Taking the public sector back to 2008/09 levels is hardly "decimation". It's a rebalancing exercise, one that Labour subscribed to (albeit £6bn less than the nasty wasty Tories, which is a drop in the ocean difference in the general scheme of things.) Btw, has Balls decided whether he is for or against retaining the 50% tax rate yet or is he still flip-flopping? ;-)

On their list of Labour mess to sort out I would venture 'school choices' is fairly low down.... ;-)
-
It was Labour who introduced the pseudo 'free market' choices for schools as a way of preventing the true free market operating (i.e. Parents choosing where they live ergo which school they went to) The real free market was far too unfair though as it meant that clever(er) / rich(er) parents could determine what schools their kids went to...and real choice would never do in an equal society... ;-)

But that gives us a range of 1 pence to £62,999,999,999....so, no, we don't "know" anything about what they are asking for.... Maybe the better question to ask the protesters would be: "How much of the £120m DAILY interest payment on the debt are you happy for this country to keep paying and for how long?". Once we have the answer to that one I can then work backwards from those figures to arrive at the amount of cuts they would need to endorse to achieve their desired reduction in the debt interest payments. This pretty picture may help focus the mind:

That's because they didn't have a Tory (Lord Coe) holding them to account.... ;-)

They haven't spent £6m yet....they've just got planning permission to do so..... Make of that what you will.... -
Sadly true. Welcome to 'Great' Britain 2011

Genuine long term injury or Adkins smoke-and-mirrors?

Somewhat of a tangent, but good to see the private sector deliver the Olympic stadium early and under budget. A fine example of how profit and taxpayer value can sit comfortably side-by-side...

Good luck with your mission though. Having participated in school runs for the last 10 years (as a parent rather than resident) it amazes me how 90% of the parents ever passed their driving test. They haven't got a clue about spatial awareness and etiquette. I'm sure the fact that 90% of school run drivers are women is an unfortunate coincidence... ;-)

So, in conclusion, no one knows what level of cuts any of the protesters are actually accepting of? Hmmm....now that's what I call convenient (volume 87) ;-)

I'd be more worried about the steady creep of European words into the English language if I was you. "cul-de-sac"? It's the thin end of the European domination wedge, I tell ye. ;-)

Will Cortese send adkins on his way should we not secure promotion?
trousers replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Looking at it another way (just a hypothesis if course)....let's say Pardew had pulled a tabor out of the hat and got us promoted last season. And then, after a decent start in the championship, Cortese had the sane cause to sack him. Does anyone think that Adkins would have been top of the list of managers to get us out of the championship? I'll repeat what I said, I think cortese WILL review the club's personnel across the board (because that's his job) but will conclude that he should stick with Nigel. Simple as that. -

And they were labelled as "SWF weirdos" if memory serves me correctly. Rule nothing in, rule nothing out. -

You reckon it's an impossibility then? If so, I assume you'll be happy to take my bet of £10 at odds of 1,000,000-1? ;-) -

I've had similar thoughts over the last few weeks but not been brave enough to post it on here! :-) It would not surprise me in the slightest if Cortese reviewed his 'management team' to ensure they were 'fit for purpose' for the Championship. Upon conducting this review (and he may already have doen this pre-emptively), if he was to conclude that the team stood a better chance of promotion to the premier league under a different manager to Adkins then I believe he is ruthless enough to switch. My observation of Cortese is that he looks at things very businesslike and doesn't take human emotion into account. Of course, us supporters, being emotive creatures, would see the replacement of Adkins upon promotion to be an act of a mad man but, stripping away human nature, I can see why Cortese wouldn't rule it out. To me, that's a sign of a good leader: someone who is strong enough to replace a successful manager with someone who he believes will be even more successful at a higher level. Too often in this country, supposed leaders only replace a manager when they have failed. The really good leaders replace people before they fail.... All that said, I believe Cortese will conclude that Adkins is good enough to take us to the Premier League....famous last words....?! -
Despite being National Google Champion 2007, I've searched high-and-low and failed to find any reference to these "large scale" anti-Labour protests. As you seem to have your finger more on the pulse about these rallies I simply assumed you'd have the links to hand. Actually, Hyperlink World Champion 2008 - 2011 (Bridge Too Far) might be a good port of call here..... ;-)
