I resemble that comment. Let's face it, I'm up against somebody trying to do an impression of one of our Dutch Coaches. We all know what THAT will mean on the day..... Meanwhile my final thought on this critical issue - we better bloody NOT fold next week, at least hang on until AFTER our game!

Well, for the likes of the first year pros and the lads who've only had a couple of games in the first team this season, I'm sure it could be a real problem for them. And some of the older guys are showing a lead But, as for some of the overpaid numpty senior pros, well yeah think we're with you on that one it would be darned inconvenient not having the cash for that new bit of bling

Actually on that last one, there is a quite reliable source by the name of Mark Fry. It was in his original press statement. The fact that the Hijack of the American Container ship went wrong and the Somali boys couldn't prove funds in time was neither here nor there. BUT there was something that Fry felt he needed to comment on though nobody has questioned it in the media or on here, so apart from the comment there has been no follow up, and anyways, nobody on here would have taken it that seriously - after all, Lowe talking to possible buyers - good grief our world would have turned upside down on here.

True and I agree with you. However it IS just possible that such a person does exist in the world, but because of the state of the global economy cannot do anything now. If we have a plan B that buys time, keeps us in the league then with that time we have some form of life. With that life we have some form of hope. But this IS very dangerous, I fear that the "cure" may end up suffocating the life out of the patient. And at the end of the day, I truly, deeply hope and pray that everyone involved is totally wasting their time and it isn't needed -

Frank Derry asked for opinions. I think it is pretty clear that there are some opinions don't you? Now, Derry is keen, motivated and at the moment able to do something positive to help the club, I don't think anybody deep down has any problem with having an emergency back-up plan, after all, we've all seen this season what "having no plan B" actually means. Now the point that should be taken on board by wise people is that there are some critical parts that need to be addressed for an SOS structure 1) It should have some form of legal entity status 2) It should unite the fan base 3) It should have a LEADER and a spokesperson that is non-political and would unite us all 4) It should avoid any reminders of our horrid past 5) It should be set up to act FAST to help try and keep our club alive IF all else fails I think it is pretty clear from here that all the "delegates" mentioned in Derry's Op MUST play a part in helping make this happen. they all in some ways have skills or structure that is needed. However, it is very clear that the delegates need to work together so that they Appoint a LEADER with a professional team supporting him that does NOT include any political types. It simply needs something like a Lawyer, an Accountant, POSSIBLY a local businessman (NOT Crouch) from (for example) one of the clubs Box holders or sponsors and MLT. Then there is nothing to be complaining about, clear simple mandate and a team that everyone can see is about saving the club, NOT about appearing on TV Dead simple and I believe Derry is wise enough to have heard that message -

nope. and I hope you don't mind me using your valid opinion (that is held by many) as an example to try and demonstrate others as to why they should step up. Others haven't been as clear and lucid in their comments in order to hold a sensible conversation with In the same way many fans in many places are doing anything they can to try and help, most are doing it in private. Myself & LGTC are only trying to add some logic to the "endless" Crouchie rallying calls. I always only analyse what I read on here and the media and seek to understand things rather than rail against. Everything tells me we're in the sh1t and it breaks my heart that we are so close to death and yet the tickets aren't selling very well. I've done some maths elsewhere and I reckon below 25k and we're not even going to be around long enough for the fund raising committees to kick in. -

Picking back up on Ron's point. This is not about buying the club. I truly hope so, because if they had done ANY research at all, even IF they bought it for a pound, the wage bill vs income expectations in L1 would still show a likely loss of around 250k a month. Any planning that doesn't work around that becomes a committee and talking shop. As a method of buying Mark Fry TIME, ie as a last resort unifying the fund raising efforts to keep us in business for another few weeks or even a month, then it is a worthy cause. BUT the problem is you just add another BARRIER - politics. Within minutes this thread shows up arguements AGAINST the concept. How on earth will you raise funds when fans question the very validity. Call it SOS, put the lad who organised the protests in charge with two independent fans who are an accountant and a lawyer and all work to support HIM, if not, as I say, find a reluctant hero to do it. MLT would be a good start -

Lol I'm not anti-supporter groups but reading some of these makes me think that maybe we'll end up as a parody "Parish Committee" type show with French & Saunders in it. WS - your point about the "legal entity" status is fair, but the problem is (in an entirely extreme example, NOT a comparison) Robert Mugabe's government is "a legal entity". Now much of the fan base don't recognise the Trust, but their political links are important. Find a local businessman and fan - ask the guys who have boxes at SMS or are sponsors if they would help the cause and run it as SOS, supported by blah blah and blah What you need is a RELUCTANT hero. Not a wannabe -

Again, I agree with the whole concept of why the hell should we have to step up just so that a bunch of in the main swaggering idiots can afford to put fuel in their 'top of the range" motors is sickening. I agree that many of them are not worth the effort. But the point is, as you say, short term memories. By not getting the crowd numbers up and not surving until Fry gets a deal done, there will not BE a team to moan about next season. It's pretty clear to all of us that the squad should be decimated in the close season, can we not at least take the view that going on Saturday gives us time to get our REVENGE on those idiots by watching them drift off into Bosman land? Buy a ticket but make your protest by not turning up, buy a shirt instead, in 10 years time it will be worth a fortune on ebay if we cease to exist, but to sulk and do nothing is only going to bring more misery in the future when we have no players to moan at -

Derry The club is in this mess because of our recent history. The Trust and SISA are, unfortunately a part of that history. The club must make a fresh start, unity is crucial, but anything in terms of naming, branding, leadership that harks back to recent history rather than New Beginning will not unite the fan base. Sisa, Crouch, The Trust, MP's, councillors, LM and all the rest should unite but should put ALL their weight behind a new group, a new name and a new start. That means they have to find a spokesperson and a leader who is not sullied by past association with the failed club or any of the failed incarnations of leadership in the past 5 years. Watching Chorley, Crouch et al trying to lead us to a new future will not work for the fan base. Give yourselves a new name and find a new figurehead and you may have a chance -
OK let's try and guess. In the year end 30th June 2007 our operating COSTS were 27.2 MILLION, 21.5 of that was "cost of sales" Our revenue was 23.2 million Now we actually made a profit that year because of player sales fast forward to this year Let's guess Lowe made a massive and miraculous (in business terms) 40% cut in costs it comes down to 16mil So each month of the year our costs are guessed at 1.33 mil Now we know clearly that on the day administrators walked in we had zero money because Barclays bounced cheques, but by end of May we will have had 3 home games. Somebody on here will know exactly how many ST holders we have but let us guess 12,000 so we had about 14,000 discounted tickets at the games at say 17.50 each (kids for quid and stuff as well as the discount price for Charlton & buy shop stuff) makes it 735k received in revenue from tickets In the 2008 numbers we got around 8mil for Broadcasting which is 660k a month. So with lumpy guessing maths we have income of 1.395mil and costs of 1.3 mil. The problem is of course that this is the last chance to earn revenue and then whoosh. But then we see that the latest guesses on ticket sales from the Burnley thread is 17,000 - ouch - that means the income figure drops down to around 90k for Burnley game and a total income of around 580k against costs of 1.3mil So even allowing the total guesses needed on numbers the club will not have earned enough cash in the time of admin to pay the costs of running the cub. That is insolvency, that is illegal and they would not be able to even book a coach to travel to Notts Forest. And of course, all indications are that Fry has not yet received a formal bid for the club. Even if he HAD, it would take some days for the cash to reach the bank account, we would be gone before we could get bought even IF it was Paul Allen.... Numbers ain't exact, but rocket science it isn't anything under 25,000 on Saturday and we are in deep sh1t

TBF the reaction down here is the same as everywhere else. The whole audience s******ing thing leading up to that collective WTF moment is what has made her You Tube moment so special Reality show or not, it was a special moment that technology allowed the world to share, it ain't what you do it's how you do it. Good luck to the lass, I for one found it a magic moment, and at the end of the day I'd rather have that silly grin I had when I first saw it than the worries of the world. That was a special moment, she probably won't have the same impact in that weird show and thank fook we won't get to see it all down here

Trousers, your effort tonight has been almost as remarkable as the Liverpool v Arsenal game........ although I think only one of those two efforts will be remembered for years to come. And with that I bid you a goodnight

Dear Leon We know you are an ardent Saints fan and are doing your bit to rally the troops to go the extra mile to help the club in their hour of need. I have an exceptionally interesting business opportunity for you. On 17th May, SMS will hold a fund-raising match to gain some valuable funds to help keep the club going long enough for a buyer to complete their purchase. The club needs that cash NOW, so I propose a deal that a successful businessman like you cannot possibly ignore. Our stadium holds 32,000 people, which at 20 pounds a ticket would raise 640,000 pounds. What I propose is that you could underwrite that event by making a pre-payment of 200,000 pounds, which would be secured against an attendance of only 10,000. In return for your generosity, I would propose that when the match is eventually held, the Football Club would return you your investment (should we reach 10,000) and the share the profit from 10,000 to 20,000 spectators on a 67.30% to club 33.7% to you (after costs). For the risk of your investment you could see a return of 66,700 pounds, which in these days of low interest rates represents a remarkable return. For any amount over the 20,000 we would offer you 10% of the incremental profits. With your legendary skills in calling for support, the success of the event can be guaranteed by your work in the media. In fact, I am sure that teh fans would even grant you the opportunity to match your erstwhile nemesis by granting you a few minutes of match time. Leon, your club needs you, your money, and your viral internet marketing supporters. You know it makes sense, and this is a deal that is simply too good to turn down. (Of course if things aren't so bad then obviously, please disregard this request)
