  1. No such thing as "free" education - it has to be funded somehow. And, it's free at the point of use. In fact, for the poorest 25% it's now cheaper overall than it was under Labour, the party who endorsed tuition fees.... Strange then that Labour don't support the Tory led coalition's ring-fencing of, and extra investment in, the NHS....
  2. I'm surprised knowledgable BBC football commentators and pundits didn't know the rules before commenting on the situation....
  3. Good for him. Just think of all that extra money he's been able to spend/invest on a personal level with UK companies, thus boosting the economy, creating jobs, etc..... ;-)
  4. Am I the only one who, somewhat perversely I admit, feels more comfortable with Saints being in the chasing pack than sitting a few points ahead in second place? I would obviously feel even more comfortable being in Brighton's 'clear daylight' position at the top, but with my "knowing Saints" hat on, I'd rather we were chasing 2nd spot than trying to protect it....
  5. Indeed. One of the missing pieces of the 'takeover years' jigsaw....
  6. Indeed. Step forward Mr Richard Fry.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-1197918/Charles-Sale-Whats-Fry-cooking-Saints-now.html What's Fry cooking up for Saints now? Last updated at 12:43 AM on 7th July 2009 Football League unease at the way the Southampton FC administration is being handled will only increase with the revelation that the banker who first sent the club under has joined the recovery firm handling their future. Richard Fry was the executive at the Canary Wharf branch of Barclays Bank mainly responsible for first cutting the Southampton overdraft from £5m to £4m and then bouncing cheques worth just £6,000 when it was breached - sending Southampton's holding company spiralling into administration in April. The official departure of Fry from Barclays to join Begbies Traynor as a partner in their London division was announced on their website last week, heralding his expertise as a turnaround case manager whose specialties included football clubs. Strangely, any mention of Fry's arrival has now been removed from the company's website, although he was in work there yesterday - but wouldn't comment on his move - referring all questions, via his secretary, to administrator Mark Fry. Mark Fry (no relation) - who has been leading the Begbies Traynor recovery programme at Southampton - has received huge criticism for giving preference to the Matthew Le Tissier-led Pinnacle Consortium, whose bid has collapsed after a critical three weeks of wasted time that has put the club's future at serious risk.

    The Budget

Looking forward to the Tory led coalition taking us another step in the right direction....
  8. It's the Brighton fans I feel sorry for.....poor devils must be bored out of their minds.... ;-)
  9. Please can we change the thread title to something more generic so it covers all of us with suicide tendencies? I, for example, took a lethal overdose whilst listening to Chris de Burgh albums on repeat. Thanks
  10. I'll go with whatever Cortese says will happen in his next BBC interview
  11. Can someone please post hoddle's earlobes as I'm out and about at the moment. Thanks
  12. Will do :-)
  13. I feel a "Saints fans who work in London" pub crawl in my waters one evening in the summer.... :-)
  14. Simple answer: Yes
  15. Market Porter = best pub in London And 10 minutes walk from where I work... Hmmm....tempting....
  16. Ok....here goes....reverse psychology time... Charlton 2 Saints 1
  17. I note that our last Prime Minister deemed it unnecessary to grace us with his presence at the Commons debate on Libya yesterday. Perhaps he was too busy negotiating Christmas pantomime contracts after his Comic Relief appearance...?
  18. I wouldn't recommend that. You humans are an odd species at the best of times
  19. Next Tuesday
  20. Arguably, if you have a choice of countries to 'sort out', it's logical to go for the countries who are oil rich first, as stabilising the worldwide supply of such an important yet dwindling resource is as good a reason as any to prioritise one country over another. Given we (USA, UK, France, etc) can't 'sort out' all the world's murdering dictators at once, you have to take on the worst cases first. A nasty dictator who has oil in his armoury trumps a nasty dictator who hasn't. Simple as that.
  21. 300 posts for a non-Saints game...is that some kinda record?! :-)
  22. jordansibley: Not sure which was more disturbing, supporting MK Dons for the evening or being forced to watch the last 20 mins of one born every minute!
  23. RadhijaidiOff: Massive game tomorrow, everybody is ready to win the 3points ...
