  1. The only reason for any politician to do these photo opp events is to gain good publicity. If they get negative coverage as a result - which this one clearly has, then its an own goal. The staffer who organised it should be shot (or given a medal, depending on your point of view).
  2. Reverse imo. All referees will likely now be wary of ticking off Saints players with verbals and instead will play a very straight bay with no leeway - ie more bookings and sendings off. Stupid complaint which has backfired - motivated more by Saints trying to change the refereeing system than by the actual incident.
  3. The Guardian. Lefty nonsense, I wouldn't trust it
  4. Don't know. Haven't followed him tbh, just remember the transfer.
  5. Dan Seabourne in defence.
  6. Electricity is three times the price per KW of gas - even using cheap imported coal. You think consumers will sign up for heating bills three times the price? In the 1920s mining employed over 1 million people. By the time of the miners strike it was 139,000, when Thatcher left office it was 49,000 and today its 6,000. Are they Thatchers fault too? By all means demonise people, but do it on the basis off sound facts.
  7. Eugene Samuel Matterface, a name to rival James Ward-Prowse in football.
  8. Its not though. How many people want to give up their gas central heating and go back to one warm room, lugging in dirty buckets from the outside bunker to feed an open fire and and dodgy 'maybe hot water maybe not' back boiler? How many want higher electricity prices because the power stations are using more expensive domestic coal? Digging coal from narrow tunnels in deep mines in the UK is a thing of the past in the UK, thank God. Consign it to the dustbin, along with Black Lung disease. UK coal production had been in decline since 1903 and Thatcher neither accelerated nor slowed that decline. People remember the miners strike for its confrontation and social division - the actual facts about coal mining are lost behind red mist. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/historical-coal-data-coal-production-availability-and-consumption-1853-to-2011
  9. Thanks for the 'crud within' warning at the start of the post. It avoided wasted time.
  10. Pointless argument imo. Coal was mostly killed off by cheap North Sea gas. All Thatcher did was refuse to write the massive public subsidies cheques that might have allowed more coal mines to continue for a few more years until those subsidies were outlawed by EU and WTO rules on unfair competition.
  11. I know a guy who makes a lot of money, at least hundreds of thousands a year, from a relatively simple programme that scrapes news freely available on the internet about corporate law trials and judgements and then emails it automatically to clients who pay him well for the service - mostly large law firms. Costs him almost nothing to run, so income is all profit. Obviously thats a one off, but knowing where something is and selling access to people who want it is sound. My advice would be to do something similar - don't go into something that requires a large capital outlay. Lots of companies are virtual resellers - they don't hold stock, when they get an order in they simply order from their suppliers and put a margin on.
  12. They're not brainwashed - they know their resident weirdo is spouting bull****. The parallels are uncanny.
  13. You can try this (not specific to your netbook). I cribbed it from somewhere else so cant vouch for it. Backup your important data to flash/disk/external drive, then... (The first one may not work for all models but worth a try). On start up (before Windows loads) press F8 and choose the option “Repair your Computer” ***This will erase all your unsaved data!*** Or 1) Hold down the power button until it shuts down. 2) Press and hold the zero key and tap the power button once. 3) When you hear beeping release the zero key. 4) Click Yes to continue system recovery. 5) Click 'Recovery of Factory Default Software', click Next. 6) Click 'Recover to out-of-box state', click Next. 7) Click Next to Start recovery. ***This will erase all your unsaved data!***
  14. Depends on the quality of the insurance policy and the timing of the arson, sorry accident.
  15. But that's like the law against speeding. I speed sometimes but it doesn't mean I want speed limits abolished. Decriminalising tends to make things more socially acceptable and therefore more widespread. The trick is how you allow occasional recreational use and prohibit intense use of things like skunk - which can and does lead to long term psychosis.
  16. Your reasoning is childlike. You want something to be true - so to you it is true - except its not. http://www.chiefscientist.gov.au/2009/12/which-plants-store-more-carbon-in-australia-forests-or-grasses/
  17. The PL made their decision knowing what Lallana said to Clattenburg and what Clattenburg said in response. That seems fair enough to me. Clattenburg's comment was more of quip than insulting imo.
  18. That means Pochettino is dead cert for the chop then. When he was sacked Adkins had lost 2 games in the previous 12 in the PL. Since then Pochettino has spent another £20m odd and lost six in the previous 12.
  19. This. The PL should post up some of the choicest things Saints players have previously said to referees.

You'd need to pick it up and relocate it to the city centre for a start.

  23. The amount of junk we release into the sea is just staggering. Basically you can dump anything you like 12 miles from shore. On some beaches, such as Kamilo in Hawaii there are literally more plastic particles than sand.
  24. Actually its both. Growing timber absorbs CO2 and locks it up in the wood. If you clear the forest and either burn the wood or allow it to rot then the carbon which has been locked up in the forest for thousands or millions of years is released back into the atmosphere.
