  1. Vaild opinion But he'd be in the "ain't gonna waste the petrol category". Saw him down here on a previous free blag. He was garbage, we went to the bar along with half the crowd. In comparison saw Jay-Zee at Glastonbury and he was superb, so it isn't just an age/taste thing. Still, the wannabee gangsta's down here will all be there in their backwards baseball caps and bling revving their Ferraris and Corvettes I won't Maybe I'll get a freebie for EoA - I'm sure he'd enjoy it - would serve him right for my flight delay 5 weeks ago
  2. How can it? The Board (ie employees) decided to sell for a price that the OWNERS will not accept. As a result, the OWNERS fired the Board. At the moment it is a bit like me selling your house. Isn't possible without your permission. So this is going to run for a while yet. I would expect that at the end of the day it will be the Banks that push the idiot Yanks over the edge and force the sale through. Looking at the backers of NESRV or whatever though, they aren't worth squillions so cannot see any immediate major injections of cash. Personally I hope that the banks foreclose on the Yanks, take over their charge on the club and then sell it forcing the Yanks to take a major personal financial hit. Leveraged buy-outs that dump the debt on the club should NEVER have been allowed in Football. At the height of the boom it was so easy that any idiot could have done it, as I have posted on a number of occassions, I could have got a bank to give me 30 mil for Saints and then put the debt straight onto the club. Where was the benefit or point in that? How much interest do Man Ure have to pay each year for the privilege of having the Glazers in charge?
  3. Oh no they're not - hence the link to the article. Hicks & Gillett fired the entire Board for talking to NESV at a price of around 300mil The Board are looking at ways to take legal action At least our days of Execs fighting the shareholders were only fought out in the media, not the Courts!
  4. Lol - Execs fighting shareholders. Where have we seen that before? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8044953/Liverpool-board-meet-to-discuss-new-bids-for-the-Anfield-club.html
  5. Also, thanks to recent fashion trends, might even have something Purple to wear.
  6. Tough call, they just announced line-ups for F1 week in Abu Dhabi. I can get a ticket to one of these shows free. Which would you pick? Sean Paul Abu Dhabi Corniche November 10 Kanye West Yas Arena, Yas Island November 12 Sophie Ellis Bexter Abu Dhabi Corniche November 12 Kelis Abu Dhabi Corniche November 13 Linkin Park Yas Arena, Yas Island November 13 Prince Yas Arena, Yas Island November 14 Took me about 20 seconds to decide, but then I'm an old fart
  7. And of course Dean Richards http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Ddean%2Brichards%2Bsouthampton&w=300&h=180&imgurl=news.bbc.co.uk%2Folmedia%2F1225000%2Fimages%2F_1228176_richards301.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.bbc.co.uk%2Fsport%2Fhi%2Fenglish%2Ffootball%2Fteams%2Fs%2Fsouthampton%2Fnewsid_1228000%2F1228176.stm&size=10KB&name=Dean+Richards&p=dean+richards+southampton&oid=6b9f0c673ab74c59bf2556a3626cc8cb&fr2=&no=7&tt=34&sigr=12ujqkgke&sigi=11u0vqovu&sigb=128qmfd6j
  8. John Beresford & Carlton Palmer... Were on Rob McAfree's Goals on Monday show last night, both contenders. Also, how could we miss out big John McGrath Joe Kirkup David (Docker) Walker http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3F_adv_prop%3Dimage%26va%3Ddavid%2Bwalker%2Bsouthampton%26fr%3Dmcsaoff&w=490&h=500&imgurl=www.saintsfcpics.com%2Fimage%2Fsoccer-football-league-division-one-southampton-photocall_1067083.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.saintsfcpics.com%2Flow.php%3Fxp%3Dmedia%26xm%3D1067083&size=89KB&name=...+David+Walker...&p=david+walker+southampton&oid=bba0f262824943ca3561a6762c362c2f&fr2=&no=3&tt=204&sigr=11ngs8q85&sigi=13007n7k9&sigb=1334thkr0 Actually, with those hairstyles, most of that team would qualify
  9. Solely in the context of New manager Syndrome.... Would you rather be a Saints fan or a Liverpool fan today? Had to lol last night when my youngest (brainwashed into being a Liverpool fan by the ex & her family) came up with this gem... Wish we'd had the foresight to bring Adkins in.... (And yes I know Hodgson had many many more problems and yes I know it would be too big a jump from Scunny but it was funny after the past weeks)
  10. An opinion which also calls into question a different issue on the forum of late. Has NC pulled off a gem? Still too early to say, but as Nick mentions, the clear but simple change in the shape of the team, the width and the lack of hoofball, all areas that we as fans "had issues with" seem to have been resoleved. The CB's pulling wide to receive the ball isn't rocket science, just shows that NA possibly watched Spain in the WC and LEARNT. For me it is that last word that will define whether he will be a real success, as I am not sure that AP ever "took onboard the lessons in a game" and simply stuck with the same formula. I await the time when NA needs a plan B during a game, but so far I have seen much needed change and it looked damned good on Saturday. Still early days but I am still happy to be in the whelmed category at his appointment
  11. Oh that is sad news One of a kind Mr Grimsdale
  12. Lol, don't be silly, I live down here, ain't none of them gonna mess with the part of the world that handles all their financial transactions! I know it is nasty but IF anything bad was to happen in the EU I would just love it to be a bunch of the PC nerds who let all the idiots have sanctuary. Remember - nasty Terrorist types who were deemed too extreme or dangerous down here are all happily living in the EU having claimed asylum and being paid Dole money by your taxes. So, in a round-a-bout Ironic sort of way, you are using your own taxes to cause your own terror threats which means you have to raise your taxes to spend on more security
  13. The other classic as Furyk was on the tee having won $10mil last week - Jim - lend us a tenner.... I took the Jet Lagged to hell excuse and flopped on the sofa from about 9:30 your time. What a stunning day of high pressure high excitement Sport that was Miguel - hell that man is a GOD - there is hope for all us Wine drinking old farts after all. GMac - he looked the part all day and wow Hunter - how many of us have duffed a chip like that, we have "The Golf Channel" crew of Renton Laidlaw, Doogie Donnelly, Mark Warren and Julian Tutt (nice bloke) & Jay Haas on the course and to give them their due they were probably as horrified as Pavin when he fluffed that chip. The scenes at the end with the players getting mobbed - nah that would never happen with me in charge of the Marshalls! (Watch out for me at the Race to Dubai finale!) The GF missed the whole thing through work but came back to see the presentation ceremony - to say - WTF - I thought you were watching Golf all day not football! Poor old Pavin looked like he would burst into tears at any moment, those must have been the longest speeches those Yanks have ever had to sit through! Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuke But Gmac - way to go Dude
  14. I simply give you the benefit of the doubt mate. Most times your comic timing is spot on I mean, if you are REALLY so fixated on GH then I am horrified that you have slipped through the Care in The Community system... Although I did agree with you the first 3,756,948 times you reminded us.... The problem with negativity is..... (And I hate myself for this, but it was a good call) Alpine Saint has been proved right this year. Perhaps THAT is why things need to change
  15. Interesting.... Having deliberately started a Rupert Lowe did good things thread, I must say I am shocked that it actually HAS produced sensible comments... Maybe we have become self regulating and all grown up after all
  16. Ah that one is simple. The MD did 90% of the work, the CEO made the speeches. I think one thing with hindsight that he DID do was to actually show that a PLC simply cannot work in Football. The mess that Man Ure (Debt Wise) and of course Liverpool are now in are simply bigger versions of what happened to us. Shame really that in an era when idiots lent money to anyone with a bad idea or a house to mortgage we never managed to join the queue for free cheap money. In the end the concept of a PLC getting zillions from the City was sound, it just never worked and we were undone by the old Bank Overdraft withdrawal that so many others have faced.... Although I still have a theory about that And yes, good one Derry, no matter what else we think of him, he did pay our taxes and has forever given us the moral high ground in the Poopey Takeover Saga
  17. Salisbury Saints had a great event for Nick Holmes's testimonial year. I vaguely remember Nick, Moran, Armstrong being there and a bunch of others. My only other recollection was the politeness as we all offered each other to go first to get a taxi back from the Greyhound in Wilton. Footballers drinking eh? Foreign Coaches have been trying to stop them since they first came to England and introduced our players to Pasta... And yet most of the Italian WC squad were down here for a legends weekend - guess what - Bullfrogs, Yorke & Seaview & Cannavaro was out trying to beat Budgie at Karaoke last week. And man if it wasn't a (oops was married at the time) issuefor me you should see the photos of the All Blacks Rugby Team, Jonah Lomu & all at the 7's with my ex a few years ago, or Ian Poulter standing on stage singing a version of Wonderwall 5 years ago, Lee & Darren getting my current missus trashed last year or even Rory last Feb. No, they shouldn't. Yes they do
  18. Hmmmmm
  19. VW - don't take the p1ss out of B'mouth fans. There'll be nothing left. How about their wonderful Chairman amd his business acumen. Sells Pittman to Brizzle for 175k cash +++++ which wasn't enough to cover the money he borrowed to pay off their CVA. Or funnier still, the Investment he turned down because they did not exist and didn't have any money? HAHAHAHA ROFL They are now a major sponsor of Renault Williams in F1 Nice one Ed, but that's OK you're just a fan at heart giving large at away games
  20. Don't worry about the records Ossie. You'll make a new one this year when your landlords lock you all out of your stadium. How's the collection for the rent arrears going, or did you blow it all on a pair of goal posts for your youth team? You know what? We had a "Director" (Mark Fry) for many months who paid more for a set of goal posts from Wembley for his kids than you lot have raised all season for your Youth.
  21. Rooney, Gerrard to name but two who have been caught out while out on the town. Not every footballer is David Beckham Perhaps Miguel Angel Jimenez set a bad example by consuming two bottles of Rioja the night before he beat W******d in a playoff down here in February. Personally, I find anyone who doesn't understand that moment of the evening when their need for a beer scooter as not particularly bright, and maybe Lee fell into that category. However, we have all been in unsavoury bars in our time, and no, it was never wise the next morning, but we also have no idea whether this had actually become a "ususal haunt" for the new guys in teh way Cactus Jacks was for Claus and the lads in the past. Anyone old enough to have seen Mick Channon, Ossie & Bally at Salisbury Races in mid afternoon will understand - this is what young lads do - they party. I'll condemn him WHEN I see facts. Again, I defy anyone who is a bloke to deny that they have never grabbed a handful of lose coins or checked where the nearest bottle is when they have been confronted aggressively by more than one leary person. Doesn't mean we had to USE that defense, simply we checked all the fight or flight options - that is ingrained human nature. Pre-meditated, walking across a bar and whacking someone with a glass or bottle is something the law will deal with, followed by the club. I wait to see if this was the case or if it was a defensive (but misguided) action. But to call for him to be "sacked" when the likes of Lee Hughes/Stan Collymore are still playing (or played) football simply harms the club and I'm sorry - I have no respect for anyone who wishes harm on our club financially or otherwise WITHOUT THE FACTS
  22. Ah the self righteousness of internet warriors. The horror that the players were out drinking..... Yet only a couple of years ago we were happily reading reports of players out at Cactus Jacks or other establishments. Perhaps some are showing distaste from a class perspective? Maybe they didn't like the venue and felt it should have been more up market? - gang - these are League 1 players they may not get paid enough to afford some of the posher parts of town. As for the indignation, hell, so many on here must lead dull boring and unispiring lives if they are so pure and perfect that they have never stood up for a friend or family or female in the wrong place at the right time. FWIW my opinion on this? WGS would never have allowed it. NA is new in town and so it is time for a laying down of the rules again, but it is NOt time for over reaction and throwing away the key. Let the Police first, then the CPS and then if needed the courst make the decision. Professional sportsmen letting their hair down with alcohol after a big win..... Bet there are many millionaires sh*t faced in South Wales tonight, hell many of them were seen drinking on global TV - should they be sacked? WHEN we know the facts THEN we can judge. Until then there are far too many hypocrites on here
  23. + 1
  24. Yeah right. So according to the Echo 20 men are involved. How do you KNOW that 19 did not attack him with bottles and he defended himself. To assume makes an ass of many many people. It doesn't SOUND good but then seeing as there are many people out there spreading other types of nasty rumours about the club who have an agenda. Well done for signing up to them so quickly
  25. We needed TWO threads on this Eric?
