I did actually mean to say exports instead of manufacturing (although obviously manufacturing is a big part of that). http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/10577238/Britains-export-target-wont-be-hit-without-changes-says-spending-watchdog.html

Its good news - but its still just a recovery driven by increased consumer demand - and as wages aren't rising that just means more debt. whatever happened to Osbourne's much vaunted manufacturing led recovery?

Yeah sorry. People saying a clubs history is largely irrelevant and all that matters is now ****es me off. Herbert Taylor and this ad is a perfect example of why thats bullcrap. I hope Herbie is at games for many more years to come.

What an odd post. Advertising and brand image is primarily directed towards your customers, not your staff. hth

You have noticed the Barclays ad is all about history and what it means to fans? You know Barclays - the 300 year old bank with 100 million customers in 30 countries. The sponsors of the PL. The people who make £6bn a year. I thought you could offer them a few tips about getting their advertising more on message and relevant, cause you don't want the CEO bothering about what their primary source of income thinks.

No offence but I think you're missing the point. Yes we probably need a CB upgrade for the longer term but no matter who we bring in it would be unreasonable to put them straight into the team and expect them to perform better than Jos or Yoshida or Wanyama straight away. Wanyama has played at CB for both Celtic and Kenya. The best short term option is to go with what we have imo.
-
Wonder if Wanyama will be put in as CB and keep Cork in midfield.

Barclays have got no idea about branding. They need to bring KelvinsRightGlove in.

Absolutely spot on! The difference between B and Bletch is letch. -
Its doubtful whether we could could get a real improvement in on loan (who would be available?) and even if we did getting them up to speed on tactics and forging an understanding with the rest of defence would take far longer than 4 weeks. Yoshida and Jos may not be top PL quality but they know our drills and just need to play.

"With great regret it was necessary that we accepted Cortese's resignation" is probably what she actually meant.

This. Avoid the purple stuff, not enough bouquet and some harsh notes.

Gaston always looks as though he spent the night on a park bench after a particularly rough bottle of meths.

No but she'd care about Saints being sued by Benali - and being on good terms with a famous and popular ex Saint who presents a football programme is just good sense. Also she got stung for £2 at the carpark when meeting Pochettino, despite only staying 5 minutes.

Still lagging behind Streetlamp, Chernobyl and Hypnotoad.....

Saving money on agents fees as a point of principle - but ending up paying higher transfer fees or signing on fees because the club or player then had to give a slice to the agent. It was all smoke and mirrors.

This really. Why don't you post like this more often?

Navy blokes been based in Plymouth for years? developed an affection for Argyle over time but still go and see their home club when they can? Proves my point doesn't it?
-
Exactly. If the world was like FC claims then people would adopt a new team when they moved out of Southampton, but they don't, they maintain a loyalty. Ive lived in or near Brighton for more years than growing up in Southampton - but still drive 150 miles round trip to home games, often bringing my two Brighton born kids with me. Stretch people's loyalties too much and you lose it - turn them into just consumers of product. As a consumer I might as well go see Chelsea play - its closer, theres more glory and I get a day out in London - objectively a better day out than Saints, but emotionally it means nothing. .
