  1. Oi! I did the weather forecast for them a page ago!
  2. Hpe they don't get any frozen pipes in the loos after all that investment. Lol if they can't play due to elf n safe tea 'cos they can't pay the plumber
  3. Beyond retail therapy Matt? c'mon been beyond the pail for years
  4. Good post I think in the current situation it is good to re-visit some points Under Lowe we had fans who owned a share in their club. (How many skates would know what a share certificate was even IF they are now worthless?) The club tried to seek out funding to survive - 30 million (how much do poopey owe?) Our Admin was brought on because we had the misfortune to be stupid with money for one season right as the worst of the Global Crisis hit. At the time, Aviva would have been quite happy to leave the Mortgage in place on the stadium allowing new owners leeway. The Liebherrs bought the club (allegedly) for 14mil and got 15 mil back a year later for AOC. YET IT STILL TOOK 3 YEARS TO FIND A BUYER Poopey have around 22 hours
  5. Etuhu showed he wasn't the brightest Prawn in the Cocktail when he had his little run in with The Law. He pretty much proved it by signing for poopey and then not getting paid. lol
  6. You will all be shocked and amazed to hear I collect. Golf Stuff mainly. From players. Have about 8 Tiger Autographs on pics hats & stuff, loads of signed pics (all that I take myself then get signed a year later), gloves, golf balls etc. One of the regular volunteers does the same and raised thousands a year for charity, I give to friends who ask or family - the rest are for when I'm a really old fart to look back on. All started by Wayne Bridge. I took a pic of the scoreboard in Sapporro when he came on for Owen vs the Argies, a mate got it signed for me & that kicked it off. I have a got few Cricket & Rugby things done as well Flintoff & Martin Johnson at the RWC final in Aus, all worthless to anyone except me. But they have to be pics I took or were taken with me in them, so that makes it more complex eg I took the pic I have as Avatar in Dubai WC in December and got it signed at the pro Am in Abu Dhabi. Easy to do but needs patience and planning. Favourite> Two pics done in the same place within seconds one with Federer & one with Tiger as they signed a hat. All nicely mounted in a single frame and up on the wall - apparently the hat is worth quite a lot but ain't coming out the frame ever. As a mate once said - he who dies with the most toys wins.
  7. Bruges Amsterdam Munich Barcelona Seville Granada Vienna Prague Krakow Berlin Copenhagen of those, Vienna & Krakow would be top of the list
  8. Well, you know how it is, what with a future Mrs D_P And what with me promised to Tiger & all that. Cracking signing tho & can't wait to see Sharp in action on 18th
  9. Arrgh HELP some strange foreign bloke's fallen in love with me.
  10. All being well, we are 4 months away from the Premier League. A lot of us are going to have to get used to the fact that some of our players won't make that step up. Think we have seen that today with Sharp coming in should push even a fit again Barnard well down the pecking order. Jos Jose & Upson what a great spine for the run in - sure Jose is fantastic but an in form and fit Upson is PL standard and Jose is then cover at that level. Upson has by all accounts been rubbish at Stoke, he needs to rebuild his career, maybe it will work out. Loan with Option will be a great way to go
  11. So it's bitter cold here tonight, down to 12. Notice it's -5 in Scotland and over in Poland they've managed to get to -29 Still good to know that poopey will beat the lot of them by the weekend with about -30 forecast Oh yeah - forecast - about the only loan player they'll be able to get in
  12. Well, this has been an impressive transfer window so far. Not bad considering some told us aggressively that we weren't doing anything after about two days. Well happy with this So far
  13. Ah ha finally an unimpeachable source
  14. Medical Inpatient Is this some new form of clue? Has something bad happened with the Medical?
  15. Did the one dayers in Lahore (It was for work- honest!) having done the Lahore Test some 6 or so years earlier, all arranged by our Business Partner there who had played for Lahore CC and knew how to pull the strings, amd simply took a box for his clients and got me in to host the stuff and give Powerpoints in the evenings You would have loved it, utter madness but in a once in a lifetime way, (mind you on the last evening we couldn't get to the hotel by car - road ws blocked so we had to walk in - place was full of Tear Gas & had to pass by one guy who was clearly never going to get up off the floor and a bunch of others receiving treatment for what looked like shotgun wounds) -somewhat totally dampened the mood, and was all to do with some Political rally that had got out of hand It really is a damned shame the place has now become unsafe for us let alone Cricketers
  16. Now a bit worried to say the least. I booked to land on Saturday morning 18th to go to the Derby game... Now there is a chance of a home Cup Game against a PL team... Christ I hope some muppet doesn't choose to change it to Friday night for TV IF we beat Millwall
  17. Where's St Peach when we need him.... Oh yeah we remember. Great news if true. But I'm sure some experts on here told me we weren't signing anyone this window
  18. IMHO I think they would be perfectly happy to sell up. However they would only accept some ridiculous offer that they could not refuse - say the 250 million we could be worth when we reach the CL level (according to our Business Plan) As I think anyone would. And. as it is ridiculous and in the middle of a massive depression, it won't happen, and don't for a moment believe the Don is stupid enough to "tout it round" What is more likely is that someone may have asked how much would the club cost to buy and he said some stupid OTT number.
  19. Interestingly, when you Google that court case. Google comes up with a link to this thread in the first page of the search
  20. I felt quite bad this morning when I found that link - had to apologise for drinking almost half the bottle over the weekend! Luckily the guy doesn't actually drink Whisky so he's invited me back asap to finish it off - yum yum yum (shame it's 160km away..) I did once visit the Oban Distillery that was a heavier peaty type Malt most pleasant and more mainstream and affordable! The bottle I keep at home for special occassions is Clynelish (not sure on spelling) it's lighter and fresher than the peaty stuff, and I occassionally find Tamnavullin in those UK Outlet stores which is a nice light one as well
  21. This is what I have a problem with. There is a clearly defined window for clubs to buy & sell players and rules on loans. Allowing a club in distress to sell outside the window is unfair on other clubs struggling financially but still operating. It is ALSO possible that a buying club then gains an unfair advantage in acquiring a player outside the window and strengthening their squad. So surely the ruling would have to be that any player sold this way is ineligible to play again THIS season? Which with the wages that would need paying until next August rendering any transfer fee negligible??? What does "Precedent" say? Have clubs been allowed to trade outside the window in the FL before? They have (less than) the magical 48 hours now. They will not get enough cash in outside the window even IF they are allowed to break more rules They go down the insh'allah route yet again and hope that something comes up, fans pay off the HMRC bill on 21st Feb Once again for those emailers to the FL, you should NOT forget that 10.8 mil - that money is still an unfair advantage if it is never paid back or placed into a CVA. My bet is that it was borrowed cash anyway - CSI probably pulled it out of Snoras, so they will still have to return something in a CSI CVA....
  22. Was staying with mates in Abu Dhabi for the weekend while doing my Golf thing. In the evening he went off on this story about how he had been brought this special bottle of Malt yadda yadda yadda, taste of the sea, shipped by boat yawn yawn.. Anyways, we opened it and it was TBH amazing. Normally you get a heavy kick and a back of the throat feeling with Whisky, but this one was just right on the tip of the tongue and then as smooth as silk. Got home yesterday and looked it up and found out it was voted the best in the world. (No idea if it deserves it but it WAS cracking) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-15423862 Old Pulteney from Wick
  23. Gullivers Travels is the name that pops up a lot in terms of organising full on packages. Also check the Barmy Army official site (was told that last week at the Dubai Test - you should DEFFO sign up before you travel how/whereever you go) Depends if you intend to do a full tour or just a Test. I did an independent to Brisbane way back and it was 1) a lot cheaper and 2) I stayed in a damned site better hotel, Down side I missed a lot of the events and tbh it was pretty darned lonely in the evenings not knowing having tickets to go to the dinners or stuff. A lot of the lads who do more than one test down there stay in "Youth or Back-Packer Hostels - they all seemed wrecked all the time but were having an lot of fun and they said it was cheap as chips. I was lucky being ex pat I could register with ticket tek (or something) to get the match tickets but it is not so easy with a UK address. Personally I loved Perth, I only did one day but there is Sooo much else to see in WA - North to Ningaloo Reef & Exmouth or South to Margaret River & wines to die for. People I've spoken to said WI is the most fun but the Island hopping makes it expensive. Aus is the one everyone wants to be at, but also they said that CapeTown is almost a Barmy Army home match, and everyone will tell you that you HAVE to combine it with the whole Vinyards tour thingy road to Jo'Burg SL Galle would be good, Colombo is a crazy city with some really good beach hotels south of the City on a railway line Personally - I'd pick a venue where they don't have Spinning Tracks, because down here we REALLY looked forward to this tour and it has been sh1t and it is one hell of a long way to go to feel miserable after 3 days!
  24. Jesus H. I go off for a few days to stalk my mate Tiger & come back to find that the big moment is "agreed" Who the hell was in charge while I was away? Oh, are they dead yet?
