  1. And if a chicken never lays any eggs there will never be any chickens....
  2. Reading win both http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20120309/federici-named-player-of-the-month_2293322_2641575 http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20120309/mcdermott-named-manager-of-the-month_2293322_2641576
  3. @TonyHusbandBBC: #pompey Tory group on Portsmouth City Council table a motion asking council to consider buying Fratton Park. To be discussed later in month.
  4. Or....Greg Clarke can see the "Football League helped sink Pompey" bad PR flak that would come their way from certain quarters if/when Pompey go under, so he hastily goes on record in an article in the local press saying they will do all they can to help, which he can refer back to at the end of the season as a "Hey, look, at least we tried to help" stake in the ground. Who knows.
  5. I think most people on here participating in the "it's behind you" pantomime that is the Pompey Takeover Thread have always felt deep down that there was a good chance they would 'get away with it'. Indeed, I think most would prefer for them to survive on a life support machine so the thread can trundle on for years to come.
  6. All this talk of getting the punishment levels right is tackling the problem from the wrong end IMO. Set up the rules such that teams can't get themselves into financial difficulty in the first place. Prevention, not cure.
  7. @pn_Rory_McKeown: I chatted to Football League chairman Greg Clarke today. Interview in tomorrow's @portsmouthnews
  8. In news completely unrelated to Portsmouth Football Club... @pn_clare_semke: Nine men have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences and money laundering in 9 raids in Ports, Hayling Island and Windsor m/f
  9. Good point. Phew!
  10. I disagree. Subs are about optimising the options (gosh, that sounds like an Adkinsism!). A goalkeeper who comes on once every 100 games per team (semi-educated guess) does not optimise the options. It's a low risk strategy. IMHO of course.
  11. Noooo! Please don't win!
  12. Indeed. Withholding the regular payments would only have ever been a temporary measure by the FL, to cover the period between the issuing of the WUP by HMRC and the Administrator getting his feet under the desk. As soon as the League were able to satisfy themselves that their £200k per month was going to be used 'appropriately' then they could turn on the dripping tap again. Just a formality it would seem.
  13. Subtle as a brick!
  14. Is this connected to the re-issuing of the 'Appointment of Administrators' announcement yesterday, whereby Birch's name was excluded?
  15. And then the regulators (ha ha) of the Administration industry charge AA with falsifying the figures to rig the outcome of the original CVA? (insert *chortle* here)
  16. Fair point
  17. Post #4 of this thread
  18. Queen's
  19. Which we've done more often than not this season (thanks to one of those old fashioned chaps on here who posted the actual statistics earlier in the thread). We'll make that magical 'promotion contenders' spot before the end of the season at this rate I reckon.
  20. Hitherto known as "The Pompey Model"...
  21. Other promotion candidates' fixtures this weekend: Coventry vs Brum (12:30 KO) Brighton vs Pompey Hull vs Ipswich Posh vs Blackpool Reading vs Leicester West Ham vs Doncaster Bristol City vs Cardiff (17:30 KO) Middlesbro vs Leeds (Sunday game) Another "home banker" for West Ham then.....
  22. Tickets booked. Still top of the league going into this game now. COYS!
  23. Ahem..... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?36336-Saints-vs-Barnsley-Build-Up-Thread
