    Grab A Seat

The next 28 hours will be very interesting. I've got a feeling this will be one of the best closing transfer windows, that we've ever seen. All meetings cancelled tomorrow. Beers on chill, and the new Keegan, on his way :) :)
  4. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-28978540 full cost cutting mode
  5. Actually I've come to quite like Pap, I don't think we are ever going to tick the same boxes on a ballot paper, but he stands up for what he thinks is right and probably has a bit more balls than the rest of us in doing so. He laughs at me for believing what I read/see/hear in the press and I laugh at him that everything is a conspiracy.
  6. Just a little bit.....He spouted some rubbish and then tried to correct himself with ....good luck to them. Looks like they played their first team....I didn't so we will be fresh for Saturday so we can try and get somewhere close to the Premier league, which is light years away from where they are (Saints) when you look at all the players they've sold.:lol: Sorry to break it to you Ian - But we are in the Premier League
  7. From now until the end of the season that would still amount to €50k a weeek
  8. This is exactly what I think
  9. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-28943041 Interesting twist regarding currency. All starting to get a bit nastier.....I'm sure there are still some cards from both parties to play. I have to confess to being an interested (Result only) spectator by this, simply because I have no idea which way it will go and neither do I care. I am sure there are ramifications for all of us, but haven't really spent anytime trying to understand either argument.
  10. I would suggest that anyone who doesn't think it was intentional should be banned. They have no business on a football forum.
  11. I agree with the bit about Pelle, but was thinking that Targett has had an excellent, with the exception of his delivery
  12. Not in football there isn't - In fact it is completely the opposite.
  13. Exactly! Much like errmmmmmmmm a transfer fee??
  14. I'm not sure what your point is? Of course normal employees have different contracts to footballers, but the premise is still the same. Move company for more money. If you want to get anal - An IT contractor takes a two year contract. half way through, you get offered a different contract for a longer period of time on three times as much money..... But shurlock, I am sure you have to much integrity and would say no.
  15. I think it was a culmination of things, that provided excuses, but ultimately, it isn't too much more complicated than, bigger clubs and more importantly bigger wages + in some cases some very attractive signing on fees. For all those that dismiss this and searching for something more sinister, there would be less than 1% of posters on here that wouldn't move jobs if they were suddenly offered twice or three times their wages and the opportunity of working for a more glamorous company. In some ways, losing Cortese, then Poch, coupled with the "Big" clubs" interest, it was almost inevitable and whilst we can bang our chests and claim "They were under contract", the reality is, that it doesn't really work like that. Whilst the board could have undoubtedly managed things a little better, they do get credit for the fees the commanded.
  16. Agreed. lovern was outstanding last season (Probably the best centre half performance over a full season that I have seen in 35 years watching Saints) so he isn't going to turn rubbish overnight and the reason we want to believe he will, is because of the way he left. However he was enjoyably poor last night and took a serious hammering on twitter from Liverpool fans (He was trending at one point :) ) so few more performances like that and the crowd turn on him, his confidence spirals and it doesn't look like the dream move he thought it was....... But he is too good to let that happen unfortunately.
  17. Are you serious??

  19. Was going to include this in my post but didn't think they deserved the recognition. I have been to anfield over ten times, That includes two victories for us and two draws. Each time I come away wondering why the Liverpool fans even bother. They are the worst fans I've ever seen (Can't say heard, because they don't ever sing). I can honestly say if St Mary's ever became like that, I would probably stop going. They give it the big one before kick off with the "walk on" and then nothing absolutely nothing. We'll need a proper Liverpool fan to explain why (I genuinely have no idea) but the place is a morgue.

  21. Headlines; 1) Saints won't be relegated 2) Liverpool won't be challenging for jack sh!t 3) Clattenberg still doesn't like us 4) Yoshida is the weak link Bit of a tough one to take. Happy to accept that we probably didn't do enough to win the game, but then neither did Liverpool. Their second goal was a once a season freak bit of awful defending, that you suspect with Yoshida there, will become once a game. Not sure what to make of "Koemans" style. Its certainly not the high intensity pressing game of poch, but a more disciplined, pass and move, one touch affair and perhaps everything you think of "Dutch" football. Plenty of positives from the game and hopefully some lessons learnt. Pelle, just found out what it's like to play in the Premier league and will need to up his game accordingly. Tadic was as good as I thought he was the first time I saw him play and James Ward Prowse is about to make a name for himself this season. Clyne must be scratching, his head, his balls and any other part of his body, when he looks at Johnston and see's that he is Englands right back. Wanyama was superb and Morgan put in a very decent shift, with only one questionable tackle (That I think he would have been made last season) but on the whole we looked pretty good. If there was one criticism, it would be the same as last season.... We didn't get enough shots off. But having just read that sterling got man of the match - Ignore everything I have just posted - I obviously don't know anything about football. sterling, man of the match seriously????????????????????????
