Stupid question.

Other cities without a professional football club?
Fan The Flames replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Saints
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_status_in_the_United_Kingdom England Bath Birmingham Bradford Brighton and Hove Bristol Cambridge Canterbury Carlisle Chester Chichester Coventry Derby Durham Ely Exeter Gloucester Hereford Kingston upon Hull Lancaster Leeds Leicester Lichfield Lincoln Liverpool City of London Manchester Newcastle upon Tyne Norwich Nottingham Oxford Peterborough Plymouth Portsmouth Preston Ripon Salford Salisbury Sheffield Southampton St Albans Stoke-on-Trent Sunderland Truro Wakefield Wells Westminster Winchester Wolverhampton Worcester York -
It all points back to them not having enough cash, hence the FL statement 'The Football League has the responsibility to ensure all League clubs start the season with certainty as regards the competition they compete in'.
-
The only evidence so far is from a dog walker who spotted four people, one a fit lady with nice tanned legs, in white suits getting out of a silver Range Rover with Swiss plates (from the Zurich region I believe) in the car park at SMS the other day.
-
So if the law of the land was to trump the law of the FL why didn't Pinnacle buy and proceed with litagation.
-
However the FL famously lost a lot of money pursuing Granada and Carlton through the courts by claiming they were inextricably linked to the belly up ITV Sport (or whatever it was called). Only to be ruled against, so their judgement or legal advice isn't water tight.
-
Inextricably linked, doesn't that mean that one can not survive with out the other. However it doesn't mean that things couldn't be altered so they could. So as we were set up one needed the other to survive, but this relationship could be altered and in doing so doesn't make them not inextricably linked in the past

But SLH can not provide a CVA because it is wound up hence the catch 22. However I think that this theory would hold some water only if Pinnacle came out and said this was the reason, but they are not because maybe this will force the FL to say what the real reason was ie imo not enough cash.
-
I think there is every opportunity we could join the BSP next season if it all goes tits up. I reckon they would just let us join as an extra team, good for their profile and gate receipts.
-
Isn't that the point, no one knows the facts yet a few have chosen to jump on him already. Only a very few No one minds people questioning his judgement but its the few that have found him guilty already is what is bothering. Was Darrens (who seems like a good bloke) point valid or was it another opinion not based on fact.
-
It easy to assume that MJ pulled out because it was fast approaching put up or shut up time. Why Pinnancle pulled out is still unknown, if they were time wasters they wouldn't have gone into exclusivity.
-
We don't know if Crouch was involved with Pinnacle yet and we don't know if there are any other consortium that have been delayed because of Pinnacle. We just don't know. I thank Crouch for all that he's done for SFC and for wanting to get involved.

From the BBC website A Football League statement read: "The Football League has the responsibility to ensure all League clubs start the season with certainty as regards the competition they compete in. "With that in mind, the Football League has responded directly to the Pinnacle Group and will continue to liaise with their representatives." That reads as though the FL do not believe the bid was that financially viable.
-
Didn't the football league say one of the reason's behind their reluctance to issue the FL Share was the future viability of the club. Maybe this is because Pinnacle only had the money to buy it through a loan but not the money to support that loan over the medium/long term with out us getting back up at least one division, certainly not if we went down. Hence why Fry was happy as he got his asking price and why TL wanted to fight the point deduction. Maybe the FL wanted the moneyman to buy a stake or larger stake in the company. Hopefully the facts will start to emerge.

Who will be the higher placed team come Saturday.
-
I started the thread as a depository for positive messages. I too am sadden by some people it makes you wonder what joy they get out of supporting the Saints.
-
Lets be fair, there was a hugh amount of support on here for Pinnacle which slowly diminished as the cracks began to show. We, The Echo or the Mail can not be blamed for the failure of the Pinnacle bid.
-
Are you getting a semi with all this gloating. Jesus, well done for asking questions early, others just wanted to wait and see what happens first. Well done you won the game, but it doesn't help SFC at all.
-
People just wanted something good to happen and where prepared to park their cynical brains for a while. Nothing wrong in that.
-
Spill the beans Tony or **** off.
-
We don't blame you, you tried your best.
-
Bingo, we have a winner of the reading between the lines competition.
-
It looks like the FL were looking out for our best interests.
-
I thought this old chestnut had been put to bed a while back i.e. rest of the board, Wolves etc.
-
This was one of my thoughts, so it could be a signal that Pinnacle will go ahead or equally it could be a signal that they wont. We will be kept from knowing until the bitter end.
