  1. I think the antisemitism on the left stems from maxist theory rather than a pro Palestinian position and the Palestinian issue is a easy stick to beat Jews with. There are plenty of land issues that the left don't get exercised by. This is probably a simplistic understanding as real life is more mixed up but is believed that the traditional stance of the marxist left is the notion that the means of production are not controlled by the working population but by those with and access to money. As banks were thought to by owned by Jewish people they were seen as the enemy of the people. Today world bankers is code for evil Jews to some people. It just the continuation of other antisemitic tropes like the blood libel.
  2. The 1976-77 FA Cup winners badge was like that.
  3. That's probably the best version of the old badge I've seen. But it needs a halo and a tree and two rivers and maybe a ball and scarf would be nice.
  4. Never knew that about US graphic design. But the graphics they use on their TV channels/programmes really are shit, all look alike and 20 years out of date.
  5. I was wrong you didn't think it was used for exaggeration or as a loaded word but it was being used as exaggeration and as a loaded word. Your set ups are so obvious. He was suspended for what he said regarding the report, not for being an anti semite. His supporters will claim that he is against some of the policies of Israel not against Jews. Whilst there appears to be a horrible strain of lefties who are antisemitic, I don't think Corbyn is, but I don't really know. He was, though, shit at clamping down on it in the party. So if one thinks he is not an anti semite and that there are no charges in this respect to face and as the whip is still being withheld from him then it's consistent to think he is being persecuted. Afterall you still can't cone up with a better word. Of course the consequences of this political persecution is not on the scale of the persecution of jewish people, surely that's a given.for anyone hearing the statement. Or are you saying this word can never be used in any other context ever again because it might upset jewish people. So then faux outrage and cancel culture is alive and well on the right of the spectrum.
  6. I didn't claim anything, I asked you a question, but as ever you struggle to keep up. You are trying to claim that they are either exaggerating or using a loaded word, either argument is pathetic.
  7. What's a better word given that his supporters claim his treatment is politically motivated.
  8. I quite like the Villa one and the Liverpool one is ok, the rest are shit, ours particularly but not as bad as Man Us.
  9. Muse and jazz. Facebook. Krispy Kremes. Nandos I get, but not queuing for Nandos.
  10. We had family around for sunday lunch the other week and I listened to an amazing conversation between my thick brother in law and my wife's equally stupid cousin about 5G nonsence, that there was some big force behind corona, Bill Gates wants to kill lots of people, the vacine will be dangerous. The conversation was interspersed 'yeah its all over FB' 'this bloke on FB reckons...'. Basically if its on FB they believe it or believe that there might be something in it, and the more they reads this shit the more shit it sends them. My other brother in law is an infowars fan and decries everything he hears in 'MSM' as fake news and implores me to find stuff out for yourself. Yet this free thinker thinks broadly the same way as all the other guys on these sites. We are all influenced by the information we choose to listen to but we are heading for strange times and being led there by social media. The nonsense people believed in this country before like religion, monarchy and class was generally harmless but now the stuff has the potential to be more dangerous.
  11. Yes it was a fact that the coach told him something but the something he told him wasn't a fact. It's simple really.
  12. So you typed 'so you're claiming' just for fun then. You've always struggled to keep up.
  13. Stop with the faux outrage. This is a witch hunt.
  14. FFS we were speaking specifically about the line about girls football.
  15. I didn't say he was expressing his opinion I said he was expressing an opinion. Some coach telling him that girls dont like the ball hit hard at them isn't a fact it's the opinion of a coach.
  16. What a shit and pointless conspiracy that would be.
  17. I didn't say his view didn't mstter, it matters because he is the chairman of the FA speaking on behalf of thd FA. That doesn't mean everything he says is correct.
  18. Because some old blazer from the FA says it doesn't necessarily make it true.
  19. What he said about girl's wasn't a fact it was an opinion, hth.
  20. No Clarke wasn't reporting facts he was reporting opinions, this wasn't some study, just what a few blokes in the game think. So we don't know if the reality and this stereotype actually match. That's my point. It doesn't take much critical thinking to see that these blokes, similar to the one's who have been wrong before, may be wrong again.
  21. An anecdote isn't proof off anything realky though, its just one persons opinion and if you are speaking at a select meeting you need to bring more to the table then a few anecdotes. Football has form with this stuff, black guys are no good in goal, foreigners cant play on a wet weekend night in Grimsby, he doesn't look like a footballer, big guys cant jump/haven't got skillful feet, Asians can't play. You just have to think about it for a second, there are plenty of girls playing rough sports and there are plenty of proper goal keepers playing in womens football, so if there is a problem with bringing girl goal keepers through, there might be another reason. Your girls gave up football because they just weren't into it just like hundreds of boys who give up, it doent prove some fundamental about women's football.
  22. My daughter played football for years and every match she played there were always two goalkeepers. A lot of them were shit and some only saved with their legs because they weren't natural keepers but they were happy to have balls hit at them. After all plenty of girls do martial arts, box, play rugby... In my opinion it's a supply issue snd a coaching issue. My son plays and a lot of young boys become goalkeepers to get to into teams they couldn't out on pitch. It's a face saving move, they then get into it and get specific coaching. This doesn't happen in all girls football, yet.
  23. Some in the Ruplican party will want to push the discrediting of the election result for as long as hard as they can. To set up a narrative that they can ride next time and the polarisation of the US will continue. Some Republicans I believe think they haven't got to moderate their offer but can rely on the energised base and find more voters not from the middle floating voter but from new voters, afterall there's another third of possible voters to mobilise.
  24. I have a nice WW1 story. My gran was born in Ireland before the war, just ourside her house was a stone to stop the carts from driving too close to their front door and after the war this large simpleton used to sit on the stone watching the world go by. The local kids used to provoke him until he went mad and chase them down the street. My grans mother would make him a cup of tea and be nice to him. In the pubs of a Saturday night he would tell everyone of this fantastic story of how he saved a British officer who was wounded on the battlefield by slinging him over his shoulders and hauling him back to the trenches. But no one believed him and just thought he was a shell shocked loon. Anyway at somepoint in the 1920's a British man came looking for him and tracked him down in his local, he had come to thank him and told everyone there the story of how this man saved his life. He wasn't the shell shocked coward that people had thought he was, he really was a war hero. The kids still wound him up but he had gained the respect of everyone in the town.
