Saints V Millwall FA Cup Replay Match Thread!
dubai_phil replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Grrrrr So there I am sitting at Dinner having beers with Sir Ian Botham (no I don't believe it either) when I say - look have to go, got to get back to listen to the Saints game on the Internet.... Oh you're a Saints fan, bet you're loving the problems at Pompey he says - I'd love to stay and tell you about our forum - oh the one with the 1000 pages of history... Anyway I get home and NO FECKING COMMENTARY? WTF? I walked out on my 2nd greatest ever sporting hero for this............ -
Having seen Gaga, Kylie & Britney (only Gaga at Glasto by choice) in concert with the "Extravaganza shows", thought that was awesome in comparison. 7 minutes to set up & 7 to take down? Whether you like her music or not, the entire team who put that together must have 1) Been smoking some weird sh1t to have come up with the concept I mean, Romans? 2) Pushed the boundaries of a "live" show again. Somehow don't think we'll see all of that on her world tour, but with her having been away for some time, it was a helluva a way to say Take that Gaga, I'm back. We were impressed. But would have been mega lolz if she had actually tumbled & not stumbled on those steps!

Great film and relevant to us "Sports Fans" Meanwhile I watched this by accident Have to say given she had 7 mins to set the stage up from scratch and take it down again was a helluva comeback Stunning even with her tripping over & MIA flicking the bird! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=PyfdoZldrS4

Unlikely Was originally listed as being shown here on al Jazeera, but they now showing the Sheff Wed replay instead so no. But FWIW as it is FA Cup & not League that means that Radio Solent can be listened to on the internet rather than Saints Player in UK. For those abroad with the radio tuner App & WiFi/3G you should be able to listen to the game on iPad or other Smartphone type stuff. For those abroad with neither Saints Player nor Smartphones - tough. .......Bart........... Butterfield..Fonte..Jaidi...Harding Chaplow..JWP..Hammond...Reeves ....Lambert...Lee... Fonte coming back from an injury layoff, I like to take the opportunity to see how RL & Lee gel. Subs KD, Stephens, Martin/Jos(if fit), Barnard, Guly, SDR, Morgan

I've mentioned before it is entirely likely that chinny has miscalculated and will end up having to accept 20p in the pound or nothing. IF I was going to buy them then I'd wait until 10 mins before they go to court. the BEST chinny can come out of this with would be to retain the Stadium asset and charge a rent (I'd have that nailed in blood as well), so that over 10 or 15 years he gets more of his cash back. Some fool will then come in and buy the remains for a pound and lose 5 or 6mil just getting to the end of the season. They'll still have players on stupid money (they may dream they could shift them but they won't). Chinny won't sell them the stadium and won't do anything to keep it in a decent condition and the old club will wobble along. Their only REAL hope in this scenario is to get relegated and rebuild a side with players and youngsters and have a 3 year plan to get back to the nPc as a stable club and THEN look to do something more. Trouble is they'd need owners with brains to do that and haven't found one yet

Unfortunately it WILL change soon, our factory is almost ready so will be a 30km each way nightmare down our version of the M25 each way

India tells Britain: We don't want your aid

yep, providing the Buses with GPS systems in Bangalore before any buses in the UK got them was pretty important -

I lol'd. Loved the provided TV's for schools one. Shame nobody thought to check if they had Electricity first Slap in the face for a lot of Politicos. How long before they start giving aid to the UK? EU's been begging the Chinese for aid, so can't be long -

Had major knee surgery in late August, they stitched my Meniscus after removing around 20% of it and then filed the bones smooth to help stop Osteo whatever Arthritis and then filled it up with Gelatine. Told me it would take 6 months to be back to normal. Did Cycling every day (once the knee started to let me downstairs) those exercise band things, leg weights and then general rowing machine & weights for arms & shoulders. I was back playing golf by 1st week of October, although confined by Doc's orders to driving round in a buggy until December! Found the main problem was boredom. Until the pain kicks in. Lost around 8Kg in that time, and was signed off as fully recovered in 3.5 months and was straight out doing my Golf Course working stuff - about 15 km a day for 11 days out of 14 in early December. Not bad for an old fart, have one more week for the Golf stuff starting Tuesday night then back to the Gym. Still have 10Kg to lose and some beer gut muscles to tone back up before Daughters wedding in June and I have to get one more walk out onto a cricket pitch this summer even if it is just to embarrass myself. Oh, I also found that 45 minute to 1hr sh@gging sessions help greatly and you don't have to have Ipod earphones in while you do it. But, seriously found it was the setting of the targets that helped me get through, end of August I was in agony on Meds and unable to even get down stairs for 10 days, but set the target of running round at the Dubai World Championships and that drove me on every day.

Hmm to go or not to go... Prices & tickets released today fo the ODI's & T20. I'll miss the ODI's - back to watch Saints. (oops sorry meant Sisters 50th B'Day) Oops meant work meetings. Anyway just had to inform future Mrs D_P that she may not be joining the Barmy Army after all.... 50 quid a ticket in the area with a bar. Which is the same price as a ticket to David Guetta or The Eagles..... Hmm

Taste. I'm a persona non grata with some mates because despite being from Salisbury I actually don't like ANY Hopback beers. Personally, when I'm on the plane back to Heathrow ALL I can think about is that first pint of 6X. We end up having to go to the most expensive Pub in town (Old Ale House) simply because they keep it well. After that, Courage Best (or Directors), Doombar and when in London London Pride or ESB. OSH comes in just behind those, although down here it is one of the best bottled ones we can get. Think it's the richer slightly creamier flavours that I like. I also think that being unable to have Ale that often here I become far more anal about ONLY having it on short trips back home. Normally happy to guzzle Lager all night in a pub here with an occassional Guinness thrown in. On my last trip to "The Hole in the Wall" - aka Barracuda Beach Resort (long story another time) I was amazed to find that they had approaching THIRTY different English Ales in Bottles or Cans. That is one hell of a change from even 5 years ago. Hell I even got some Old Thumper up there last trip. I hope & pray this new Marstons Pedigree attempt to get "realish" Ale into local pubs succeeds. It tasted like NECTAR (also went down DAMNED fast ouch) We have two licenced booze importers here, one is run by Brits so think they are having a real go at it. I also found (to my SHOCK) the Corporate Heineken Tent at the Rugby 7's had London Pride on tap so there IS hope, not so sure THAT works in a two day session though Favourite Lager? I get through Tsing Tao by the bucketful. It is by far the cheapest Lager we can get (16 quid for 24 x 33cl cans) - compared to Bottled Ale at around 35 quid for 500cl cans or OSH bottles at 35 quid for 12 bottles) Tsing Tao is simple light & refreshing, no odd aftertaste like Fosters or Heineken. (NOTE to anyone ever flying here - buy a case at Arrivals Duty Free 66p a can versus 7quid in a pub/mini-bar or room service! I also keep some Magners when available perfect in the summer after Golf in 50C heat but again it's damned expensive.

I tell you what. Let's all swap our position now and our current form and sqaud for one of the teams chasing us and ask. Who would we rather be? I agree with SG about our ability to dispose of "allegedly rubbish teams" it's been a failing of ours for as long as I can remember - cracking performances against top sides (the old Liverpool Games at the Dell anyone?) often undone by a "not up for the game" the following week. Think it is in this area that we need to improve our options on the pitch and our psychology. NA changed things after about 20 minutes last night and we looked much better, IMHO we need to be able to KEEP doing that and have an alternative when teams DO press us.

Jeez 5 posts and nobody mentioned Paul Allen & his Yacht

Well, according to the news you lot are doomed, you're all going to freeze to death, nobody can get out the door and every road is blocked.... So what is the weather situation in reality where you are? Any pics? Any MLT snowmen yet?
-
No, no and THRICE no! You know that is not true. They just need a few quid to get through this sticky patch. They have a zillionaire coming in to buy the club in the next 48 hours and they have that 20mil from Tesco's C'mon Guv. just a tenner to get me through the day

Pretty sure thet FL rules cover NOT paying off the CVA

Watched a decent stream from First Row Sports. Only time it kicked me off was at HT so well happy with that. Mind you could hardly see anything! Thought we started slowly, Cameras then picked up NA making a triangle with his hands, Punch appeared in the centre of midfield and from then on we seemed to have acres of space and time. Very hard to play short passes with confidence on that surface but the lads did it very well. Great save at the feet of the forward by KD and a good stretch before that. Again thought Martin looked very good alongside Fonte. Seemed Fox tried a couple of times to get beyong AL but never got the ball, don't think he had as bad a game as everyone makes out, neither FB really got into many good attacking positions (keeping a more solid defence I guess). Can understand the two bookings, at first glance and probably from 15 yards away they would not have looked good, but the replays showed otherwise. The first originally looked as if Fox had gone straight through the Brum player and I thought he might be gone then. Replay showed a brilliant timed tackle. Still poor decisions by the ref though. While DC was on the pitch we had much better control and movement when we did get into their final third, trouble with DC is that he is becoming a fine cog in build ups but any sniff near the box and he seems to turn to jelly. Can see why NA did not start with Sharp, he still has to learn the drills, hopefully another week in training he will be closer to a start. Punch for me was MOTM, until he ran out of steam. Fair shout, I argued against his return but he looks like he has brought a missing element to our game again. I was wrong. When he went off for Guly we lost some of the control and possession, Guly just vanished into the snow until that break in the last minutes (which should have seen a red for Caldwell) Awful commentator, only told us Fox had a red after we had seen him running to the tunnel, and we had no idea Deano had come on or who for, how we had lined up at the back after the red etc. Anyway a good point, something to build on, away to team with an awesome run going and TBH we did not look in any real trouble, even IF we didn't threaten. Will the weather clear up by Tuesday??! Keep warm everyone, and respect to the 1555 who made that trip.

Drove through Horndean in the summer. The Gales Brewery is long gone and an eyesore in the centre of the village with fading For Sale signs on it. Sure won't be made there again. Gone the same way as Gibbs Mew (thank fook for that)
-
meh. When they announce they have 48 hours to save the club, that's when we can start to take it seriously. Chinny has the stadium it may be worth 2 or 3 mil and a lot of hassle. Still think it will be a game of chicken, he'll sell up for that at one minute before they walk into Court, to some idiots who want to burn 8mil a year to keep that relic standing. And who will run out of cash after 8 months in L1 with their -15 or more this season
-
Actually he is probably right. In his role as Administrator of CSI. He puts poopey into Liquidation then he will have utterly falied to return ANY monies to Chinny... The WRC rights ended up being a Debt not an asset, poopey gone for nothing players contracts torn up. It's a career ender FAIL for Andy. And Chinny's (or for that matter Roman's) mates may not be too happy with him either.

Blimey Chaplow's put on a bit of weight since he's been out
