3 CBs could work as long as he was picking 3 attacking players at the other end with the freedom to go at Leicester with the wingbacks, leaving the three CBs and Lavia to sit deep defending the break with JWP lingering for the long range shot. Trouble is he picks 3 at the back, one striker and one attacking midfielder.

If we're signing another fullback it seems crazy to sign a right back rather than a left back.
-
Out of all the linked strikers and having wanted the club to splash the cash for some time, it's funny now that the one link I most want to come to fruition is Andrea Bellotti on a free. Hopefully his transfer to Roma dies a death and we can tempt him to the Prem even if just on a 2 year contract for one season in the shop window with a cheap £20million release clause. Failing that, and knowing nothing about the rest except what I've seen in clips posted, there's something about Højlund I really like.
-
100% yes to that.
-
A lot of money for a player that got 7 goals in 29 appearances last season...
-
Not a single person is saying that. This is however the first season that all the overpaid deadwood is gone and he has been allowed to invest and properly make it his squad. He has zero excuses here on out.
-
He looked much better after the change in formation and actually going on the outside for a change rather than cutting in non-stop. Would still much prefer to see Perraud starting every game at left back.
-
Be a real shame. We seem to be completely disregarding the value of experienced pros. He almost never gave the ball away. Was there much evidence of actual links to the players we HAVE signed before signing them?
-
I really like Holding at Arsenal, I think he's achievable in getting here and despite a lot of people on this forum rubbishing the idea when I put it forward before, he was still the main centreback in their defence two seasons ago when they had the third best defensive record in the league.
-
Ok, but I'd still like to know how their revenue is so much higher?
-
That still doesn't explain why. "We don't spend money because we don't spend money" is a fantastic example of circular reasoning. Your implication is that we have the ability to spend the money Wolves do, we just choose not to - if so, where does the money go?
-
That doesn't explain how wolves are able to spend more than us, at all. Are their accounts publically available same as ours? Would be interesting to compare our income/outgoings to theirs.
-
I don't understand how a club like wolves has so much more money to spend than us. Are we just really that shit at marketing that we get underpaid for sponsorship deals to the amount of tens of millions? Are they gambling by spending money by taking loans based on being in the prem in 2, 3, 4 years time?
-
Still better than anything we have at CB now, not including ABKs potential.
-
Lack of quality in goal and at centreback, it's that simple. Give us Boruc, Fonte at 30 and even someone like Yoshida and we would have conceded far less.
-
Take a look at the slow motion video saints have uploaded on Facebook, you can see him watching the keeper until the last second when he deliberately tucks it under the keepers leg.
-
Seeing the Aribo goal in slow mo makes you appreciate just how good the control is to slip it under the keepers leg and then finish. He needs to start every game.
-
Would like to see him and Adams start together up top next game.
-
Think you're forgetting how utterly dogshit he was at Arsenal. Missus is a gooner so I saw a lot of him there...avoid.
-
I wish someone would have asked if alongside our strategy of developing individual younger players to sell on and reinvest, there was also a plan to develop the TEAM and move up the league or if the plan was just to non-stop buy younger players and sell them before we get any benefit of them at their peak.
-
I understand this, however our home form has been fucking dreadful for at least 6 seasons now. We haven't really put in regular entertaining performances at home since Koeman was here.
-
Not bad when playing regularly. The ONLY times he's looked really good is when he's come back into the side after a long absence. When he gets an extended run his form nosedives pretty rapidly.
-
3 CBs - pre season experiment or long term change?
Saint_clark replied to Dusic's topic in The Saints
I maintain 3-4-3 would get the best out of our players, unfortunately that isn't what we are playing. We're playing some bizarre 3-5-1-1 formation. -
Nothing about this makes sense.
-
He needs a good win against Leeds next week, this is properly his squad now he has zero excuses.
