Yes they would. The assets of the business in the medium term could be worth a lot of money, especially if you manage to pay off the creditors at about 20p in the pound The large wage earners will in the main be out of contract this summer, allowing a potential wage bill of around 5mil a year. Average L1 gates of around 12,000 would break even and you have the kids one year older and wiser who would start to have some value later in the season. Remember two things 1) When we went into Admin, all control on our destiny was lost we are no longer a football club with a history we are a deal waiting to be done. Some of us tried to point that out 2) Businessmen will do the deal. They will not care about sentiment, loyalty or feelings, they will look at potential asset values, areas to cut costs and improve profitability. In theory, the football club will be an inconsequential problem to be got rid of. If THEY think they can do deals and have the political connections to push through 500 houses in Jacksons Farm in 4 years as the UK comes out of recession they will look at the return from a punt on the club versus interest in the bank To a consortium trying to make the figures work, Lowe is useful as he "knows the ropes", and "knows what needs to be done. None of this makes sense when taken on a pure SFC Ltd and how many fans will go basis but overall, they'll probably think well, we can get 12,000, and once we start to win others will come back... Isn't it just HORRIFIC, but then that's why being out of control of events is SUCH a bad thing

YOU SNOGGED POOOORTVLIET??? WTF was HE doing there? Don't tell me he's part of Lowe's revolutionary new consortium?
-
In reality though it depends what deal they are offered. If they get a sensible settlement with no forward loading then why should they "give a toss". The buyers could just switch to HSBC with no overdraft, and there is no stadium debt. Just means the local suppliers get screwed, think we know how a hard assed businessman would view that - "there's a recession, do business our way or we'll go elsewhere" Tax & Vat won't care as long as they get paid... Don't look to the creditors to turn down the only bid in town, just join them in praying they have a choice

An interesting point and a possible tactical error. If the only choice between a football club and nothing is Lowe, then although the revenues and fan base would be through the floor, as others have said, Lowe would be prefereable to nothing, simply because at SOME point in the future there would be a hope that a passing billionaire could buy us, but if we were dead, he'd simply put flowers on the grave..... The PROBLEM is that of course it is possible that (IF RUMOURS ARE TRUE) Lowe would NOT be involved in the only bid. In this case we have to start to think where we as fans and where the fan groups stand. We can't simply have a Let's go Wilde moment, but it maybe that the support of the fan groupings and possibly their funds become important allies to stave off the disaster of a Lowe return. I get the feeling that Fry is a really bright and good guy, and will know what needs to be done. The problem will be that the rules of admin are quite clear, he has to get the best deal for the CREDITORS, not the club, so if this is true then I would expect he is likely to have more sleepless nights than us. Imagine having no legal alternative but to accept his bid when I am sure he would know what it would mean morally. Dear Lord please let it be no more than ITK crud or simple scare-mongering

Double ouch.... There was some speculation yesterday and some not overly happy faces apparently, so much so that I posted what some felt may be happening on another thread (about Lowe & WH Ireland and mentioned what sort of two horse race we were in on Derry's thread). Nobody knows anything but the word used was "I have a bad feeling", whether it was because rumour that somebody had leaked something to the Mail or what who can tell. If this DOES have any mileage, expect to be bombarded with the dirty laundry from all sides... Time to start praying that if this is true that there is some real competition out there. Crap

I take it that you didn't have someone tell you the WH Ireland conspiracy theory today then Derry:-) Let us hope the rumoured two horse race is between Arkle & Nijinsky and not Steptoe & Son's nag and one of those things the Dark Knights rode in Lord of the Rings But like you I now think we may have past the nadir and there could be life after footballing death -
Oh Christ no..... WH Ireland suspends a 15 million takeover of a rival about 4 weeks ago 2 Directors suspended for trying to vote against the board That gives them the money, the man with all the inside knowledge needed and reverse takeover part 2. http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/banking_and_finance/article6159753.ece What a horrible way to end a bad day I HATE google

well, guess what, you heard wrong....... Have actually been likened to a certain Mr George Clooney, but apparently I have a bigger willy and a better line in wit & repartee. Mind you to be fair, Samantha Ronson had imbibed one or two too many at that Atlantis party when she told me that. Luckily the paparazzi haven't actually learnt that I was the reason she split from Lindsay. Might bring her to the game, she'll look pretty good with the magic spray -
Saints 2-2 Burnley Post Match Reaction - Saints Relegated

After 16 years living amongst the world of Islam, one thing that happens is that you just forget all about gambling. It is often a shock to come back home and see how entrenched gambling is in UK society. But at the end of the day what shocks me the most now is how by any means of business management logic could one person have thought that gambling with the future of our football club by appointing and unknown untried manager to take a bunch of unknown untried kids and turn them into a competitive football team. We all tried to see positives, we tried to hope that the green shoots were there when we won at Derby, but at the end of the day, one man put everything we did not actually have on Lucky Number Slevin convinced it was a sure fire success. And since then this has just been inevitable. Tonight I am actually incredibly happy and relieved. The nightmare is finally over. The insanity is finally gone and all that remains are the last rites next weekend in Nottingham. I hope that unlike in that great movie, we, and the club, the victims of that gambler do have a future. If we don't then in some ways a life without the pain of this last year has to be better than more of what we had. Thank God that this season is now gone, I hope somebody gives us the chance to play and watch once again, but having just watched the way that those hated mancs tore apart the Spuds in the second half, I just wonder if I'll ever really see a Saints team play real football ever again. But a cloud is lifted now, all that remains is to watch the last of the idiot Dutch processes, people and systems torn out of the club -
Had a txt from a mate at the game he said a Saints fan was down and not moving at all for a long time couldn't see what happened at the end. People started a pitch invasion thread that was quickly locked. Banning them is not enough, what the hell are those idiots thinking? The FL already have it in for us, start next season on minus 25 and SMS closed for 3 games. That would just about kill any consorium's cash flow planning and bury us What a sad day
