Not so sure. If you go on their fans forum a lot of people think £8m would be a good price and would understand that Hooper would want to triple his wages. They dont want to lose him still, but are unlikely to get the torches out if they did.

I guess they changed the way in which the numbers are counted, so making comparisons with earlier years unreliable. Thats the trouble with stats - depends on what you count and how....

People registered as unemployed is up to a 20 year high, youth unemployment is at an all time record high and we are supposedly in recession again. And yet.... employment is actually up on three months ago and the number of economically inactive people is down. Whats going on? Makes no sense to me, unless the population is rising sharply - and even if that were true how can GDP be falling against a backdrop of increasing employment? •The employment rate for those aged from 16 to 64 was 70.3 per cent, down 0.1 on the quarter. There were 29.12 million people in employment aged 16 and over, up 18,000 on the quarter. •The unemployment rate was 8.4 per cent of the economically active population, up 0.3 on the quarter. There were 2.68 million unemployed people, up 118,000 on the quarter. The unemployment rate has not been higher since 1995 and the number of unemployed people has not been higher since 1994. •The inactivity rate for those aged from 16 to 64 was 23.1 per cent, down 0.2 on the quarter. There were 9.29 million economically inactive people aged from 16 to 64, down 61,000 on the quarter. •Total pay (including bonuses) rose by 1.9 per cent on a year earlier, down 0.2 on the three months to October 2011(with both the private and public sectors showing lower pay growth). •Regular pay (excluding bonuses) rose by 1.9 per cent on a year earlier, up 0.1 on the three months to October 2011. http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/lms/labour-market-statistics/january-2012/statistical-bulletin.html

I had a cold call from that number yesterday trying to sell me something. No idea what it was.

Bang on with those two, plus that weird 'innit?' accent some Britsh born Asians have. Other than that I like regional accents.
-
Fair enough. From the website I read I knew he was 71 and seemed much less involved in the club than previously.
-
Absolutely. You think that isnt known?
-
sorry but why? whats the point? Hillsborough was a terrible tragedy and mistakes were made on the day 23 years ago by police, fans and club officials. A new inquest for one lad isnt going to bring him back, add to the knowledge which already exists or help prevent another incident like it occurring. Terracing has already been abolished and seating everywhere introduced.

I think he's retired and might well be on the lookout for a good club to run, He looked at Pompey and realised it wasnt a good club to run. Doesnt sound odd to me!
-
Sounds very credible. No sensible group will want to invest if they dont control their own destiny. too many ransom strips of all kinds on Pompey now for anyone but Chinny and tyre kickers to be intyerested.
-
He almost certainly is in Glasgow. If Sky is saying we are only just preparing for a new bid, there is no way he will be down here discussing a contract.

Just occurred to me that Hooper must know Barnard as well as Jos. They overlapped as strikers at Southend for about six months

Thanks y'all.

Fat bloke, stripy jersey apparently.

Who is Tom Coull? (I'm assuming he's not the Australian wine grower google is quite keen on).
-
Im not saying anything definitely will happen to them - I have no idea. Just saying its a different body with a different set of rules to last time. The outcome may also be very different.

I shop mostly at our local Budgen's as its just across the road. If you stick to your usual items week in week out its ridiculously expensive- more than Waitrose, but in every category they always have something on a real genuine (not Tesco's pretend) half price offer which makes it cheaper than the major supermarkets (eg Innnocent smoothies for £1.80, Ben & Jerry's for £2.) Agree with you, go with whats on offer and dont buy from habit. Works for me.

Thats the level of detail I was after .
-
Was he carrying a costa coffee cup?
-
tbf it was the premiership which was surprisingly tolerant. Pompey may be about to find out how intolerant the FL can be.

Nail. Head. For all the derision heaped here on the SPL, winning most of the time, silverware, becoming champions and roared on by delirious full house crowds is very seductive. For some players more so than being mid table in the prem, especially at his age imo. I can definitely see him moving in the summer - but if he left now it would be the money - is that what we're after?

Charlton striker. I think Celtic were in the market for a striker even before all this blew up so may not mean anything. Interesting tho...
