Why didn't Crouch save us from administration?
dubai_phil replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
The PROBLEM though Steve is that this forum and it's predecessor killed off any attempts by anybody to tell any of their stories to a wider audience. The initial appalling lack of care, attention and confidentiality by many posters when we first started going through those "wonderful weekly Friday Takeovers" has led to a culture on here of ITK'ers are as bad as Lowe/Atilla The Hun/Ghengis Khan etc. Also, with the club in such a mess at the moment, raking over old stories, breaching confidentiality etc may also do great harm to people who are trying to get us out this mess. The problem with 19C is that he does have a point about "it is not just Lowe" but he manages to put that across so single-mindedly that he just gets everyone's back up, so who in their right mind would even BOTHER to start to type out the "I had dinner with xyz on abc date and they said" type stories that back all of this up when you know he'll post and divert the thread or you'll just get a sh*t load of abuse. Let 19C make a mess of getting his simple point across - in some ways it's good he just brings out the worst in others, it stays away from sensible threads these days! Sure, it wasn't ONLY Lowe, but right now it must be best to wait until the mess is sorted out and the old companies, the old NDA's become irrelevant, the older protagonists march off into the sunset with the paintings and statues, then the stories can be told, and there are a hell of a lot of them as many of us are learning. Of course, should one of the amigos or even hangers on think it sensible that they should stay and play train sets again, then I am sure the gloves would truly be off and you better check your anti-libel spamware licences I reckon the best place to start the story telling will be in the bar after the Forum match - ain't gonna be no trolling over a pint or 6! -
RB Ivan Golac - cannot remember who it was (maybe WBA) hit a screamer from the right side of the pitch as he ran onto it CB Russell Osman - comedy own goal no idea who it was against CM Alan Ball vs Coventry in the 5-5 draw. He took the ball direct from the kick off took what seemed to be about 5 steps and just hit it. Keeper never moved and I am still convinced to this day that he was just on the edge of the circle when he hit it

Dyer permanently to Swansea, keeps the club going.
dubai_phil replied to derry's topic in The Saints
Curiouser and curiouser So the bank were at work on Friday? I know it's been a long time since I left blighty and all that but wasn't Friday a Bank Holiday? Again I could understand not having enough money to pay to a coach company to get to the game and even having enough to pay for the petrol, but.... -
Forum match at SMS - one space remaining (away team manager!)

Dyer permanently to Swansea, keeps the club going.
dubai_phil replied to derry's topic in The Saints
Makes no sense worded as it is Derry. Dyer is an (intangible) asset of the football club. I cannot see how an asset could be pre-sold at the beginnning of the whole potential bidding process IF a consortium is looking at buying us, THEY may want to decide on the value or otherwise of the playing squad. Sure it would make sense as a back-up plan... If this was couched in more careful terms it would seem wiser and more believable... Such as "IF SFC fail to find a buyer for the club by the time the transfer window opens, then an outline agreement has been reached to sell Dyer to Swansea to help keep the club afloat a little longer...." -
Back to square one SLH had no money, it bounced cheques. We had two home games 48,000 people with what 20,000 St's (no idea the number) So say 24,000 matchday tickets sold at an average of 20 quid = 480k.... Now without ANY other things to pay for - like the electricity bill etc, how much do you think our monthly WAGES bill is? Did we actually PAY the wages in March? or the Income tax bit? Skacel & Euell alone is around 100k...... And on 25th April we have our last home game and our last source of income until the new season UNLESS we can sell ST's... But we will still have to pay out the wages a few days later - and then puff - nothing coming in..... Ain't no way SFC can keep running during the summer without the ST money OR the takeover
-
The fundamental flaw in that concept is that the Football Club needs to SPEND that ST money in order to pay the wages (amongst other items). Once spent, it cannot be kept safe in escrow. Then IF we don't get bought, the ST holders will not get back their full amount from the Administrator as the Football Club will be gone. Again, what sort of take up would there be IF that risk was hanging over us??? It's all about controlling the risks - we aren't in control - so the fans could lose money - morally it's wrong, commercially we may not make many people PAY for the tickets (look at the row on here over the simple BUCKET collection!) and it may also be illegal but I have no idea
-
Oh keep up! I said that about 4 hours ago as well as a couple of times before - an indavertent consequence I called the thread8-[

It isn't that easy. In CCC we will get more TV revenue than we would in L1. We are also likely to get a slightly higher average attendance. The cost of running the actual club - paying for the players is pretty much set in stone as the club are bound by contracts - we have to pay Rasiak for example IF we cannot give him away. So our costs are pretty much fixed What players they COULD sell is pretty much flexible Our Income is dependent on which league we are in So the BUYERS must have SOME cash to cover the losses next year. Losses in L1 are likely to be higher than if we are in CCC with increased TV So the new owners NEED to have money to keep the club running even IF they are benevolent fans. Would it not be wise to give LESS to the administrator IF you can and keep more to keep us in with a chance of getting out of L1? Especially IF as I suspect, people looking at us have only afixed amount of cash to play with (I ain't ever found money growing on a tree)
-
What we are REALLY missing in that debate are the actual figures. No issue with the sentiments at all. As you know, by all criteria nobody can argue that Lowe did anything OTHER THAN fail this year, so it is his fault we are where we are now. But I also wonder whether we may have actually been dead even before he tried the Norwegian Blue Parrot sketch trick on us... I'm sure we'll get some facts once the whole NDA thing gets finished or new people want to let "the Truth be Out there" Shame they were never able to publish the half year figures to see what was really happening behind the scenes

He is talking about both... As per my reply to the OP. Being in Admin means that matters are no longer in your own hands and the clock can work against a rescue. The RISK element increases greatly (as you allude to with your worry) That is why some including myself worried about the concept of going into Admin. The dangers are very real that we will go out of business. The FL indecision could destroy us as it obviously impacts on the "value" of the club for any buyer where we play next season But at the same time because we are in Administration, no creditor is likely to "lend" us any more money because of the nature of the FL regs and player contracts we cannot simply make high earners redundant - we have to keep paying them - there is some stuff that the PFA could do to help but... We don't have the 500k or so to pay the players wages each month ESPECIALLY when we have no football matches over the summer. No decision by FL impacts the price the administrator can get for the club which affects whether the creditors THINK they can get more by having a closing down auction, and the BESt way of getting cash to keep going over the summer - Season tickets - Who's gonna shell out 300 quid when the club could 1) Still go bust 2) Be bought by Lowe for a pound at auction 3) May be in L1 or CCC or even kicked out completely. I've been worried since day one and nothing I see makes it any better
-
The issue is also that once the bulk of the money from ticket sales for the Burnley game has been banked, then unless Season Tickets are sold, the club will have virtually no more income until July. Yet it will still have to pay player salaries, employee salaries, taxes, VAT, Utility Bills etc... So while we may complete our fixtures, IF the FL take time to make their decision even IF we stay up and there are appeals and court proceedings, any potential buyer may hold back, and of course we will cease to exist. I cannot see anyway that we could survive until we could earn money next season IF we cannot sell ST's. Likewise I cannot see many people parting with money for ST's until they know our future and who will own us... A catch-22 situation is looming that FL non-decision could prove fatal
-
And that, political positions on "bucket collections" aside, is THE single most worrying thing that has been posted on here since Admin was announced
-
One point I'd make Alps is about TIME.... "Assuming" that some people in the past "may" have looked to buy the club, they will have approached in their own time - ie, if a consortium, they would have had their act together as a group, some form of contractual agreements, who would do what etc and how much they would put in, would all have been done prior to rolling up to kick the tyres. One of the biggest issues those groups would have faced would have been "The Cash". They may well all be billionaires, but they would never have had 30mil hanging around in their current accounts. They would have needed to either sell other assets or "leverage" them - ie get a loan. In the "old days" that was quite easy..... Fast forward to now The TIMING is set by the Administrator. This means that possible bidders have to get their act together before they can walk in. One example is a consortium say of 3 people - what name do they use? Do they have a legal entity such as a Ltd Company. have they got their internal agreements together? All of that takes time and burns lawyers fees. So once they have dropped their other work (they're successful businessmen so have businesses to run) they then have to get down to SMS, sign NDA's and somehow prove funds. Now in today's world, the "asset leverage" is a different game, they may have 30 mil available to spend, but the Administrator needs FUNDS proven, not assets (as eg SLH had 30 mil of "assets" it could have proven)..... They can contact the administrator to ask for an NDA & no doubt some facts nad figures (seems like anyone can do that), but they still have work to do. So they actually have to set up their group legally, set up the "beneficial owner", find a way to get 15/20 mil into their bank account and bingo sign. What actually worries ME, is not that nothing is happening, it is that people are hinting on here that a consortium "is going well" or that "the council is considering buying SMS"... To me I don't see how they could have got their act together so quickly, which leads me to think they were "almost ready" before admin happened...

Where Will the Creditors Get Their Money From?
dubai_phil replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
Although a possible pedantic scenario is that the bank appointed Begbies Taylor not the Board So it is possible the board voted for admin but the main secured creditor made the appointment That would answer both logical inputs HTH -
Where Will the Creditors Get Their Money From?
dubai_phil replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
Well it has been commented on before, and no I ain't any good at trawling through threads on here but yes I am pretty sure on that one Think back also to the logic of it and some of the press statements at the time - a rumoured investor was trying to prove funds (which Fry mentioned) which had caused a delay. I simpy cannot see the directors pulling the plug if they thought the cavalry was round the corner why would they destroy their own shareholder value IF..... it seemed much more logical that the bank got fed up waiting. Also this version fits some of the more intriguing conspiracy theories, emanting from taxi drivers and stewards so I'll stick with my feeling on this as my entry for when we do the next round of TSW's Alpine Memorial "I told you so" awards TBF, there were all sorts of rumours at the time as to who pulled the plug and whether that was real or not -

JF book value is 1.1 million Bovis option expired in early April according to posts on here ages ago Think GM is overstating the percentages for the general creditors though, tax & football debts are sacrosanct, but there will be some areas of negotiation, likely to be Barclays who may listen to an offer of cash and a secured longer term loan (ie the buyers may simply need to sign a guarantee) and also the general creditors (the suppliers and maybe even the council for rates rents or whatever) I still also have a gut feeling that the whole global banking mess of dicing up loans and reselling them may impact on the value Aviva would accept. I just think they may have sold it on or even have it as a toxic debt. No idea how it impacts the whole FL issue though -
OK let me see if I have got this straight. Rodney, who served in the British Armed forces in Germany in the late 1970's and who is into farming Mange Tout is buying the club. Should be easy enough to find on google

Dear Hufton Are you sure he simply didn't say "Home James" when he got into your motor? All this speculation over a mis-hearing :-)

Now THAT's what I call a road trip - can see it now just popping out to do the shopping Habibe... hi darling - you know that GPS thingy, not sure it's working properly again I once saw a Mondeo in Damascus with a British Number plate. Thought at the time it was a hell of a long way to go for a good kebab

Lol So here we are, all but extinct, hoping that from somewhere a bunch of brave people will stump up some 10 million quid or so on a punt to turn this club around.... And these people who will invest this sum of money will pop up and appoint somebody that 1) has never been heard of outside of Hampshire & South Wiltshire 2) has no experience of running a "bigger club" If we get bought, the new manager will not be the equivalent of a Football League YTS trainee. That was Ruperts' big idea, we know how that worked every time... Of course, if a group with the fiscal equivalent of 75p pick us up and let the other assets fall off to council/developers etc, then TW would be far too expensive
-
Toes my friend, toes.... Knowing our luck, the only "Arabs" with any interest in anything to do with Southampton will be the Somali immigrants from Yemen with speed boats and AK47's... Mind you they seem to have lots of cash around at the moment... That's it gang - lets get out into the Solent and hijack ourselves a nice Supertanker - Rupe's said he wanted to help so we can borrow his duckhunting guns - piece of cake!

Following adverse reactions on the world famous TSW fans forum, Administrator Mark Fry came up with a new approach to allow potential bidders to watch the game for free this weekend. Unfortunately, the instructions regarding "blending in" did not quite get implemented as hoped for

With the pending demise of his lucrative employment in football with Southampton, Rudi Skacel clearly misunderstood his agent's instructions when he suggested he should try out for a part in Jackass The Movie 3
