Of course not. As long as your opinion is based on researched fact rather than jumping on a bandwagon. I've no idea how terrible the Mayans were (or were not) ergo I can't comment on them. I guess what some people are suggesting is that some young people aren't basing their opinion on researched facts but are simply echoing the opinion that makes them fit in with their peers.

Pap - genuine question - when you say that with such certainty, are you making a personal judgement based on what you re read/seen/heard etc or is this something that Thatcher explicitly admitted doing later in life? I don't doubt for one moment that ONE of Thatcher's primary motivations was to 'smash the unions' but what is the actual evidence that shows that she needed to close economically viable mines to meet that end? What I'd really like to do is a case study on one of the mines in question and trace it from the date it opened through to the date of closure, analysing the financial accounts throughout that period. I think people on both sides of the debate trot out their largely anecdotal evidence to back up their views but I'd really like to fine tooth comb one example to illustrate the point you make. If it could be proved that Thatcher closed down a mine SOLELY to inflict damage on a union (i.e. it wasn't part of a package of reasons on a case by case basis) then I'd be open to changing my view of Thatcher in this area. Are there any archives I can trawl through that would give me the independent info I'm after?

Blimey... I do believe #factlessallen might have got a fact right... @pn_neil_allen: Just to clarify, Trust expect #Pompey points deduction this season - but it is not confirmed. FL have final say and are being tightlipped.

@frankieboyle: This guest list is a damning inditement of the inefficiency of the IRA

Surely our greatest success is last season's 2-2 draw at St Mary's vs Pompey? That result helped us win promotion and helped send them down. Win wn P.s. was it really only last season we were playing Pompey in the same league?

I'm guessing the same buffoons are also whining about the taxpayer forking out £10m for Thatcher's funeral when the club they adore has evaded 6 times that amount in tax payments. Edit: apologies to PTS regulars for dipping into politics on this sacred thread. I will happily take whatever punishment I'm due...unlike a certain football club...

@solentsport: Portsmouth Supporters Trust Chairman Ashley Brown says he expects ten point deduction to be taken off this season #pompey @neilwingham: @solentsport correct decision. Have aready been punished for this administration last season anyway @Lord_Trousers: @neilwingham @solentsport This -10 isn't for going into administration this time, its for failing to honour CVA from previous admin. They'll get it one of these days...
-
Did he explain why it would be "devastating"? Surely a club as massive as Pompey, and their "debt free" financial clout, will walk League 2 next season, regardless of the -10... Unless there's something the ever so transparent Trust aren't disclosing about their "ready to go" business plan of course...
-
Didn't take long for a back pedal on the wording emphasis by Solent... @solentsport: Portsmouth Supporters Trust Chairman Ashley Brown says he expects ten point deduction to be taken off this season #pompey
-
@solentsport: #Pompey Trust chairman @AshBeen tells us their agreement with F League is for ten points to come off this season, regardless of relegation So, no possibly punishment for failing to honour a CVA then... Same old Pompey....still laughing in the face of creditors ... Anyone got the Football League email address to hand? And seeing that the chairman of the Trust is in a 'revealing inside info' mood this morning, perhaps he'd also like to unveil the 'add ons' agrees with Portpin while he's at it... ?

Some of you are being very unfair...who, for example, knew that some of the premier league stadiums have grass pitches? A very informative article in many ways...

"There were glimpses of Pompey’s glorious past..." What glorious past is that? The one where they built a team on an unsustainable financial foundation...?
-
@alex_crook: Great turnout at the @pompeytrust game tonight. More than 6,000 and more than most league one and two clubs attract for league games #pompey Sigh...It wasn't a league game, it was a chance for the fans to back the future of the club. Comparing it with league attendances is missing the point by some distance...
-
@alex_crook: Don't want to be a doom merchant but don't see how the @football_league wont roll #pompey points deduction into next season @DrummerBoyRob: @alex_crook should still stay up though as we will be the biggest club in that league by a long way - will attract best players
-
If Norris is a Pompey legend for not affecting our promotion bid last season one iota, maybe Smith should be adopted as a Saints legend for achieving something ever so slightly more significant...just a thought...

@david_conn: Portsmouth relegated to League 2 just three years since being in the Premier League. Massive rebuilding job for fans trust @pompeytrust @Pompey_Royal: @david_conn had 7000 for a fundraising friendly at Fratton Park tonight. Bigger than most League One gates. @garethdn: @Pompey_Royal @david_conn Could hit 16,000 for Dockyard derby in Plymouth in L2 next year too, I reckon. #pafc @Pompey_Royal: @garethdn @david_conn will be near sellout of 20k this Sat'day despite already relegated. May average c16k next year. Real buzz about club.

PTS thread calling Oldnick. Oldnick to the PTS thread immediately.

Was that just for me or the thread as a whole...?

@Lord_Palmerston: Saints fans are as crap at trolling as they are at supporting their club.

@solentsport: #AFCB could now be promoted to the Championship with a win over Carlisle on Saturday, should other results go their way
