  1. Its a possibility. I reckon KL might well see the failure to sell out every game as an indication of a lack of feelgood factor, despite the millions spent.
  2. Having him as a member of the board would be a strength given his knowledge of other sports, possibly even as some kind of Staplewood manager. As a coach, not so much.
  3. What attracted the Ramirez's, Pochettinos, Wanyama's Lovrens was the spending of £75m on transfers and the fact "they will pay me so much money it was impossible to turn down". If is wasn't surely they all would be asking to leave again now Cortese has gone. Football clubs get nowhere without local support. Affinity to your city of birth and local club is a far more powerful driver to buy a season ticket than some ephemeral signing. Alienate your core constituency and you're lost. Thats why the little things, accumulating over years matter if you want to sell out a ground and build success.
  4. I'll mark that down as a lame backtrack from a kid who has no idea what he's talking about.
  5. Not according to you. Your words "The fact is, Saints history is hardly that rich. There isn't a huge amount to maximise from harking to the past sadly". "Given the previous few years at saints a rebrand was needed in my opinion". Come on then. Since "I do know more than a little about branding, thanks" give us your ideas. You wouldn't want people to think you're talking out your arse.
  6. That makes it sound like a siege. Planned press conference or hacks just discovered where they're staying?
  7. Go on then. Give us your rebrand pitch for Saints. Which elements are you going to bring out to construct a whole new image for Saints. Tell us about the marketing strategy that is going to blow into insignificance things like results, position in table and signings.
  8. You're just parroting words without understanding what they mean. How are you going to rebrand Southampton FC (est 1885)? Change the name to 'Zoom', relocate to Soho and become an online retailer? Saints is a football club based in Southampton - you can't 'imagineer' something different.
  9. You come across as extremely young and naive. All ****ing off people has got us is negative press, penalty payments to contractors, legal costs racked up and a high turnover of staff. Being aggressive in negotiations and being effective are not at all the same thing.
  10. Yep I thought it was the daughter, turned out to be her cousin.
  11. She funds the charity I work for, as do many other wealthy people. No big mystery
  12. Actually its her cousin I've previously been in contact with through work, and she isn't directly involved in Saints, so I'm not sure its relevant. Keep up with comedy gags though, cracking.
  13. You're not very good at this sarcastic straw man thing. Its just a pastiche of Dig Dig, and he's crap at it too.
  14. Suits me perfectly
  15. Lol. We ARE just another West Ham, Stoke or Norwich - except West Ham have won more than us and have bigger crowds. I'm sorry if you bought into the Cortese CL puff which depended on someone (not him) writing another £150m cheque.
  16. Do you mean an actual job share for CEO? - or two different jobs - eg a CEO and a Director of Operations?
  17. Not really. Osvaldo was unwanted at Roma and forced to find a new club. Lovren was really unhappy at Lyon and Saints made the highest cash offer to Lyon. Re exceeding current PL standards, not so much. Better than some for sure, but well below Chelsea, Man U, Man City, Spurs etc. The point is, what we have gained has been done by paying top dollar - not some special one powers. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/the-club/new-training-centre/ http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4537401/Man-Citys-training-ground-can-change-to-copy-rivals-pitch.html
  18. Incredible volte face over the space of just a weekend. Oh no wait - he changed his mind nearly four years later, when he was 84.
  19. 1. Winning titles increases attendances = True 2. Expanding stadium creates bigger attendances + CL and global domination = Not true
  20. He miscalculated. He thought if we could take 55,000 to Wembley in lg1 then we'd easily fill 45,000 every week in the PL. Not the same thing at all and the idea was quietly dropped.
  21. World peace
  22. Good news. Not unexpected, but good news just the same.
  23. How was Cortese innovative? We got promoted by recruiting better players and employing good managers. We built a training ground to match current PL standards. Non of it was rocket science. Lowe was far more innovative - and look how that turned out.
