  1. I had no idea England were playing today and only noticed there was a game on when I was scrolling through Twitter just now.
  2. Thinking about captains made me realise that outside of a few teams I don't even know who their captains are. Not sure it even matters anymore as there will be leaders throughout most teams regardless of whether they have an armband on or not.
  3. Booed outside St Paul's today. You'd have thought the crowd would be full of Royals who would at worst be ambivalent towards him but no, he got a bit of a Claude Puel reception in the last few home games of his time at Saints.
  4. Absolute legend as far as I'm concerned for THAT goal at Anfield. Not really bothered about his goalscoring record or whatever else happened in his career here because he gave me one of my best moments as a Saints fan. For that I will love him forever. Have another watch, if you don't get goosebumps you aren't human.
  5. Interesting that enough NME readers managed to see Jimi Hendrix live to vote him into this poll. I can just about accept that some have seen Nirvana, but again unlikely seeing as they didn't play that many UK gigs and Kurt Cobain died over 25 years ago. Also Muse as number 1? Best of all time? Give over. OSees are the best live band I've ever seen. Been to 12 of their shows. No need for any massive stage production when you can just plug in and play like they do. John Dwyer is an absolute God.
  6. He's not shit at all. I don't understand how you arrived at that opinion. Will we sign him? Probably not, I imagine he'll go to a bigger club.
  7. That goes without saying. The context of the post was in relation to his signing for Spurs and whether it's a good move for them or not.
  8. He'll surely be playing for Dortmund more next season now Haaland has left. Has been injured this season which is why he hasn't played much.
  9. If it's got 11 tracks rather than 12 and a plain pink back cover then it's the proper first edition. £200+ if it's in decent condition. The record of there's that's worth insane amounts is the unreleased single version of God Save The Queen. Well over £10k if you have one of them. https://www.discogs.com/release/384928-Sex-Pistols-God-Save-The-Queen
  10. Would have been great to win. There's plenty going on here now compared to 10 years ago or so. Obviously it doesn't compete with a lot of bigger cities but it's doing fine. Winning the City of Culture would have given it another push though.
  11. Still a decent player but nowhere like he was. Getting on a bit too.
  12. Or maybe, I like music and there's thousands of good bands and artists and it just so happens that I prefer some of the lesser know ones to those who are more mainstream. Not sure what's wrong with that?
  13. He did Rose Bowl too didn't he? Seem to remember people moaning about traffic chaos afterwards.
  14. What gigs have there been at St Mary's? Bon Jovi, Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams, Take That and Killers. Any others? We really should have more, it's a good revenue earner for the club and good for the city.
  15. Oh yeah Murder Capital are better than Fontaines. My current favourite Irish band are Just Mustard. Worth a listen for any shoegaze fans.
  16. I quite like it if it doesn't rain and there's a festival involved.
  17. I don't think any of them have unless you maybe count Fontaines? I'm not that into indie anyway. I just like going to a couple of gigs a week, supporting local venues and promotors and seeing bands come through.
  18. Were they playing cover versions then because their own songs are shit?
  19. This is the little things that annoy you thread? That should go in a medium to large things that annoy you thread unless you're ex was quite small, in which case the little part of this refers to her height and not how annoying it actually was?
  20. You can look at that structure as being a bit like a football club. Manager: Boris Johnson Coaches: Advisors Players: MP's Therefore the important question we need answering is whether any of the advisors lost their jobs over this and if so did Boris Johnson turn up at the meeting with HR to tell them they were sacked?
  21. I'm going to say within the last 10 years but it's ramped up in the last 5. My son has his soon, and while he's not fussed about it there are girls in his year whose parents are buying them £400 dresses and hiring sports cars or limos. It's very bizarre.
  22. Ha, I worked in Virgin in the late 90's. Bought some records then but not as many as I should because some from that era when they weren't making many are worth loads now. Still happens with bands who get bigger a while after their first singles. I bought a Dry Cleaning record when it came out less than 3 years ago and now it goes for £300+. Imagine having a record worth £100k. That's totally nuts.
  23. 70's psych, original African records, first pressings of bands that become massive, Northern Soul 7" and old funk/blues are others where the big money goes on. This monthly list from Discogs is always interesting: https://blog.discogs.com/en/top-30-most-expensive-items-sold-on-discogs-in-march-2022/
  24. Definitely on board with the dislike of ties. Going to throw parents who hire out posh sports cars for their kids to turn up at their high school prom into the mix. What's that all about?
  25. Most grounds seem to have a largely poor home support these days in my experience and the scores in that section are dependent on whatever happened in the game he went to. If it was a dull 0-0 against a random mid table team it's not going to be the same as an exciting 3-2 against a local rival or whatever. Our food is poor, those hot dogs look particularly nasty. Our stadium is very dull as well. No surprise to see Leicester ranked alongside us although they should have been docked points for still dishing out those clackers. It would require big investment to sort the concourses out. They've at least tried in the Family Stand which is now much better than it was pre-covid with a big screen and murals.
