Rumours of Saints player being arrested after trouble?
dubai_phil replied to Tractor_Saint's topic in The Saints
Sounds a little different from a random swing on a flight of stairs. Barnard treated in hospital. Let's put the pitchforks back in the shed shall we until some actual facts emerge -

Actually, yes I'd agree with that one, albeit about four years too late -

Thankyou - you're the second one -
It isn't the Amred forces, it is the myriad of "Cyber Warfare" tools that are being developed at an ever increasing rate of knots that intercept the communications. When the nutters stop using Facebook and Skype and start using Carrier Pigeons, THEN the problems will start. 2 weeks ago I saw a demo of a special App for an I-Phone - it will boot up a PC through the USB hub and access send or copy every file and every conversation that machine has had on Social Media for the past mont or so. I've also seen a device that will hack any mobile, copy the entire contacts list, access every picture AND if you had a GPS in the phone identify where and when the photo was taken - to do that the scanner only needs to be within 500 metres. The thing to be scared about is who killed the GCHQ spy in the bag who was working on that sort of stuff?

For those heading to Florida and looking for something more than just Disney then this place in Key Largo was a true gem that I found. http://keylimesailingclub.com/index2.htm It is a small location with a few huts and sheds that have been converted into really nice air conditioned self catering apartments. At the right time of year they can cost as little as $100 per night. Each unit comes with a 14ft cabin Sailing boat for the duration with Sea Kayaks and snorkelling/fishing gear. The owners are qualified instructors and can get you out on the water in about 2 hours (was $50 an hour for that when I went). Huts have basic kitchenette/cooking facilities and a BBQ, there's a Publix supermarket up the road and a great Diner close to the site for Breakfasts. If not sailing then you can still do the whole "Keys" thing I absolutely loved it a couple of years back and it is on my list of grat places I want to go back to

Well, Thank God it hasn't happened yet, however I do recall trying to take the time out on more than one thread to sort of try to warn you lot. I hope it never becomes an "I told you so" moment. A great many people in the world want us to all live in Mud Huts and darkness, and many of them were given homes in Europe as being "victimised" in their own countries and no doubt travelled for their training and paid for their communications equipment with their Dole money. On the positive side, more and more tools are becoming available to the Security Forces to intercept and interpret the comms channels, which could be one reason they are targetting Mainland Europe. But it also makes your on-line shopping far less secure. Just be wary and be safe people

Agree 100% with that sentiment -

So you are saying the Radio was a good idea? Actually, I'd say it was a good idea. Conceptually at least, but executionally flawed. Broadcast and Image rights in the PL do make a whole bunch of money for the big clubs (ManUreTV for example), but from the Ashes of the original concept has come Saints Player. Was Lowe simply too early and too ambitious? Certainly us non-uber fans living away have formed a much closer attachment and knowledge of the games and players with that service being available to us. -

OK, so who did come up with the idea first? Anyone any ideas? -

Yes, we know that so as this is the listing of good things he did while at Saints, are you introducing the concept that our Administration was a good thing? -
Having read the Start Again thread thought I'd have a go at livening the dusty old forum up. There are (at last count) 1,276,947 threads debating and listing what he did wrong. This is in NO WAY intended as a defense of Lowe, but I thought it worth seeing if we can actually find anything good. (And before you moan, I started trying to think of some last week while in the US ) So. My one is He built the Academy properly and employed Georges Prost to run it which has given us the enjoyment of watching Walcott, Bale et al over the years and helped us to beat B'mouth on Saturday when our latest star graduate Lallana returned to the team. Anything else?

There are many many Saints fans out there who have fallen out of love with TSW. When I meet with them on trips back the usual reason is the w*nkers, the whingers etc. They have a very valid point. The other reason given is that "They used to come on here to read the gossip and the buzz around the club and to express opinions". I used to view the old forum for about a year before I started posting, it served as a source for those opinions and debate, it showed that there is a really big Saints community around the world and as an ex pat it gave me a link to home. Some of the gossip used to actually come true. Then we look at where we are today. Saint Lee, St David and a few others must take some blame - they tried to "help out" in bad times and made a real hash of it with their over confidence and believing they could act as moderators in the 3 Amigo saga. Gradually being ITK became a means of boasting and then of being hit with a torrent of abuse (words, not the poster) Our wish to be a "psuedo" Communist society respecting everybody's right to post what they wanted led to "over tolerance" of people. Yes their opinions may well have been valid the first 500 times they called anyone names for not holding the same opinion BUT it was a cancer and caused many to give up. While some can be viewed as humourous the ever available and often well timed "Dalek Hoddle" interventions, some were simply nasty and spiteful. So, how can it be changed? Opinions must be expressed, debate must be allowed to be heated, but Derry has hit a very good nail on the head. There is a simple rule - Play the post not the man. If someone has a differing opinion then EXPRESS the opinion, don't call someone an idiot and worse. Kill the infighting at source - too many on here have personal issues with others and the threads get hijacked. There is no need for it, it isn't about debate it is about cyber warriors trying to prove their manhood is bigger than 1.5 inches fully grown, it has no place here. IF we get rid of the stupidity, IF we make it somewhere that can use logic, reasoning and alcohol to make a valid point or report on something then we can grow again. But, one thing I can tell you for sure, the demise of the forum has sod all to do with the anxiety, unrest, unease and concerns of the fans regarding the state of the club at the moment. It goes back far further than that. I will post up an example and let's watch what happens

There was a really nasty and fast acting stomach bug doing the rounds at SMS yesterday, it started with the B'mouth team & fans being complete sh*ts and ended with me waking up here after a hasty snack in the BA lounge last night being completely sh*tting as well. I am sure you must have caught it as well. Big well done to the "Only Two Molinari's" - Eduardo winning one hole all on his own and Francesco nailing that approach on 18 (or vice versa). Will have to head out early to get some shopping in and then the sofa is well and truly reserved for the afternoon. Ross Fisher - really nice guy and what a solid player - is he the new Monty for this generation - the European rock steady Eddie? And Miguel - was never going to miss those putts

Ouch. Man did I feel bad today (after I stopped laughing) being overseas have always had trouble getting through on the day tickets go on sale, so my buddy said he'd do it for me. He got into the queuing system, went through the whole process of typing in the details for the GF & me then instead of adding his details he pressed the complete transaction button, forgetting to add his & his wife's details. Got back into the queue again to be told Sold Out 4 hours and we're going & he is down to pot luck again in April Lol in many ways but feel really really bad for him and it also fecks up our whole campervan plan Anyone else get through? -
Wow, what a great afternoon for Europe. Gonna be a whole bunch of people taking sickies tomorrow in South Wales I'm sure.

You know the funniest thing, that wasn't just their one big day out, but unless they find a way to pay the hundreds of k's of overdue rent n their ground, they'll be back begging us to ground share for them. (Wouldn't be surprised if Eddie had to borrow a few quid to pay off the bar bill) Overall, really smart move by Eddie to hiss off NC and then our fans. Hope they enjoy playing in Dorchester when their landlords turn up to padlock the stadium. Oh and you know what - they never even paid us for the loan of a groundsman either, snivelling, whingeing, jumped up wannabe scouser scroungers the lot of them

Most worrying part of the day was trying to keep awake on the drive down from Heathrow - 9 hours sleep in 48 sort of does that to you! As for the game, I really really really enjoyed it. So easy to see the changes Adkins has already instilled, the simplest being the way that the CB's drop back and wide to give KD outlets, the ball is played on the deck from the back, which brings the opposition Midfielders forwards creating space for our MF to move into. So simple, instead of the opposition MF dropping deep and our two forwards battling against 3 or 4 players to win hoof balls. Definitely will be a confidence thing though and sooner or later a mistake will cost us a silly goal BUT it was a helluva lot better to watch. It meant that Barnard was getting the ball played into his feet which is where he is so good. The movement by the defense, the reading of the game by Fonte and the sight of Butterfield and Harding trying (not that often) to get to the bye-line OR more often moving the ball to work it in that directionrather than cross from the halfway line. An early break from Lallana showed what we had been missing and really galvanised the crowd, especially after the worrying start when they hit the post. The build up play for the early one handed palmn away from their keeper was superb. Puncheon looked the real deal as well, it seemed Hammond was sitting a little deeper than Morgan and Rickie although playing further up the pitch seemed to drop off "into the hole" leaving barnard playing off the shoulder fo the CB's. Almost a diamond shape. Rickie was involved far more than in the last game I saw (Rochdale) but, to be honets his first touch was still awful compared to last year and his glancing header would have been buried last year as well as him taking too long on a couple of occasions when he should have just buried it, yet he scored twice and his free kick although lacking real power to beat the keeper was superbly placed. For me Puncheon showed a lot more passion, his run set up the comedy moments in their penalty area in the second half where their keeper seemed to be the only defender for what felt like 5 minutes making desperate lunging tackles all over the place before the 2nd penalty. Lallana showed what we had been missing, great comeback performance, and again, being honest showed why Oxy is really only still an impact player not a replacement for him yet. Morgan & Hammond good battling performance in the middle, and yes Hammond DID take a man on and beat him, and the ball into the corner near the end for Oxy to run onto from Morgan was sheer class. But my M-o-M has to go to Barnard, worked the line superbly, he looks so much better with the ball into his feet, touches and turns to take defenders out of the game, he really looked like a class act making their CB's look cumbersome. Bournemouth - nasty, niggly, lack of creativity, showed the limitations of their squad and their manager. Howe's interview on Solent was a disgrace. The first penalty was for handball, their defender was on the ground thought he had the ball hidden from the ref and used his hand while on the ground to pull it back as it looked to squeeze lose to Lambert. Great but obvious shout by the Linesman. Yet at the same time the rugby tackle/Mick McManus headlock by Fonte on Fletcher was also nailed on and I have no idea how the lino didn't give that one. Poor decision by the ref not allowing advantage when Puncheon was through, but tbf from his angle the defender would have looked closer than he was and also, with Punchoen's shooting record he may have saved him the embarrassment of missing, which IMHO may be important as I think he's a confidence player and will get better after yesterday. Summary, more ooh's and aah's in the first 12 minutes than in a week in a Horton Heath Ind Unit. Best I have seen us play for a long time (JPT final not withstanding), AND the first time in many a year that I have gone hoarse while in the Chapel End. Still clearly a work in progress, can clearly see that the previous style was not right for the players we have, don't believe we will be able to play to feet from the back on ploughed fields in the winter and still likely to see mistakes costing us silly goals and silly dropped points. But was a happy bunny in the traffic coming out the ground and was still grinning as I went through Heathrow wearing the sash with some pride again. It will take a few more weeks, but we could have had 3 or 4 goals yesterday in the first 15-20 minutes, and when (ok IF) Rickie gets back to his scoring touch then the style should rip open a few more Bus Parking teams at SMS. Howe played it into our hands yesterday by turing up and trying to outplay us at football - made him look naive (And a whingeing tw*t on Solent) And a final well done to the Northam for the p*ss taking Small Team in Boscombe, Cup Final songs etc.

Feck me how do our American listeners cope, 4 mins to load a web page. 86F here in New Orleans, humidity is down due to a cold front that is moving air in from Canada, although it is very hot in California apparently. I think I am coping with 9 hours of jet lag - easy answer - drink another beer. In case the game isn't interesting, I scored a Birdie in the golf tournament AND an Alligator - yep went over to look for my sliced ball and stepped down to the waters edge and there it was. Will try and refresh, but the internet in the room is SO slow, we are still playing Rochdale down here. Oh the joys of conferences - Bourbon Street tonight, woo hoo and all that
