the administrator and the Football League are able to do their due diligence so that we get a trustworthy owner at Fratton Park. That owner should have a clear and successful business background so that we understand how and where they made their money.”

Administrator Andrew Andronikou says he still hopes to complete the sale of Portsmouth by the middle of the week. Pompey's parent company, Convers Sport Initiatives entered administration in November, forcing the Championship club to search for new owners. A preferred bidder has been identified, contracts are in place and the next few days are pivotal, Andronikou said. There is an urgency to complete a deal, as investment is needed if Portsmouth are to meet ongoing running costs. Surely not aa, surely not

I wonder if verbal burst a blood vessel typing that lot? And to think that they will be around for many years to come..............calm down verbal, sit still with slow breathing, you know the drill.

So at least we know why this week is key for them. Football League meeting (In the context of the answer, could be suggested that this is when they will decide on pompey points deduction) on Friday. If andriod can get it done and dusted by then, he could argue, no case to answer. He was right this morning..........next 48 hours is pivitol.

Doesn't quite work like that with this one. You can get them on the cheap now, you just have to take on the debt..........Even if the were properly in admin, you would still have to take on the debt which is secured. The parachute payments will keep some parasites eyes twinkling, so it will be all about what the FL decide to do (In terms on cash in escrow accounts, direct payments to the CVA etc. One thing is for sure........... if it is Cala, then this thread has a some legs on it yet :)

Alps point is right and was something that the panel on sky were talking about a few weeks ago. The biggest test for Adkins right now will be integrating the new players into the set up. I would argue that is his single biggest objective, which if gets right, everything else with follow. This is never more relevant than with the current Saints squad. A large part of what we have acheived (IMO) has been based on the closeness and team spirit that has been built. From the singing after promotion, to acknowledging something that Davis did when we were two nil up and into injury time, these guys are tight. Additionally they have all had their contracts extended and seem to have bought into the vision. puncheon was more than capable fo playing for us, but something was wrong and he was shipped out. That is the way it has to be. This is a squad of players and not a team (How many times have we heard Adkins say that? He needs to be absolutely certain on every player and then be prepared for the awkard questions, when a new hire starts over an existing one. Exciting times, but not without risk............So it's a good job we have one of the brightest managers in the Country to see us through it.

As much as I would like to see cala taking over, it isn't going to happen. His first squeal is that he will pull out if it is not concluded this week, as he won't have anytme to buy new players..........(Someone should point out that the FL aren't letting pompey buy any new ones at the moment and if they do, it will almost certainly be "cash up front') Which takes us on to his second squeal that he wishes everone would stop going on about money! (Im guessing this is when android keeps asking for 32 million). It isnt going to happen.
