  1. Just booked tickets for the game. First of the season for me. Plastic Saints supporters of the world unite!
  2. No one is disputing that it was a free vote. I'm simply stating that, unlike yourself, a percentage of people are open to persuasion and influence. Not a huge revelation, granted, but observationally accurate nonetheless.
  3. If the unions couldn't / didn't influence anyone's vote, why did they bother phoning their members "up to 37 times" to try and influence them? Bit of a waste of time if people are beyond influence....surely...?
  4. I also heard that the 1976 FA Cup final was a NASA rehearsal for a Mars landing... ;-)
  5. You'll find that (most) Labour voters find it difficult to defend Labour in isolation. Every discussion around defending Labour policy invariably involves dragging the Tories into the equation. (or the 'ConDems' as they now like to humorously rattle off - ho ho) It's a bit like the smoker who defends their habit by using negative comparisons: "Well, more people are killed crossing the road, innit..." (some of the above was tongue-in-cheek and thus warrants a *winky face*) Of course, you'll never catch the Tories doing the same in reverse....
  6. Some good quotes and links in this thread. Like it.
  7. Michael Rodd?
  8. Yeovil 1 Saints 0

    Who's this Atkins fellow?
  10. Peter Glaze?
  11. Depends if one compares apples to apples or apples to oranges. Some might argue that comparing win ratios in the third tier of English football (with some of the best resources and facilities in the dvision) with win ratios in the first and second tiers of English Football (where the resources and facilities were, comparably, on a less favourable footing) is not comparing like-for-like.
  12. It is possible to say and mean something in one month but do something different in future months without undermining the original statement. People's minds are changed by events and circumstances. Just because Cortese genuinely believed in 'outcome 1' in August doesn't meen that he can't now believe in 'Outcome 2' if things have changed. Not that I'm suggesting he has changed his mind. Just that it's a perfectly reasonable human trait if he has.
  13. What exactly does a "team analyst" do anyway....? Sounds like one of those made-up public sector jobs one sees advertised in the Guardian....
  14. At last, one of the "50 managers" who applied for the Saints job is revealed.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-11398614 ;-)
  15. It is possible to be correct and insulting at the same time. For example: "The sun is hot, you idiot" ;-)
  16. Indeed. I feel a new Carlsberg advert coming on... "If Carlsberg did irony...."
  17. In other news: George Michael complains about the excessive amount of man love going on in Britain's prisons. In the words of my mate Richard Littlejohn: "you couldn't make it up"
  18. It's a rare disorder
  19. Heard from whom?
  20. To be fair to Mr Cortese, he did give plenty of warning about the parking charges at St Mary's.... (sorry, not very helpful I know...)
  21. I assume he'll have been able to keep relatively fit whilst out? i.e. he can still run around and stuff so won't be starting from 'square one' on the back to fitness ladder....?
  22. Please can someone with a medical background (or access to Wikipedia) please tell me how dislocating a shoulder in July renders a player unable to play a game of football until October? Isn't it just a bone coming out of a socket and being put back again? Thanks
  23. 13 posts in the last 24 hours as a non-member.....come on, spill the beans...... ;-)
  24. Just to add my two pence worth of salt to the wounds..... The latest "Latest News" article on the Saintsweb homepage is: "Pardew Sacked". I know it's been quiet of late but I'd have thought the arrival of Mr Adkins would have warranted a few words in passing....? :-)
