  1. There should be a Winter Break (if only to spare PL managers from the threat of physical assault when trying to stop players having parties!) There will never be one. How many games does an average English player get through in a season compared to others? You forget that (sadly) football has sod all to do with the fans or the well being of the players. Close a football stadium over Christmas? You're 'avin a larf! Think of all that lost revenue, luverly luverly profits on those replica shirts for the kids at Christmas. The chance for agents to unexpectedly bump into players/managers in a quiet corner of the players lounge just before the transfer window. Yep great idea, but the world runs on greed my friend, and ESPECIALLY the UK & football
  2. lol well at least on Tuesday I took the flag to SMS.... But wisdom prevailed and we kept it to wrap around our legs for the 2nd half! A chilly 20C here today, had to find a long sleeved Tee-Shirt last night. Hope you enjoyed the cold for a change though. Helps get the Xmas spirit flowing (from the hip flask!) Another week of TSW visitors looms down here and with you away we've got nobody left on the subs bench to cover for injuries!
  3. Not sure if this is correct MB... Listening to a humorous aside (not even an allegation) at MLT's dinner down here I think the article was more likely to have been along the lines that a certain possible ex sportsperson had mistakenly thought DoI would be a source of fresh ice cubes for his G&T
  4. Enjoyed listening to the game yesterday, despite their technical problems. Sounded like a proper game of football between two matched teams where we didn't quite have the guile to break them down. I suppose one worry is that we also struggled a little against Norwich to break them down and create chances. I probably agree with others that it may be time for Lambert to have a break and recharge his batteries, he is so important to us. Also, James is not a finished article, but he is improving and right now is a useful squad player. Read the opinions of many on here about Morgan and how "crap" he was, yet now we see many people thinking that we missed him yesterday. It is not James's fault that Murty has taken a second knock, and we do need cover in defence and for Lambert in January. My one real criticism of James is with his delivery, he delivers it from wide and deep but he has far too much loop on the ball, allowing defenders time to move and attack the ball, if you compare that to the flat trajectory Delap has with his throws, the flat fast ball causes so much more problems. He can get that sorted (MLT get down to Staplewood and show him) then I think he would set up more than his "lack of pace" concedes At the end of the day, we went to a team at the top of the table, we could have earned a point. We didn't, we won't implode and I'm with AP, 7 points off the play-offs at the end of January and I think we will have a chance. After all FFS Man U could be 6 points behind Chelsea, we don't hear Fergie saying they've given up and won't make it. Still a long way to go, it will be a hard stretch and we could have had our "golden run" too early to make it, but ain't no point slitting the wrists over a 1-0 loss away from home.
  5. Ah Christmas. The local Malls are full of decorations, Santa in his grotto. People wearing their Santa hats to collect their Turkeys, off to Church for Midnight Carol Service. Then a quick trip back to blighty and get arrested for wishing someone a Merry Christmas with a card having a St George's flag on it and being shot by Greenpeace for having a non-carbon friendly Christmas Tree. Christmas away from home means so much more. It always hits you the hardest when you're there slapping the factor 15 on while ogling the chicks in bikinis while sipping the early morning Sherry on the beach while the Maid starts the roast veggies. (Brought to you by THANK FOOK I got back yesterday to some warmth productions) :-)
  6. 1 to commment that.... This thread is completely non-PC, it totally ignores the fact that for many people, the mere concept of the chance to change a lightbulb is the stuff of dreams. For example, those without the physical ability (such as those Birmingham fans with vertigo) many are completely unable to reach upwards and change the lightbulb. OR How about those poor bonus-less bankers who have spent the last 3 weeks desperately trying to find the right lightbulb to change on last year's Christmas Lights simply because they are 2 million quid out of pocket this year for not being able to sell any leveraged finance to Liverpool FC or Dubai? OR Those poor souls marooned in the Channel Tunnel who had no option but to spend years (well hours) endlessly changing lightbulbs to try and find one with some electricity still inside to light up their carriage (well, many were French) Oh, and how about some respect for those many people killed each year by mistakenly holding on to the metal part of the bulb while plugging it in and who are thrown out of high rise building windows by the shock. Did you ever THINK to consider the hurt you have caused their surviving family members by reminding them of their tragedy? And what about those poor rich people who have Butlers or Maids to go to the store, purchase and then change the lightbulbs. Did you not think about their mental confusion when you started this one sided attack? No. You just blindly went and ruined so many people's Christmas experience. Banning's too good for him, restrict him to the Arts Forum, how DARE he resurrect old wounds and divisions like this.

  21. Lol now we have the commentators apologising. Fair enough. Can we sue the PA bloke at Elland Road instead for playing his music too long? Meanwhile, bit worried about the state of EoA at the game, he won't be used to all this excitement
  22. Feck, what a time to get a business call with everything kicking off

Perhaps you should go back to Radio College until you reach puberty. Meanwhile who's up for sending some of those Bart Simpson style funny name requests up to that PA announcer.. Would the owner of Dave Merrington's brain please report to reception
