Reading the threads the past week or so, and the differing reviews of the matches, an outsider would wonder just why we bother. I paraphrase but KD is no good, doesn't command the box, rooted to his line, distribution is poor, long hoofs upfield Butterfield hasn't got it, is a meh player Seabourne, everyone wants Martin back in, can't pass, just hoofs(MKD threads) Fonte, allowing players to get in behind him which never happened last season (Merrington) Harding, not firing, not getting to the by-line, crosses awful, Dickson should come in Oxy - great player superb potential why does he get subbed (Manager is worried about burning out a 17 year old kid who's body is not yet fully developed) Hammond - a waste of space on the team sheet Morgan - Overrated, luxury player DM who doesn't tackle, AM who doesn't create Puncheon - Everyone hates him so I will boo him every time he touches the ball, too complex, no decision making can't shoot Lambert - drop him, unfit, lazy, disinterested Barnard - oh finally no complaints yesterday So at the end of NA's first week a neutral reading the forum would believe that the only players we want to see in the team at the moment are Barnard, Dickson, Holmes and a fit again Lallana, oh, and Bart for a change So, my question for the more regular followers of football, the loan window is open, who will you sign, who will they replace and what are their attributes? The consensus is we need 3 players Names peeps, give us some proposals For me CM Nicky Butt OR a Robbie Savage Clone Winger - no idea but an Antonio CLONE if not himself, NOT another midget winger CF - Big lump to hold the ball up so that Connolly & Barnard can play off him if RL out. RL plays a lot wider during a game so would still work. An Emile Heskey Clone NOT a quick midget

Merrington seemed to put a finger on Morgan's problem yesterday. He believes that Morgan tries to play the "Match Winning" wonderball too often during the game rather than holding it up and looking to retain possession. IMHO The Wonderball is a percentage play and an important part of the creativity levels of the team, but if it is overused the fans and the team mates see a hoofball time and again. It will be interesting to see whether this decision making (like Puncheon's) gets worked on this week. There really is nothing better to watch than the 50 yard ball to feet that sets up a goal (ala Hoddle the player) but in L1 it just may not be what the team needs everytime, and Morgan isn't by any stretch Hoddle (yet)(maybe)(oneday)(possibly)(yeah well alright)

Interesting article today in the Torygraph, which got me thinking. Once upon a time, the players came out before a game and kicked a few balls around before popping back and having a smoke or a cup of tea (so it seemed). Yet against Rochdale the players seemed to be in different groups carrying out pretty hefty "warm-up" exercises, which made me wonder how they managed to avoid being knackered in the game. Low and behold we ran out of steam in the game. The article reveals how science has helped the egg chasers (no not a SCW rant) but the bit about measuing the warm-up for the test in Aus when they THOUGHT it was a light warm-up, they changed it and won. I know most of you lot at the game would be in the pub until a minute to kick-off but did anyone notice anything less in the warm-up yesterday? It certainly sounded as if we lasted longer mentally (and physically) in the game. Obviously disappointed as everyone will be, clearly Rickie is not there yet, BUT he seemed to be getting closer and closer. A point may not seem that important but a defeat would have been a near on Titanic level disaster. Sure we SHOULD be winning, but sounds like a step on the road. Main issue from DM seems to be MS wanting to play "The pass of the Century" rather than keeping it simple and moving the ball around. Work to do but we did finish a second half stronger for the first time this season by the sound of it Limping slowly onwards and maybe soon upwards
