The damage that happens from un-intentional public utterances FF. You set up LM et al in the Op for stick, not by ANY deliberate intention but because the nature of the wording used would allow others to hijack the thread. It is a tough call when you go to these events - we had similar with MLT down here, tried to post the report neutrally and off they went. Eventually I think that argument was won and one particlularly obnoxious poster of the time has moved to pastures new. The reports are important from everyone who gets to these types of things, 80% of us on here await this news and it gives us a feeling of Saints as a club. However, anyone who DOES post up must realise that they are stepping into a "Political Arena" and should choose their words carefully. You of all people as a "person experienced in the horrors of Spin" should have guessed what can happen. You posted about the event, it implied LM MLT MO were making anti-Saints comments and whoosh in it came. Nick was right, you opened the can of worms. You are right, you probably never even thought of it. And yes an interesting piece on the Great White Hope Mr Fulthorpe. Not many of the Vultures from those days left now with reputations intact. Still a few to go though

Double Eek. In that case we have to go for the really silly own goal to break the run, or a KD diving header from a Lee Holmes corner in the last minute to equalise

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/8403365.Saints_aim_to_avoid_unwanted_record/ Eek, now who would have thought that THIS could be on the cards as our 125th Anniversay Celebration? Time for a lucky deflection off someone's bum methinks

Hey, c'mon, all the way to New Orleans for 130 quid in Biz Class down side is the only "freebie" flight out of here was tonight, upside - meant I could get to the cricket. As for streaking FFS you have any idea how COLD it is over there at these mid-winter ODI's? I ain't shrivelling up (anymore than normal) for no Sky TV Luckily there was a really important conference on next week Mon-Thurs so I had an excuse for ticking off another of the 1,001 places to see before you die. Mind you the idea of sitting through Powerpoints on US E-Waste legislation at what will be 4am Dubai time does knock the glamour off a little. Luckily I can leave the stalkers to my youngest (22) who is in town to babysit current GF.... Oh I see what she did there.... Back on topic, met my current GF on Christmas Eve about 4 years ago when went with (now ex) GF to a karaoke bar with mates to sing Xmas songs until 3am. We were going there for about 3 years, I was so dense, never noticed I was being "stalked" until she found out the whole divorce thing and old GF had become an ex, then she invited me out. Duh She moved in about 3 months later, and one can only say one is a really happy bunny these days.

What is a Barm Cake?

Ah Mr G. Michael, how are we this morning? Make sure the 1:40 BA gets away on time tonight, don't want to be late for drinking beer at the Rosebowl tomorrow:-)
-
I've never met any of my other halves. They just stalk me for some reason, wait until I'm off guard and move in. Have had to get the local Police to increase their patrols in the area as they were spilling out from behind bushes and blocking the roads. It's damned annoying, I have to buy new underwear every couple of weeks as they keep stealing mine from the washing line. Tried putting the clothes airer out onto a balconey but she got sun stroke and died of dehydration while I was at the Forum Match. The best way I found to get rid of them was to start charging, 300 quid a time. Hopefully will get enough by November to pay for a first class return to Brisbane to watch the first Ashes test

So now all we need to do is to find out who is pulling the strings and directing Left Back and others in the directions that lead them to make these types of "not quite accurate" comments and we can get on with being a normal Football Club again.

Free tickets for the ODI next week at the Rose Bowl

Of course it was always going to be the decider. D_P is coming in from Dubai for this. You think I didn't have strong words with the guys round here and their buddies just across the water to make it so? -
So very few appearances over a number of years and we want him in the team. Oh, you meant Holmes, not Pulis
-
I would agree but ONLY if he is really fit and ready to start AND finish a game. It is too big a risk after so long out to bring him in after only 25 minutes for a full 90 where (potentially) you could have 3 other players injured or needing to be substituted. Would certainly like to see him in the team and given a run, would certainly NOT drop Barnard for a one up front option though, but I think Saturday will be a game too early still to start him. Would rather take it carefully and have him as an option for the season rather than 60 minutes or so if he breaks down again. When he played in the CCC we did not look THAT bad a team (not a good team, just not a BAD one), it was only after we lost him that we started to really fall apart IMHO

how many times a day do you take a p*ss or a sh*t?
dubai_phil replied to Turkish's topic in The Muppet Show
The really ancient old things that used to run from Salisbury to Southampton didn't have loos in the compartments that made up second class, only in t he first section (but why anyone would want to pay for 1st class for that run I've never worked out. Least we also now know for a FACT that people in Portsmouth are full of sh*t wind & p*ss, and I suppose anyone from Brighton would better be left unsaid -
And, to be fair, just about everyone of us who has listened to or watched a Saints match in the past year has questioned AP's substitutions being done very late in a game. You are winning at a canter against a team that were not playing well on the day, you have a new signing on the bench and he gets 5 minutes? Sorry, but if I was a fan who had AP's number I think I would have bloody well sent him a text. Especially as it was clear at half time that Lallana had broken down with an injury that just about the whole club knew about and we would need cover in the coming weeks. But of course, a boss isn't allowed to ask his employee any questions about his performance is he, and the text is clearly evidence of interference in playing affairs. Well, if NC was interfering in affairs and AP did not like it then for AP's own career he would have been FAR better served turning on his heel and walking straight out the door. The point is valid about interference, BUT the bigger issue is that I am pretty certain IMHO allegedly that there are people out there who will know LM, MLT & the others who have an axe to grind and who wish the current set up harm. These continuing sly nudges and subtle digs do nothing but to continue the bad old days. I for one don't like NC, but the more these digs continue, the more I am losing respect for a lot of people who are being naively played by some very nasty bitter people

Lol - had that pretty naff Will Ferrell movie Semi-Pro on telly the other night. Just reminded me of the one funny moment at the end when the escaped bear makes a re-appearance

Out of interest, how many members here have actually taken the time to contact the Echo on a topic of relevance to the club? Not the forum section so much but to actually make a more formalised comment? I think many of us use TSW as as outlet for our feelings and opinions, sometimes we are off target sometimes the debate and opinions expressed here serve a purpose and you can actually see a slight swing in sentiment. So, (while not happy with the way The Trust & SISA are IMPLIED by the media to speak "on our behalf") who's actually done any speaking? Some have mentioned they have done, but what is there to actually "comment" about on a regular basis as opposed to being a rent a quote name in lights seeker?

Being the undoubted Karaoke king of The Dubai Massive I can safely say from a position of authority Heck he's almost as good as Budgie! Not
-
So when Puncheon plays a quality pass, do the fans applaud him or do they say "meh, Puncheon, obviously a fluke"?
-
Would be a good shout as cover certainly on a short term loan until RL gets firing on all cylinders (which shouldn't be many more matches) would let RL get 75 minutes in and then scare the opposition to death in the closing minutes

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/international/pakistan/8010788/Pakistan-match-fixing-claims-ECB-calls-crisis-meeting-as-third-ODI-investigated.html Hmm what's the process for getting money back for a free ticket? 2 mil it will cost the ECB to cancel the last two matches. Will money talk or Principles walk? -
Ah ha so there is the answer. Hammond, Lambert & Puncheon all missed some of the pre-season kick about & Lallana has gone under the knife. Perhaps when they actually GET fit again we will see performances closer to last season
-
Wasn't having a dig at Harvey, but the article made me wonder if with the Wilkins/AP warm up sessions we may have taken TOO much out of the players? Anyone notice any difference in the warm up yesterday?
-
So an out of contract CM who can sit in front of the defense and break up play and has the skill level to play the simple shorter passes? Or a Paul Scholes style all action arms flailing danger on the edge of the box? Nicky Butt fits the bill experience wise at the moment, but is he actually a natural leader / battler on the pitch? (or is that me being a bit Hairist? I always felt Quashie was too much of a Sideways Jim clone. I disagree totally though with the Vassell idea. Rickie is off form and anyone who watched the Reading game with Barnard & Connolly could see that Barnard was fantastic at holding the ball up when played in to feet, in the air? nope, he just got frustrated. Connolly was basically knocked off the ball time and again (also felt that against Rochdale). To me I see Connelly as cover for Barnard, NOT either as cover for RL. 6 games now with RL off form and unfit and we have seen the cost of NOT having cover for him. A big lump on the bench does mean we have a Plan B on cabbage patches by being able to PROPERLY lump it long for a change, whilst having Connolly for craft & Oxy for raw pace What Lumps are around? Are there any young Roy Carroll's in the PL needing some playing time?
-
Anyone from Mars having seen Lambert play the first 6 games of this season would probably think he was in the Pulis League. Not for one minute advocating him - I was at the reading game - However he seemed fit and so would probably be able to do a job running round and getting in the way, which, from the sounds of it, is about all everyone thinks Hammond & Puncheon are doing at the moment. Does he look like he will make it as a footballer? nope. However NA put him on the bench so must have had some reason to do that (probably last man standing)
