Thanks for the insight Alan..... ;-)
  4. Yep. Can't you tell...? ;-)
  5. Actually, knowing this forum, this is perhaps a better candidate for a 'Caption Competion':
  6. Perhaps he meant "relatively unknown"...? :-)

    Wages

Just read in the font of all knowledge (aka the Daily Mail) that Adkins has doubled his wages from £100k at Scvnthorpe to £200k by joining Southampton. Out of sheer idle curiosity, any idea how this compares to Pardew's salary while he was here?
  9. Nail. Head.
  10. No. Wrong (Trousers) Pilchards I believe.
  11. Yep, in a nutshell
  12. Great to see he's already using "we" when referring to Saints. A lot of managers take a while to get into that frame of mind, instead using phrases like "this team" for a while. Nice.

  14. Assuming Cortese dispensed with Pardew for the success of his team on the field of course..... ;-)
  15. Start with a twice daily application of cocoa butter and take it from there
  16. There's quite a few things that Adkins needs to address but I've picked the top 3 and listed them below in priority order: 1. Player confidence 2. Player confidence 3. Player confidence
  17. Quietly confident about this appointment
  18. This forum is no such place for common sense posts such as this! Hang your head in shame!
  19. He could have done that over the phone I reckon. That said, maybe went to see Switzerland v England and saw the Liebherrs while he was there...? Who knows
  20. I don't think it should be used as a "catch all defence" but, by the same token, it shouldn't be dismissed out of hand everytime it is given in defence either. It works both ways.
  21. There's a difference between: "Planned to do it at some stage (e.g. at Christmas if things weren't going well) but more recent events brought it to a head much quicker than Cortese had envisaged" and "Planned to do it on the exact date that he did regardless of events" I'd rather venture it was the former than the latter.
